Local youth programs support remote First Nations youth by Ry Forsythe Collingwood Neighbourhood House’s Peer 2 Peer and CREW Indigenous youth programs are teaming up this holiday season to support the Ballantyne Project on behalf of CNH Youth Services. What is the Ballantyne Project? Dwight Ballantyne grew up in a remote Saskatchewan First Nation until age 21. He received a Premier’s Award for Indigenous Youth Excellence in Sports and represented Team Canada at an international hockey tournament in Europe. On the flight back from the tournament, he founded the Ballantyne Project in order to send supplies to the youth and young adults living on remote reserves. Feel free to watch the videos and check out the website to learn about his experiences and the unique challenges faced by youth living on remote reserves: https://www. theballantyneproject.com/about
