Spare Parts
Safety equipment should include a wellstocked first aid kit, which should be packed in a weather-proof container. Spare tyres and the tools to fit them, an air pump, extra petrol or diesel, jump leads and flares may also come in handy in an emergency. Food and water supplies, a warm blanket, a good torch and extra batteries, a compass and bungee cords are all items that could be useful.
If a vehicle breaks down in the middle of nowhere, having some of the most commonly replaceable parts available can save waiting hours for rescue. These include fuses, hoses and clamps, spark plugs, belts, an air filter, oil, an oil filter, wiper blades and brake line. There are also various handy products and kits available that are designed to help simplify the repair process.
