IDEEA ShortsUP is all about creating memorable experiences around the best short films in the world, once a month, in Romania’s largest cities.
We integrate shorts in a series of fun and elaborated events which are a mix of genuine cinema, live music, art exhibitions, installations and latest technology. Thus, we aim to create a much needed distribution platform for short films in the context of a highly dynamic film industry.
HOW IT WORKS Each month, we screen a collection of around 2 hours of shorts acclaimed in major film festivals across the world. We create our programme based on specific themes, such as: Love, Oldies but Goodies, Science Fiction, Comedy Night and many more.
Then, we choose an unconventional venue (exhibition hall, museum, underground station) and create “the ShortsUP experience”. Film goers are invited to play an active role in all our events.
ShortsUP was a guest star in the yearly programme of some worldwide known Romanian film festivals Transilvania International Film Festival, Anim’est, and collaborated with the most dynamic and creative professionals.
OUR
YEARLY EVENT Once a year, we create the Long Night of Short Films. An avant-garde concept that includes the best shorts of the year and films recommended by influential film makers and critics. Over nine hours of cinema and live music give birth to a unique, urban & cool atmosphere.
Cristian Mungiu, Cristi Puiu, Tudor Giurgiu, Corneliu Porumboiu, Radu Jude, as well as TIFF, Filminute or Anim’Est contributed to the selection of films. Cristian Mungiu, film director, Palme d'Or winner, on ShortsUP :
