Annie Lennox: ‘Beyoncé is feminism lite’ Annie Lennox has argued that Beyoncé represents ‘feminism lite’. The Eurythmics star accused a number of artists of using the word ‘feminism’ to promote themselves while not representing feminist values. When asked about Beyoncé’s recent performance at the MTV Video Awards where she declared herself a feminist - Lennox revealed

in a recent interview that she sees Beyonce as feminist lite but she also added that Beyonce is a phenomenal artist and that she loves her performances Lennox recently unveiled the trailer for her new album Nostalgia. The seven-minute video features Lennox talking about her new record, which features interpretations of some of her favourite songs from the 20th century.

Chris Brown: ‘Every situation has made me a bigger and better man’

Chris Brown has insisted that he has no regrets about his previous actions. The rapper and singer frevealed in a recent interview that every situation he has experienced has made him a “bigger and better man”. The singer spent time in jail for attacking ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. Brown recently pleaded guilty to assaulting a man in Washington.

Ed Sheeran overtakes Coldplay for UK’s best-selling album of the year Ed Sheeran’s x has been named as the biggest-selling album of the year so far. The 23-year-old’s second studio album has been certified double Platinum by the BPI and has sold over 634,000 copies since its release in June. x spent eight weeks at the top of the albums chart and was also named the fastest-selling album when it sold 182,000 copies during its first week on sale. Sheeran said: “I’m so happy people have been enjoying my album so much - great to hear that it’s still the biggest seller of the year and has now gone double Platinum too. Looking forward to playing it live to my UK fans when the tour starts next week!” 9 of the 10 biggest-selling records were from UK acts, with Pharrell Williams’ album G.I.R.L marking the only international act. Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour is the second biggest-selling album of the year, having shifted 487,000 copies to date and failing to vacate the top 5 since its release in May. Despite leading the flock of best-selling re-

cords halfway through the year, Coldplay’s Ghost Stories slips to third place after selling 470,000 units according to Official Charts data. Paloma Faith is the highest-ranking female of the list, with A Perfect Contradiction beating Ellie Goulding’s Halcyon to become the fifth biggest-selling album of the year so far.
