Welcome
Welcome to our Autumn/Winter Season.

In other City of Culture news, we’ve appointed Corey Campbell, Balisha Karra and Justine Themen to take on the planning and programming of our home-produced work for 2021, with the aim of introducing fresh perspectives and working towards lasting change across the theatre industry. It’s hugely exciting and I can’t wait to see what they create.
This season we’re co-producing Frankenstein, My Beautiful Laundrette, The Gift and Crongton Knights in B2, along with a brand new, immersive theatrical party this Christmas, called Club 2B, which is sure to be a great way to celebrate the festive period with friends. When everything tells you who you should be how can you know who you are?
All his life Micaiah has been told he is clever, special... different. He might have been born in the inner city but he was still a boy when he left those low zones. He went to one of the best schools in the country, worked hard, made connections and now less than ten years later, he’s made it as a successful events organiser and importer. But when one of his friends is murdered and he breaks his own rule he becomes the centre of a storm that threatens to swallow Micaiah, his people, his family and even his reality.
Auditorium: B2
Who can he turn to as things fall apart? Can he answer the most important question of his life before it’s too late? Who am I?
Holding The Centre, the first big production from Birmingham writer Joan Carty, follows Micaiah’s journey through suburbia, inner city streets, and “here.” Exploring themes such as shadism, implicit bias, violence and deception, it takes audiences on a thrilling journey, moving them on many levels and leaves them wondering if they can know the truth about anyone or anything...including themselves.

Weds 11 to Tues 31 Dec
Auditorium: B2
Join us this Christmas at Club 2B - where you’ll leave reality behind as our host and club owner, the enigmatic “Z”, takes you on an exhilarating trip through time in an immersive theatrical party event like no other. Dress in your finest threads from your favourite era and strap yourselves in for a unique experience, as we transform the Belgrade’s B2 auditorium into Club 2B. You’ll be seated at one of our cabaret tables as the immersive performance unfolds all around you.
You’ll also have the freedom to explore the room, where you can eat, drink and party all inside the auditorium, as well as play at the gaming tables and dance as the live band rolls out a magical musical accompaniment to the evening’s entertainment.
Club owner ‘Z’ is not all he seems. This larger than life, charismatic character is none other than Zeus, the Greek King of all Gods and men, descended from the heavens in human form and driven by his obsessive love for the Goddess, Hera. As Gods they can take on the form of any man or woman in any time, so we watch enthralled as they move amongst the audience, telling their story of passion, jealousy and revenge across the ages, via a range of characters from Lady Godiva to the Great Gatsby.
Mixing the feel of a 1930s Berlin Cabaret club, a Secret Cinema event and an underground prohibition-era night club, this exclusive event is for anyone with a thirst for life, an open mind and a sense of adventure.
