INTRODUCTION

KRYPTON CHEMICALS SYSTEMS AND SOLUTIONS KRYPTON CHEMICAL provides to specifiers, architects, builders and property owners a high level of technical assistance, guidance and support in all phases of Projects, through to completion. KRYPTON systems are well known all over the World for their remarkable success stories in waterproofing. Supported by long term guarantees, as well as by an extended network of Approved Installers, these systems offer a high level of security in all projects.

VERSATILE SOLUTIONS IN WATERPROOFING

A RAYSTON SYSTEM FOR EVERY NEED

KRYPTON CHEMICAL offers a wide range of products in liquid form, which do not require flame or torches in their application, can be reinforced where appropriate, and are suitable for providing solutions in the most demanding situations. All of these systems are based on the most advanced polymer chemistry, and provide excellent technical performance with exceptional integrity in waterproofing.

• Roof Refurbishment: Our systems are ideal for application on almost any substrate. These products often avoid the need to remove waterproofing elements used previously. IMPERMAX membranes provide a custom made liner to the area treated, forming a “skin”, which is totally adhered to it. • New roofs: The great majority of roofs are treated with bitumen or other low technology systems. These products may offer a quick and economic solution, but also tend to fail prematurely. For modern flat or inverted roofs which are often complex in design and include vents / air conditioning units etc. KRYPTON roofing systems offer an economic long term solution. This is of even greater benefit where there is high traffic volume or the roof has a secondary use - car park or roof garden for example-.

IMPERMAX systems satisfy all needs in roof waterproofing

CONCLUSION With RAYSTON systems , it is possible to cover and satisfy all possible roofing needs.

Even though liquid waterproofing systems have been in the market for the last 30 years, they are still considered “new” technology products, especially if compared with products based on thermoplastic sheets or bitumen. Laying traditional systems normally requires: • • •

Gas burning torches to melt asphalt. Handling liquid asphalt at temperatures above 150ºC. Welding by use of hot air or gas burning torches.

Temperatures reached by such systems may well exceed 150 ºC, or in the case of welding by hot air, may reach beyond 1000 ºC. Such works normally imply high insurance costs, and Health and Safety risk hazards. In the U.K., it is demanded that companies handling such systems employ severe safety measures during and after the execution of projects, as in many cases, treated roof areas may even ignite a few hours after completion of work.

For this reason, in North European countries bitumen based systems are being progressively abandoned and replaced by liquid cold applied systems. For the architect, owner, builder or contractor, Krypton Chemical systems provide a high degree of security, and clear benefits in terms of health and safety at work. IMPERMAX waterproofing membrane has obtained a CLASS BROOF(t1) classification, according to EEC regulation BS EN 135015:2005, which relates to different materials behaviour when exposed to external fire. Thanks to the total absence of joints and overlaps, critical points of traditional waterproofing solutions are totally eliminated, providing a waterproofing solution which is continuous and homogeneous, protects real estate assets in the long term, and is easily adapted to any kind of construction.

SYSTEMS SELECTOR

PAGE 04

Please use the table attached, to select the system that best fits your project requirements. In the following pages, you will find a detailed overview of each system, including all the different components that make it, an explanation of every step to follow in laying these systems, and the main advantages gained from specifying these systems. It has to be made clear that all of these systems come from a main / base IMPERMAX system, approved for use in the EEC according to ETA nยบ 06/0263. Impermax has many different uses, the following system selector outlines application methods and ancilliary products to be used to achieve the optimum result.

ROOFING SOLUTIONS BASED ON IMPERMAX BASIC IMPERMAX BASIC system consists of following elements (according to ETA 06/0263):

PRIMERS The primer selected depends on the nature of the substrate, and the condition of it, please refer to the following table.

Substrates must always meet the following minimum requirements, (without these it is impossible to apply IMPERMAX): 1. Levelled. Assuming there must always be some slope in all roofs, for water evacuation. 2. Cohesive. 3. Regular.(In irregular substrates, it is imperative to reinforce the system using GEOMAX reinforcement textile).

PAGE 08

4. Free from fissures and cracks, which must be treated beforehand using GEOMAX reinforcement textile. 5. Clean, dry, without dust or lose materials, free from grease, oil and any impurities.

PRIMERS Dry-Porous Concrete / mortar / cement Vitrified ceramic or tile

WATERPROOFING IMPERMAX must be applied (according to the Installation Manual) on the previously prepared surface, at a minimum quantity of 2 Kg/m2, in order to reach a minimum thickness of 1,6mm.

TREATMENT OF CRITICAL SPOTS AND DETAILS See IMPERMAX D prescription.

FINISH IMPERMAX BASIC systems are normally covered with tile/slabs or gravel, depending on the specific use and specification for that roof, and its user load. It is always advised to protect this system with a layer of 200 g/m2 GEOTEXTILE (GEOMAX PROTEC), so it is not damaged during and alter installation.

SYSTEM 4 IMPERMAX D PAGE 16

The IMPERMAX D system, is mainly used for treatment of critical points such as expansion joints, fissures, vertical / horizontal encounters, etc. It is made of the following elements (as per ETA nยบ 06/0263): PRIMERS The primer selected depends on the nature of the substrate, and the state of it, according to the following table. Substrate will always have the following characteristics:

WATERPROOFING / TREATMENT GENERAL ASPECTS: 1. In general, for system IMPERMAX D (treatment of critical points) it is always advisable to reinforce the membrane using GEOMAX reinforcement textile. 2. Geomax geotextile must be used where vertical faces encounter horizontal faces and to dress sharp angles vertical or sloping sections will require thixotropic agent added to the Impermax. 3. The main objective is to always ensure total continuity and integrity of the membrane, helping to bypass obstacles and limitations in the waterproofing area. It is important to always observe the precautions as explained in the INSTALLATION MANUAL.

1. Cohesive 2. Regular 3. Clean, dry, free of dust and lose materials, exempt of grease, oils, etc.

In each of the most common cases, it is advised to adopt the treatment described below.
