Our Community Centers offer a FREE dynamic, non-licensed drop in after school program that provides enriching recreation activities in a fun atmosphere. This includes creative arts and crafts, recreational games, sports, STEAM/STEM experiments, homework help, and special events. Daily meals from St. Mary’s Food Bank are available to all participants. This program allows participants to sign in and out without parental or guardian permission. Writer in Residence
The Writer in Residence program at the Foothills Library welcomes local authors to support writers of all ages, experiences, and genres.
From September through November, we are excited to host Donis Casey, acclaimed author of the Alafair Tucker and Bianca Dangereuse Hollywood Mystery series. Schedule a one-on-one session with Donis to receive personalized advice, feedback, and tips on writing and publishing. Additionally, Donis will lead workshops covering the creative, technical, and business aspects of being a professional writer. Junior CSI Academy
Join the Glendale Police Department at Heroes Regional Park Library for Junior CSI Academy on Saturday, September 14! Families can explore fingerprinting, investigate DNA analysis, meet a K-9 unit, see a SWAT vehicle, and work through a mock crime scene. Storytimes at the Library

Baby Rhyme and Playtime
An early literacy program for parent/caregiver and baby, newborn to 18 months, incorporating stories, rhymes, songs and movement.
Familytime
A traditional storytime with stories, fingerplays, songs and more. Stories are geared toward ages 2½ - 5 years but all ages are welcome!
Baby and Toddler Time
An interactive storytime specifically designed with babies and toddlers in mind. Planned for children ages 0 - 3 years.
Toddler Time
Toddlers and their grownups are invited to rhyme, read, and sing! This program features activities geared toward children ages 18 months - 3 years.
Preschool Storytime
An interactive storytime filled with stories, fingerplays, and songs! This program is geared toward children ages 3-6 years.
Borrow a Backpack
Explore new adventures with Glendale Library’s activity backpacks! Each backpack is filled with tools and guides to help you learn, play and explore! Backpacks are available at all library locations, and can be borrowed for three weeks.

Our Seed Library lets adults “check out” up to three types of seeds every seven days. Choose from a variety of fall seeds sourced from Native Seeds/SEARCH and provided by Glendale Water Services – Conservation & Sustainable Living Division. Visit any of our four locations to find the perfect seeds for your garden.

Let the Glendale Library help you find your new favorite reads! We’ve created an online Readers Concierge service to help you with your reading selections. Just complete a short survey to give us a sense of what you like and library staff will email you a personalized list of five to 10 titles within three to five days. We can provide lists for the whole family — adults, kids and teens!
