The development of a diverse workforce can challenge the most experienced of management professionals.

Stress is the single biggest cause of long-term sickness absence, regardless of vocation. Managing stress does not need be a stressful experience.

Managing the ‘D’ Word provides employers and managers with the right tools to understand their responsibilities in relation to disability along with the changes made under the Equality Act 2010. Need to know exactly what a ‘reasonable adjustment’ is? This course is for you.

Managing the ‘S’ Word brings the expertise of RBLI’s Health Specialists to your business. Learn to identify the early signs of stress, develop your strategy and maximise the productivity of your team.

DISABILITY

STRESS

The Equality Act 2010 now replaces the Disability Discrimination Act bringing with it a wealth of legislative changes, not only to staff with disabilities but also those with characteristics considered as protected. These changes are designed to provide stable, consistent guidelines allowing those covered by the legislation to develop sustained employment.

In 2011, stress surpassed musculoskeletal disorders to become the most widespread cause of absence for manual workers, with the most common sources being workloads, organisational change and management styles. No longer the preserve of managers and underpressure desk-based workers, stress can have a major impact on the activities of any business at any time.

Managing DSE Assessments develops your understanding of current legislation and identifies the business benefits of correct workstation setup in your organisation.

DISPLAY SCREEN EQUIPMENT Introduced in 1993 and revised in 2002, the Health and Safety Executive’s regulations on the use of visual display units provide guidance for employers to improve the wellbeing of staff when using computer equipment. When implemented correctly within your business, these regulations can also reduce absences and the related costs caused by poor ergonomics.

Change and health management Coaching for Change

Healthy Working

Periods of change in the workplace can unsettle and intimidate a workforce. This can be most evident during changes to the working environment, career transition and redundancy.

Being open about health and wellbeing issues in the workplace requires a considered and understanding approach.

Coaching for Change supports those facing change in their career to understand the process of transition and manage their feelings through challenging times.

Healthy Working helps individuals understand how health affects their ability to cope at work, and gives them the tools to prepare themselves to make changes for more effective working practices.

CHANGE

HEALTH

Changeable market conditions result in changeable workplaces. Employees can be fearful or intimidated by required change, resulting in stress, anxiety and ill-feeling. By addressing concerns at the beginning of the process and educating staff to better understand the stages of transitional change, they will be able to manage their resulting thoughts and behaviours.

A difficult subject to address head-on, health affects not only staff with health conditions, but also their colleagues and managers. By increasing all of these individuals’ understanding of how health conditions and disabilities impact on the working environment, changes can be successfully implemented to improve productivity and reduce the related costs.

Managing a physical health condition in the workplace requires an understanding of pain, fatigue and sleep. By building on this, staff can develop their own effective coping techniques.

MEMORY

Cognitive health poses unique challenges which many businesses can be unprepared for. Employers engaging with a structured approach find affected staff will develop into valued colleagues.
