CIRCLE CRAFT 45TH ANNIVERSARY
Circle Craft: Celebrating 45 Years This show marks an important anniversary, a recognition of the past, but “Circle Craft: Celebrating 45 Years” is also show about the future. It is an exhibit about present and future artistic expressions in craft by Circle Craft’s members both members who have been with the cooperative for since the early years and members who have joined more recently. It is also about the vision of Circle Craft for its future, hoping to inspire a new generation of artisans who will ensure the continuation of the Circle Craft tradition of honoring craftspeople and their work. Forty years ago, Circle Craft Cooperative was formed in Victoria, BC to support the viability and growth of craft in British Columbia. A measure of its success can be seen in the works created by today’s members, works that push the boundaries of “the applied arts.” In these anniversary celebrations, our goal is to showcase to the world the excellence of our members, both in their technical skills and in their personal visions for the future of craft. Each of our members has taken their craft beyond the ordinary; each has moved their medium forward into new territory, and they have done so because of the excellence of their technical skills and the breadth of their imagination.
Welcome to their show.
