Architecture Portfolio Š Razjan Hassan Selected works 2016 - 2018
Hello.
Personal Information
I am a trained architect with practical experience in Architecture & Urban Planning. A passionate, self-driven, hardworking, and willing to go above and beyond, to design spaces or objects that fits best in a sustainable lifestyle. A hard working and inquisitive person. appreciates to be challenged and values discussions in a team work.
I work at my best in an environment that pushes the current limits of my abilities and allows me the opportunities to gain the respect of my peers. My vital priority as an architect is the attention to the needs of the community, as my projects were often based on dialogue and participatory design methods, social sustainability, circular economy and sustainable building.
Throughout my academic career, I have discovered a philosophy that entitles design as an interdisciplinary, collective effort to respond to contemporary needs and future issues.
My goal is to help better shape the built environment through the creation of charming & functional architecture, the communication of good ideas, and by creating space which embraces human needs, emotions and identity. Through design we can help people improve their quality of life. I believe in the ability of architecture, research, and design thinking to effect good in the world.

The aim of this master thesis is to investigate a solution for achieving an extroverted and inclusive working environment that can encourage its users to interact, thereby creating a social platform where they quickly bounce ideas back and forth. The intention is to combine people at dierent ages and background with a common interest for sustainability and create a comfortable, homelike environment in the workspaces to enhance work efficiency and productivity. The result is a design proposal for a Co-Working HUB with flexible shared spaces for activities such as co-working and co- creating. The aim is to provide the users with an environment that encourages social interaction and enhance networking and collaboration opportunities for businesses by working in close proximity to people in other fields that share similar values. This will contribute to a city centre that will be attractive to visit, work and live in. Research by design is mainly implemented, and problems have been tested through digital model studies and sketching. The proposal should be seen as an example of how to demonstrate, educate, and inspire people to share, care, and collaborate, in order to generate new sustainable and innovative business ideas.

Flexibility is embedded throughout the space. The interiors accommodate events of all sizes, from small meeting rooms to large entrepreneurship conference. Offices/Closed Rooms are made with glass walls to create a sense of openness. The internal wall, which is the main architectural element defines how the space will be used, through for example placing the wall or going without.

Discussion
Necessary Intervention
Going back to main question
These qualities needs to be considered as a potential base for development and needs to be strengthens in one way or another. In order to do this we should consider:
How can we design for revitalization of a city centre that is drained out of urban life, by focussing on co-working spaces, for a resilient socio-economic growth of uddevalla City? The city centre is becoming too much introverted and social networks are becoming weak and disconnected. The big challenge is to make people settle down (live &work) in Uddevalla, to create a city centre that is full of live and activities that attracts the majority.
1 2 3
What is the next step? Consolidated city, robust city Centre The question is how to accelerate the transition to a consolidated city centre which is open for collaboration and sharing of all kinds and at the same time extroverted and open for the outside world, even-though change in such a big scale is a slow long-term process. Nevertheless Co-Working HUB might be a good starting point in showing the essential of sharing and collaborating, hopefully this ideas will inspire the close surrounding environment and boost a new trend of exchanging knowledge and how to regulate the transition from public to private on an urban scale too.
Making a consolidated master plan development for the city centre and provide a central point for people to meet. Make people come together. To bring in the green and blue environment into the city centre and try to make it visible by increasing accessibility to the surrounding nature. Increasing the access to public transportation and provide facilities that makes it convenient to be a commuter in the city centre. Connect the city centre and the train station.
Chamber (Courtyard) Office (Buildings) Skansberget
Continuation of block structure from the existing city centre and enclosing yards for a private oasis.
Salon (Side Streets)
Directing the streets towards one central square.
Gallery (Main Streets) Courtyard with private oasis Secondary and tertiary streets will preserve some of the privacy needed and at the same time connect with the main streets and roads to create a gradual transition from public to private.

Treasure Waste Location: Hammarkullen, Gothenburg, Sweden Client: Municipality of Gothenburg Partners: Miljöbron/Re:Challenge, Bostadsbolaget, Kretslopp + Vatten Status: approved, on hold for construction Discourse: participatory methods, social inclusion,
Hammarkullen is a suburb of Gothenburg that wants to step it up! The neighborhood of Bredfjällsgatan currently lacks of proper waste management options. There is a vision, however, that 67-68 Bredfjällsgatan can become a new hub, a Returum, of future recycling and upcycling activities rooted within the local community.

