Did You Know
As West Valley residents, we have uncommon bragging rights when it comes to the superior quality of health care and wellness programs close to home. Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb medical centers are recognized as two of the best hospitals in the country. In fact, people often move to the West Valley, and stay here generation after generation, for the superior health care available to them. We are actually in a “medical oasis.”
Community support makes this possible. Superior health care and wellness programs are only available for the community because of the community, thanks to generous contributions of time, talent, and treasure that totals more than $350 million and spans more than five decades. Support continues to be needed today to ensure the future of superior healthcare and wellness programs through the Generosity for Generations Campaign.
SUPERIOR HEALTHCARE: POINTS OF PRIDE
Sun Health Foundation is the exclusive philanthropic partner for Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb, and Sun Health Wellness.
The Foundation’s long-standing partnership with the community only grew stronger when Banner Health arrived in the Northwest Valley almost 10 years ago. It was natural for a philanthropic partnership to also form with Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb medical centers to continue the legacy of support for unparalleled healthcare today and for future generations. ■ Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb have been recognized by U.S. News and World Report (2019-2020) as two of the best in the country..
■ Over the years, both Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb have often been cited as one of the “Top 100 Hospitals” in the United States. Boswell, in fact, was designated Top 100 for five straight years, a feat no other hospital in Arizona has been able to match.
■ From the West Valley and beyond, more people are choosing Banner Del E. Webb’s Louisa Kellam Center for Women’s Health to grow their families. In recent years, record and near-record numbers of births total approximately 2,000 annually. The number of births has steadily increased every year from 300 births the first year the Center opened in 2002.
■ The more experiences the greater the expertise. Here are just two examples: – More than 12,000 breast procedures are performed every year at Banner Del E. Webb in partnership with Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. – More heart procedures are performed at Banner Boswell than at any other hospital in Arizona.
■ Banner Boswell’s Cardiovascular Program is recognized among the top programs nationally, and considered one of the few World-Class Programs of Distinction by Medicare.
■ The top medical professionals in the country seek out Banner Boswell and Del E. Webb to deliver superior care to patients. Examples include: – Rajeev S. Kathuria, M.D., Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgeon, Chief of Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery at Banner Boswell, is ranked in the top 25 cardiac surgeons nationally and is considered an expert in minimally invasive valve surgery. – The CORE Institute chose the West Valley as the starting point for their orthopedic practice and soon began an alliance with Banner Del E. Webb and Banner Boswell medical centers to provide superior orthopedic care. CORE is among the top providers of orthopedic and neurological care in Arizona.
And that word “superior” was chosen very specifically. Most hospitals say they are excellent, but we want to ensure superior. We want to have available healthcare that is so good that there is no reason to go to Los Angeles or Boston or Switzerland,
because the best is right here.” – Birt Kellam, Chair, Generosity for Generations Campaign
■ Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer in women. More breast procedures are performed at Banner Del E. Webb than any other hospital in Arizona and in fact, many hospitals now send their more advanced cases here.
■ Banner Boswell’s new Emergency Department and Patient Care Transformation: – Can now better accommodate the growing needs of our community – from 45,000 patient visits annually to up to 65,000 patient visits annually. – Has a larger lobby to accommodate social distancing – Adds 33% more patient beds – Serves as the point of entry for 80% of patients who are admitted to the hospital. 50% of those are cardiac related. ■ Banner Boswell Medical Center has earned the highest rating from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons for its patient care and outcomes in isolated Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting procedures. As a result, Banner Boswell is among the elite for heart bypass surgery in the United States and Canada – the only hospital in Arizona – to ever receive this recognition.
■ The most advanced medical procedures have been made possible with community support. One example: the Trans Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) hybrid surgical suite at Banner Boswell for cardiac care that significantly shortens recovery time.
