In 2020 during the early stages of the first national Lockdown Mark Titchner produced a public artwork entitled ‘Please believe these days will pass’ which appeared on billboard and poster sites in cities around the UK. In the following months as the grip of the Coronavirus pandemic tightened the work appeared extensively in news editorial around the world. Since then the artwork has continued to be widely shared and translated into other languages for exhibition outside of the UK. The work has also been reconfigured into different forms most recently as a large-scale installation in Southwark Cathedral, London. Mark Titchner is a tutor on the RCA Print Program and in a lecture in 2021 he presented this artwork to RCA Print students as a case study in approaches to ways of working during the pandemic.
