REAL WESTERN ADVENTURE

PRESCOTT, ARIZONA was first settled with the discovery of gold in Granite Creek. The City was founded in 1864. President Abraham Lincoln named Prescott the first Territorial Capital of Arizona, a distinction the City held from 1864-67 and again from 1877-89. In 1891, Prescott became the Yavapai County seat. In 1888 Prescott held its first rodeo. To this day, it is known as the World’s Oldest Rodeo®. In 1900, a fire leveled the famous Whiskey Row and the county courthouse.

Notable figures from Prescott’s past include Doc Holliday and his mistress Big Nose Kate, who frequented the Palace and other Whiskey Row establishments. Sen. Barry Goldwater hailed from Prescott. His family owned a general merchandise store on Cortez Street in the downtown, and their name is still on the building. Western history is not all Prescott has to offer. Prescott is nestled in the central highlands of Arizona at a milehigh elevation. The City is surrounded by the Prescott National Forest and has 145,000 acres of Ponderosa Pine, five lakes and 450+ miles of trails.

HISTORY

Most of all, you will enjoy genuine Western hospitality and an adventurous outdoor lifestyle that makes Prescott the “Best Destination in Arizona for Nature Lovers,” according to Expedia Viewfinder

EXPERIENCE DAY TRIPS

Prescott’s the perfect place from which to launch memorable day trips. Some amazing sights are just an hour away. Among the favorites are the following:

VERDE VALLEY These small towns showcase the best of Arizona’s quaint communities. All are within a 30-mile radius with an estimated population of 66,000 — each offering visitors a unique experience.

COTTONWOOD Located in the heart of the Verde Valley and Arizona wine country, Cottonwood offers amazing restaurants, diners, unique shopping experiences and a distinctive historic Main Street. Outdoor adventure with history, culture and activities are available to explore for all ages.

CLARKDALE History is alive in nearby Clarkdale, whose homes and buildings still reflect its early copper smelting heritage. Four specialized museums focus on Native American cultures, international copper art and local railroad/town history.

CORNVILLE/PAGE SPRINGS Cornville/Page Springs offers wineries, tasting rooms and a relaxed take on some of Arizona’s most pristine high-desert scenery.

CAMP VERDE Camp Verde, located in the geographic center of Arizona, is rich in history and offers a variety of recreation and outdoor activities to experience and enjoy.

JEROME A Verde Valley excursion wouldn’t be complete without a journey up the hill to Jerome, the “City in the Sky.” Once a thriving mining camp of 15,000, Jerome acquired “ghost town” status by the 1960s. Today, entrepreneurs have restored many of the quaint buildings, and the town now dishes out artsy boutiques and panoramic views in equal measure.

SEDONA Sedona’s stark, giant, red rock formations are so compelling they cause grown men to take up painting or poetry. Toss in dozens of superb shops, galleries, restaurants and recreational opportunities and Sedona has found a magical elixir.

DESIGNATED AS ARIZONA’S CHRISTMAS CITY, during winter months the area around the Courthouse is home for unequaled holiday festivities. You won't want to miss anything!

Festivities begin in late November with the colorful Holiday Light Parade where elaborate decorated floats and holiday music will have you smiling. Ultimately, you may wind up at the community bonfire just up the street at Mile High Middle School. The first week of December features the colorful daytime Christmas Parade with more than 100 entries including almost everyone in town. If you’re lucky enough to be here in early December, you’ll beam when the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza lights turn the dark into a kaleidoscope of holiday colors. This year will be the 68th annual lighting. Join local students, townspeople and visitors in singing traditional Christmas carols.

Up the street two blocks, enjoy a Frontier Christmas staged by the Sharlot Hall Museum. You’ll be transported back to how pioneers celebrated Christmas. 100+ local musicians — students, locals, churches, the community and visitors — during the melodious Acker Musical Showcase the second week of December. Businesses downtown open doors to performers who sing, play instruments and entertain — and invite you to join in. Don’t miss these other Christmas Events — Wild Lights & Animal Sights at Heritage Park Zoo, The Gingerbread Village at the Prescott Resort, Enchanted Christmas, and Storytellers at Museum of Indigenous People.

ARTS, CULTURE & WESTERN HOSPITALITY

There's a warm, welcoming feeling wherever you roam the historic downtown area. Locals will greet you with genuine smiles and “Nice to see you.” In the center of town, looming large over a plaza ringed by centuryold trees, is the sub frequently photographed granite Courthouse. It’s the focal point for many festivals and events from late April through December.

Enjoy concerts and other musical performances, square dances, arts and crafts shows, car shows, western reenactments, marathons and the annual Whiskey Off Road, a mountain biking event. The Prescott Downtown Partnership and the Chamber of Commerce work with the City to support many of these activities, providing you and other visitors a glimpse of why Prescott is such a special place.

Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty

“I am not a normal Realtor; having been in the real estate industry since 1985, I help sellers sell and buyers buy because I make a difference in how people are served and because real estate matters,” Terri says. “There is more to it than just putting a sign in your front yard.”

She says she helps clients transition with sensitivity and professionalism to instill peace of mind as she guides them through the initial preparation to the final walk through for the sale or purchase of their home.

Combined with her work ethic, attention to detail and dedication to her clients, Terri is creative and innovative with good technical ability to work through the most challenging situations.

This type of service is important when you want to maximize your investment, she says. Her multiple repeat clients report that she has their best interest at heart and is attentive, organized and responsive to their special needs, wherever they are. Terri says she is “totally committed to helping you achieve your goal by going the extra mile every time because it is important to me that my unrivaled service exceeds your expectations.”
