STAND UP FOR HOMOSEXUALITY -Rtr. Jiya THINKERBELL Jaisingh

'If homosexuality is a disease let the ones who are "sick" call in queer to work : " Hello, I can't come in today, still queer " Now there's not only the usual boy- girl relationship, but instead you have boy- boy and girl-girl too! I don't really see the point in creating such a hue and cry about different orientations. So what if a girl likes a girl or a boy likes a boy, how on earth is it affecting you? It's each one's choice on who they prefer, and society is no one to judge. India finally caught up to speed by decriminalising homosexuality. No government has the right to tell its citizens when or whom to love. The only queer people are those who don't love anybody. Like Martina Navratilova very, very rightly said : “Labels are for filing. Labels are for clothing. Labels are not for people!” People are people no matter of their sexual preference, so let them be who they are. God created Adam and Eve but, he never said there can't be an Adam and Steve. There's no point in using someone else's definition to define yourself. Create your own meaning and if anyone has a problem with it they can keep their opinions to themselves. Love comes in all forms; we are no one to restrict love to forms that appeal to us. So cheers to love, whatever its orientation may be!

KZo: <stares at the arrow, wide-eyed> Er... Umm... Why don’t we put that away for a while? Someone could really get hurt! <Cupid spoils his face.> KZo: I’ve been dying to know this, Cupid. Where do you get your undies from?! C: <Flashes a mischievous grin and says proudly> The same place you get them from ;)... Giorgio Armani of course! KZo: Oooo. We have good taste! (Due to space constraints, KZo skips a few questions) KZo: Wow this was quite an eventful and colourful Rapid Fire I must say and of course our Valentine’s Special Koffee Hamper goes to the God of Love! <Applause> C: Thank you so much Kzo! And before I leave, YOU are my target this time! B) K: Wha... (And THANKFULLY, Kzo is left speechless)

Miss Goody Two Shoes, Rtr. Devyani Shah is confused about love!

MY IDEA OF LOVE Love? I’m Confused!

Say the word love and it brings red hearts, cute teddy bears and heart shaped chocolates to your mind! Lovey Dovey couples holding hands and sitting in cafés sipping coffees, celebrating Valentine‟s Day and taking rain soaked walks along marine drive!! The picture is so cute and happy, it makes every singleton seethe with jealousy and want a partner for oneself! But is the real picture really so rosy? To be very honest, seeing couples drowned in love, staring away into the “soulful depths” of each others eyes, makes me sick! But everyone who‟s ever been in a relationship swears by the fact that it‟s the best feeling in the world! But almost every other day I hear the same people who are “committed” and “attached” complain about the regular temper tantrums they have to bear and the fights that take place and leave tears streaming down their cheeks! I always try to tell them how lucky they are to have someone who loves them and takes care of them and thinks the world about them!! But all I get in return is “you won‟t understand because you‟re not in a relationship!!” while my still single and ready to mingle friends get all moony eyed whenever their crush passes by, and when I wonder why they don‟t ask “the one” out, all I get are angry stares and even angrier “you won‟t understand, you have never had a crush on anyone!!” Phew!! I am totally confused!! Looks like EVERYONE on the planet, including the people in relationships are confused if love is what they would really give up everything in the world for or just another pain! It seems like I‟ll never really understand what the big deal about love and romance and Valentine‟s Day is all about! Some say love is friendship and some say its unconditional, I have heard it‟s all about giving and never asking in return, but somehow, I still don‟t understand!! Please, does anyone out there care enough about me to tell the confused little bubbles what LOVE is all about?!? *************************************************************************** * As you can see in my editorial team name, my views and ways don‟t really shout „love‟. I‟m The Slick supposed to be slick, getting my way through everything in my smooth ways. And as a maverick Maverick, it seems that I don‟t need anyone‟s help or that I‟m far from dependant; which maybe true but for Rtr. Siddhi some reason I was just drawn to this idea. In fact I wasn‟t even supposed to write this article, but Desai something told me that I just had to. People see me and tend to think that I‟m sort of a cynic and shares her people who know me always know that I have a view on everything. But never have I shared with thoughts, anyone how I feel about this very enigmatic yet essential feeling of love, so I thought I‟d give it a on love! try today. Love to me is when I see my parents bicker like two wild animals and then make up in matter of minutes, love is when I get a tetanus shot because of getting into a fight with my sister but right at the next two days she gets a pair of shoes for me from her trip to Matheran, love to me is when I see my mom keep everyone glued to that lucky place and keep the remote in angle when India is playing a match in cricket, love is when I see all these Rcjcites still come for events and work even when their boards are around the corner! Love has so many ways to be present in someone‟s life; it‟s omnipotent. It‟s present in the form of pure unadulterated love, friendship, family ties, cohesiveness to a group, passion for an art or instrument or sport or so many other ways. It‟s almost like gravity; sometimes it makes you fall and makes you fall hard, it breaks your special things, but it‟s what keeps you grounded and it‟s the reason why we exist in the first place. Life without love would be easy, but it surely wouldn‟t be called life anymore without love. My funda of love is pretty simple; when you care love is there. There‟s really no need to either deny it or defy it. So all I want to say is that don‟t take any of these many forms of love for granted, just cherish them to that extent that when it‟s lost or when it fades, what‟s left is lots of memories and the smile that comes with them. So in this month dedicated to love, in this air where love seems to be around, why don‟t you thank the people who you love and who love you and reciprocate the love to all those who‟ve made your life special. Let‟s celebrated love for what it is rather than what it‟s supposed to be!

