The ongoing Ex-Macello project represents neighborhood expectations and imagination, but a divisive wall hinders community understanding and engagement. We aim to empower the wall with more possibilities, allowing residents to actively access updates and project details, fostering community involvement.

PERISCOPE
Refers to elderly men observing construction sites, often seen with clasped hands behind their backs.
Perimeter walls block residents from accessing renovation information, hindering their involvement in the neighborhood’s changes.
Innovative mirrors offer 24/7 surveillance, letting visitors observe construction work through reflections for in-depth insights.

Inspired by Daniel Buren, our design disrupts space with black and white stripes, guiding customers through a visually stimulating experience that challenges traditional art-space perceptions. It incorporates an X-shaped shelving system, prismatic shapes, colored glass, and mirrors, inviting viewers to reconsider the connection between art, space, and the observer.

Dating back to the 16th century, prisons were the only space where the country could use violence to rule their people. As the times have evolved, the concept of the prison has gradually changed from a punitive to a corrective one. In many countries around the world, including Taiwan, prisons are facing a dilemma of high over-incarceration and recidivism rates, and there is a strong correlation between the lack of prison space and correctional outcomes. This Thesis Design Project is an attempt to propose the possibility of solving the problem of over-incarceration and improving the effectiveness of correction.

The 2020 Décor House Award responds to the surging global elderly population. Emphasizing safety for all age groups, the residential design prioritizes smooth circulation and functional public spaces, steering clear of sharp angles. Rooted in Hakka culture, the design translates tradition into a contemporary vocabulary, resulting in a residential complex devoid of angles and sharp edges.