Returum:Hammarkullen would not only reduce local waste flows, but actually add value to wasted products simultaneously as stimulating popular education, empowerment and the sense of saftey in the area. The Returum design has developed through a series of participatory methods, such as interviews and workshops conducted with the local community and relevant stakeholders. The research indicates that the program of Returum will, and must, be flexible. Thus, the final proposal is a shell structure combined with scenario designs open for future developments over time.

With flexibility at the forefront of our design, we approached our spatial solutions with varying scenarios. These scenraios can suit the project and program depending on available resources during its evolution. For example, we have developped scenario 4, where buildings 68 + 67 are in full use for Returum Hammarkullen. 67
68 is programmed to house flexible and softer programming such as a community living room and small item swop shop.
68
67 is programmed to house the bigger and rougher stuff. Here visitors can swop furniture and other big items, artists can create sculptures and more...

Reco-Living Location: Götaplatsen, Gothenburg, Sweden Client: Municipality of Gothenburg Discourse: waste management, social interaction, co-housing, co-working, cradle to cradle, urban farming
The purpose of this project is to design a zero emission and plus energy Co-Living HUB in the center of Gothenburg. Where co-living is understood as an extroverted and inclusive typology that consist of co-housing and public facilities for recovering, learning, earning and socializing. The project offers creative spaces and a social network, which can encourage diverse users to meet, interact, share and exchange more resources like materials, tools, skills, knowledge, ideas and values. The social network is open and flexible for new collaborations to happen between different entrepreneurs, industries, researchers and inventors. A creative, productive and satisfying atmosphere combined with a social network for collaboration can help generate new sustainable and innovative business ideas. This project tries to inspire new entrepreneurs to start-up and manage different kinds of resource efficient businesses, which strengthens the local economy. The general aim is to create a togetherness where diverse people, activities and values are weaved together and support each other. Reco-living aims to turn the mindset of people to value things they already have, instead of replacing them with new stuff, and to proof that high quality of life is dependent on belonging to a eco-friendly community. The project tries to strengthen the circular economy and to encourage people to turn waste into a rewarded currency. Reco-living shows the synergy effects when technical and biological loops are coming together and support each other. Waste from one actor can be used as a resource for someone else, like it does in nature, which can help to reduce the need and costs for raw materials, energy and disposal in society.

GROWING HUB TO
MEET THE COMMUNITY NEEDS
- CREATE
- A FULLY PREPARED WOOD-WORKSHOP, LECTURE ROOMS, KITCHEN, SPORTSHALL ETC
These illustrations are done based on participatory methods. As this is about re-using the empty school building, the result is a time-line of a project with different stages showing what kind of activities, where and when it is happening. The project has the strategy of meeting the community needs by focusing on the available resources as assets, this can also be an example to other neighbouring municipalities. Team: Praveena Ashok Jayasingh (IND), Gitte Gustafsson (SWE), Razjan Hassan (NL)

FRAGMENTED
We tried to illustrate these by creating a Growing Hub - a Folkhögskola with community development programs by involving all possible local networks and organisations, locals with traditional skills and Orust kommun as key stakeholders to the improvement of the local community.
- CREATING
- SEVERAL BUILDINGS OF DIFFERENT SIZES
- MYCKLEBY SCHOOL
SOCIAL NETWORK/MEETING POINT
- INCREASED SEGREGATION; COMMUNITIES ARE SOCIALLY
The aim of the project is to show a possible scenario of how to work with the available local resources to meet the community needs. The project further explores as to what could happen if these resources are connected in the empty Myckleby school and how could it give rise to a new collaborative program as a synergy effect to activate the area.
- MAKING THE RICH CULTURAL SKILLS VISIBLE.
- A FULLY FUNCTIONING SCHOOL ENTITY THAT IS UNUSED
- REVIVE THE RICH CULTURAL HERITAGE OF THE AREA
Why?
Though Orust has a rich history of cultural heritage, since WWII farming the traditional occupation has been less prioritised which led to financial insecurity among the farmers in Myckleby.
- CREATE MEANINGFUL/CREATIVE/INNOVATIVE ATMOSPHERE/ THINK-TANK