Get yourself a date!

NOT ANOTHER LOVE STORY! And you thought Twilight was romantic? Guest member,

Rtr. Raunak Saya gets all cynical as she tells you why Twilight sucks!

Someone should sue stephenie mayer and edward cullen For PUTTING the thought In girls’ HEADS that each of them have a special vampire waiting for them And will live HAPPILY ever after...

*Apart from being beautiful, what do you do for a living? *There must be something wrong with my eyes; I can’t take them off you. *Did it hurt when you fell out of heaven? *Is there an airport nearby or is that just my heart taking off? *Were you arrested earlier? It's got to be illegal to look that good. *It must be dark outside. 'Cause all the sunshine in the world is right here. *You make me melt like hot fudge on a sundae. *You're like a dictionary - you add meaning to my life! *Excuse me; I think you have something in your eye. Nope, it's just a sparkle. *Hi, I'm Mr. Right. Someone said you were looking for me.

It starts off where Edward falls in love with Bella. Apart of the disgusting fact of her blood smelling good, this is coming from a 108 year old guy who is old enough to be her great-grandfather. He really needs to find someone his own age. It doesn't matter what his body looks like, he is still a 108 year old man inside and should stop playing around with little girls. I know dating older guys is considered cool but a 108 year old virgin? Girls, seriously? Yet, he is considered "FLAWLESS". His watching her while she sleep, it’s pretty damn creepy. Just imagine your guy telling you "I've been sneaking into your room at night, through the window, to watch you sleep... for MONTHS." Uh yeah, I'd be totally cool with that. *cough*. If he was a guy in real life I would’ve filed a restraining order against. like pixies? And one thing girls don’t seem to get through they’re head, HOW is it sexy when he bites your neck and leaves you to bleed?! Oh no sorry, he only drinks animals because he’s a VEGETARIAN VAMPIRE. So yeah, I guess it is very sexy when he bites your dog. Bella does not own a brain, I think this is the only reason Edward can’t read Bella’s mind. She’s nothing but a STALKERS- They’re not magnet for trouble. For romantic. They’re creepy. Call the cops! those of u who wish u were Bella Swan why do u want to change your amazing self into a stupid, senseless klutz with absolutely no self-esteem who’s running after a mythical character? I LOVE YOU is eight letters, sounds more like B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T to me.

