Treat yourself to a tour of the Main House at Sahuaro Ranch and discover a beautifully-restored time capsule, dating back to the 1920s and 1930s, to the era and style of the last owners of the ranch, the Smith family. Free tours are offered monthly beginning in September, as well as a full-ranch-site tour on Sept. 28.
HISTORIC SAHUARO RANCH 9802 N.59th Ave., Glendale, AZ 85302 • (623) 930-4200 The Historic Sahuaro Ranch, a 17-acre site, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The historic area is open daily from sunrise to sunset.
Opportunities Educational Field Trips School tours are offered October through April. The Fruit Packing Shed is a unique, intimate setting for special events including receptions, birthday parties, graduations, memorials, meetings or anniversaries. The Fruit Packing Shed has been restored and maintained in its original state, although air conditioning was added for the comfort of guests. To inquire about a rental opportunity, call 623-930-4202. For information on Rose Garden weddings, contact the Glendale Historic Society at 623-435-0072. Volunteer Opportunities If you are excited about history, the Historic Sahuaro Ranch may be a perfect setting to showcase your talents. Volunteer opportunities include leading tours, sharing the family history or assisting with special events held on the property. To learn more, call 623-930-4201.
Photography Permit Beautiful natural backdrops make this an exceptional location for photography and videography. To manage the responsible use of this treasured site, an annual media permit ($100) is required for those wishing to utilize this historic property. No confetti, glitter, streamers or similar items are ever allowed, due to potential hazard to the property and the animals. Permit purchases can be made at www.historicsahuaroranch.org and will be mailed out. Manistee Ranch is a separate permit that can be purchased through the Glendale Historic Society by calling 623-435-0072.
Historic Main House Tours September - May: Sat.: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Sunday 1 to 4 p.m. Enjoy a guided tour of the Main House, built in 1891, and get to know the families that settled and transformed this property. This story begins with the completion of the Arizona Canal in 1885, which created thousands of acres for homesteading and irrigation farming. Crops such as wheat, alfalfa, cotton, figs, citrus and pecans were plentiful on this 2,000-acre ranch. The landscaping included beautiful rose bushes and palm trees, which gave the property a park-like setting. No tours on these dates: Nov. 23, Dec. 23 and 30.
Ranch Site Tour Saturday, Sept. 28, 11 a.m. - Noon Meet on the front porch of the Main House for a unique tour of multiple buildings, agricultural information and the sharing of family history related to the property. This tour will be a combination of indoor and outdoor facilities, so dress comfortably. No reservations required.
Animal Management The Ranch is home to a number of animals. We ask that all individuals feeding the animals do so a substantial distance away from the historic structures, porches or walkways, as food and droppings tracked into the historic buildings can cause damage. Any of the animals on park grounds should not be chased, as this creates an unsafe, stressful situation. Animals are best viewed from a distance as they move around the property, which they call home.

“The class on Home Buying and Selling was very informative. Even though I have bought and sold several homes in the past several years, there was much I did not know. I recommend the class highly. The number of hand outs were many and very helpful. I have filed them away and will be beneficial in the future. Presentation was exceptional and very professional” - Millie
