Welcome to Prescott

PRESCOTT

IS THE PLACE YOU WANT TO VISIT, LIVE, SHOP AND WORK

WELCOME TO EVERYBODY’S HOMETOWN

When you are searching for the ideal mountain town experience that boasts a Western heritage, outdoor activities, community festivals and unique dining options, Prescott is the one destination that offers it all. Western culture and charm make the downtown and Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza a big draw for visitors. Newcomers note the friendliness of the residents and the strong sense of community here.

At a mile high in elevation, Prescott remains about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than Phoenix and 10 to 15 degrees warmer than Flagstaff. It’s the perfect mild, four-season community.

Prescott’s natural beauty is reflected in a number of lakes … Watson, Willow, Lynx, Granite Basin and Goldwater … and features such sights as Thumb Butte, the Granite Dells and Granite Mountain, which all sport well-maintained trails. Prescott has become a mecca for outdoor recreation, including hiking, horseback riding, camping, fishing and mountain biking, to name a few. The area offers a variety of shopping and dining choices – from antique stores to modern art galleries, you will find what you are looking for. Many unique, locallyowned businesses offer a variety of products and services, and there are, of course, a wide selection of nationally recognized stores available.

WE ARE ARIZONA’S CHRISTMAS CITY

Prescott shows off its holiday spirit in grand style. The area around the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza is home for unequaled holiday festivities that begin in late November. The first is the colorful Holiday Light Parade, where decorated floats and holiday music will have you smiling. To warm up after the evening parade, you can head up to the community bonfire at Prescott Mile High Middle School. The first Saturday of December features the colorful daytime Prescott Chamber Christmas Parade with more than 95 entries. If you’re lucky enough to be here in early December, you’ll always remember when the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza lights turn the dark into a kaleidoscope of holiday colors. This year will be the 67th annual lighting. A Frontier Christmas is staged by the Sharlot Hall Museum. You will experience how pioneers celebrated Christmas. Don’t miss these and other community Christmas Events: Wild Lights & Animal Sights at Heritage Park Zoo and Storytellers at Smoki Museum. To add one more holiday magic, it usually snows in December.