The Slick Maverick and Miss Goody Two Shoes, sure seem to have a lot to say about love! After expressing, their ideas of love, they engage in a war of words, in The Vantage Point.

Valentine’s Day: It’s so western! -Rtr. Devyani Shah In ancient Rome the king wanted all the young healthy men to join the army and not get married or have families as he thought that they would get distracted and ignore their duty towards the state. And Saint Valentine would marry the men and women who wanted to get married, secretly against the king‟s orders. And once the king found out about this activity, he ordered that Saint Valentine be executed and recognizing his great sacrifice for love, the day of 14 th February is celebrated as the day of love, as we know it today and is named Valentine‟s Day in honour of this great saint. The concept of having a special day to celebrate love and make your loved ones feel extra special originated in the western world in respect of the legend of Saint Valentine and became very popular in no time. People started gifting tokens of their love to their sweethearts and treating them and taking them out. This day is also awaited by people to confess their love and ask their crushes if they would be their „Valentine‟. The celebration has not stayed limited to romantic love and has been extended to family members, friends, and just about any one who you love. The celebration of this day though very popular in the western world, has become prevalent and popular in India since the past couple of decades as the western culture and ideas have been started being followed in India roughly around that time. Even now, in India, this day is observed more in the metros and the larger towns, one doesn‟t find this day being celebrated a lot in the smaller towns and villages because they are either not aware about this concept or are not comfortable enough, celebrating it. The concept of love and romance in India is traditionally very quaint and subtle. We believe more in shy glances and discreetly holding hands and sharing secret smiles rather than openly flaunting our boyfriends or girlfriends and declaring our love from the rooftops. Despite being a western concept, it is extremely sweet and nice to have a day specially reserved for our loved ones, sure, we love them through the year, but who doesn‟t want an excuse to be pampered and petted some more and have fluffy teddies, yummy chocolates and beautiful red roses gifted by their special one? So western or Indian, lets keep celebrating this sweet celebration and continue spreading the love „coz love indeed makes the world go around!

The Vantage Point PYAAR, YAAR AND THE INDIAN VICHAAR! -Rtr. Siddhi Desai Whenever one tries to think about Valentine‟s Day, red roses, candy, heart shapes and cards immediately pop into our minds. It is considered as a universal celebration of love and affection but haven‟t you ever wondered, why don‟t we give our loved ones milk cakes rather than candy? Why is there such a heavy influence of the Western culture on this commemoration and tribute to the wonderful and universally common emotion of love? Is it because the west is the founder and probably a stauncher believer of the power of love? I beg to differ! Well you might say that it‟s so because love is something that our country is not very crazy about and that we are a society that still thrives on arranged marriages and factors like caste and background over romance and love; and that live-in relationships are something that India just won‟t be able to embrace. Well I don‟t agree! Why do always forget about the epic tales of love like those of Layla and majnun, Salim and Anarkali and Heer and Ranjha? Who says love in India and the western sort of love are different? And who said that Indians haven‟t been examples of the things love can make people do? History has been made, wars have been fought, and revolutions have taken place due to this very gentle yet powerful emotion of love. Don‟t forget that Ram fought against Raavan for his beloved Sita! And who can say Indians haven‟t cherished the art of love, they have in fact written a whole book love making! Even violent organizations like the Sri Ram Sena were left red faced when their violent attempts to force their rule on society against love were „lovingly‟ quashed by movements like the pink chaddi movement. This only proves that even though Valentine‟s Day celebrations take a toll on the lovebirds, they are not afraid! The dictionary clearly states that love is the emotion of strong affection and personal attachment; and it also states that Valentine‟s Day is a celebration of love. So it don‟t matter if your black or white, or if you‟re Indian or not! So don‟t hesitate to give the one you have amorous feelings for a red sari rather than a dress and feel free to drape your lover‟s tresses with a gajra rather than a rose, because Valentine‟s Day is as Indian as it is romantic after all!
