Artist Statement A light airy structure, of intertwining shapes, that create a voluminous open form, with the sensation of motion and one can see through it, to enable fluid reflection and layered shadowing, to perceive the unexpected. The essence of my work is to highlight the relationship between individuals, particularly to emphasise their unique character/ culture and social interaction, in a constantly evolving world, like a dance! My practice reflects my dual nationality and culture, as well as my work as Interior Designer with architects and undertaking sculpture diploma. My work considers modern issues of individual identities while integrating my interest in climate change and the beauty of natural phenomena in time, space and water. By using blown glass and porcelain, I wish to defy its hard materiality, to convey 3D motion in the round. I wish to enhance the fluid qualities through connections of materials with harmonious tension. I apply an understanding of kinology, philosophy of movement, to interpret kinetic phenomena across scientific, aesthetic and social fields. My constructional approach in ceramics is one I have developed to defy the sense of gravity of ceramics but also to enhance the handmade quality that gives a uniquness to each piece and a tension between the individual forms, just like an interactive conversation. The future .. is exciting..as new horizons open to work in collaboration with galleries and competitions, to develop work for the landscape and scaled up installations.

Spring Rotation
Blown Glass and Spring 30cm
Harmonious Tension Porcelain 25cm
In this brief portfolio, I would like to show the breadth of work and pathway of my experimentation that has develop into new directions.... Exploration into new ideas of connectivity and mixed materiality has been my focus. The freedom of rotating pieces of work, to be seen from different angles and playing with reflection and shadowing, has been a way of highlighting the effects of living through unpresidented times of the last bizare year. I enjoy the imperfections and spontanous qualities though the handmade process, that has brought a different feeling of contrast and the unexpected, such as in ‘Spring Rotation’ and ‘Harmonious Tension’, culminating in the latest ‘Rotation’ series. My ceramic sculptural pieces have a constructional feel made with methodical coil assembly and support structures, then slow drying, firing and sanding to a bonelike handfinish. By contrast the glass has an instantanious fluid expression as in ‘Rotation Glass’. The use of colour through underglaze and glaze adds another layer of interest, just like the complex world we live in.
Rotation Series
The intricacy of the intertwining shapes, that started with spontaneous drawings, have evolved into constructional sculptural solutions, that allows you to envisage being inside and looking through the forms reflecting nature’s power. Experiencing the expanding scale, cathedral like, that relates to volume, with light and shadow that constantly changes.
Rotation Flight Porcelain 30cm
I want to convey flight in motion even though the piece is ceramic. This is achieved with elongated protrusions curving around the form, when the piece is rotated in the round, directional lighting projects long shadows that suggest flight in time and space.
Orange Mirror Rotation Porcelain 40cm
“Revaluating movement, at the heart of philiosphy on centrifugal motion and cosmologies of space, eternity, force and time from the ancient civilizations to a new kinetic paradigm in the present.” My research in Ontology, philosophy of movement, through Thomas Nail’s book “Being and Motion”, have intreging relative themes to my own work. This informed my thinking, inspired and translated into exploration into 3D fluid forms, such as ‘Rotation Flight’ and ‘Orange Mirror Rotation’.
Rotation Glass
Blown glass 35cm high with Porcelain
... an instantanious expression, reflecting the fluid qualities of water through its transluscency and reflection contrasting with the hard porcelain structure...
The Future ... is exciting.....as new horizons open.......
