The Rose Lane Community Center offers programs for all age groups, including children, teens, adults, and seniors. The Writer in Residence program at the Main Library welcomes local authors to support writers of all ages, experiences, and genres. This season, we are excited to host USA Today bestselling author Karen Odden!
Karen earned her PhD in English from New York University. After a career in teaching and editing, she turned to writing mysteries. Her fourth novel, Down a Dark River, was an Oprah Daily pick, and its sequel, Under a Veiled Moon, was nominated for the Agatha, Lefty, and Anthony awards for best historical mystery in 2023.

28th Annual Arizona Songwriters Gathering

Whether you’re a performer, writer, or music lover, join us for this FREE event. Enjoy over 120 live performances on four stages throughout the day and immerse yourself in the vibrant world of songwriting.
Bring your voice and instrument for open song-sharing circles or learn from a variety of workshops and lectures led by nationally recognized experts, including Jason Blume, Sandy Ramos, Dr. E. Michael Harrington, David Hilker, Jeff Freundlich, Eric Ramsey, and Nancy Elliott. Topics will cover song critiques, writing for sync and metadata, the impact of AI on songwriting, digital audio workstations, writing for the Nashville market, turning stories into songs, melody writing, blues, and booking yourself as an artist. Don’t miss the closing concert by hit songwriter Jeff Dayton!

What makes Glendale awesome to you? Maybe it’s a favorite park, a cool spot you love, a fun community event, or just a special place where you feel at home. We want to see Glendale from your point of view! Design a library card that shows off what you love most about our community. Get creative, have fun, and let your artwork tell the story of why Glendale is the best!
Pick up an entry form at any Glendale Library from February 1 to March 14. Then, visit the Library branches during National Library Week, April 6-12, to see all the amazing entries. Three winners will be selected in the Youth (5-11), Teen (12-18), and Adult (19+) age groups by members of the Glendale Art Commission. Plus, a “Fan Favorite” award will be chosen by your votes!
