SOCCER FANS... On behalf of the students, faculty, and staff of Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC), welcome to our campus and to another exciting year of Yellowjacket soccer! As president of this great institution, I am excited for what the academic year holds for our student-athletes, both on and off the field. RCTC strives to maintain an outstanding athletic program, which includes setting examples of good sportsmanship and providing personal growth opportunities for our student-athletes through both academic performance and team experiences. This is accomplished by living our values of being learner-centered, valuing excellence, respect, teamwork, innovation, and, along the way, a little fun. In addition to our athletic programs, student-athletes on our campus may choose from a variety of other student life activities that make life-long connections and develop leadership and other life skills. So, while on our campus, feel free to tour the entire campus and check out what opportunities await you at RCTC. You’ll be amazed at what you’ll find. 2018 SOCCER SEASON PROGRAM
YELLOWJACKET SOCCER STAFF Bryan Weiss – Head Coach took over the program during the winter of 2017, and enters his first season this fall. Weiss has over 20 years of coaching experience, most recently serving as a head coach of girls’ competitive club teams for the Rochester Youth Soccer Association, one of the largest youth soccer associations in Minnesota. To add to his Rochester connection, he has coached at Mayo High School, Century High School, and Crossroads College. He currently serves on the board of directors for Minnesota’s Rochester Sports and the Southern Minnesota Adult Soccer Association. Weiss also has collegiate experience, with Judson College and Briar Cliff University. During his last season as the head coach of the Judson College women’s soccer team, the Eagles were ranked fourth in the national rankings and qualified for the national tournament. This team featured one All-American, two second-team All-Americans, and six national players of the week. Additionally, Weiss has held several college leadership positions: teaching sports management and physical education courses, and serving as a faculty sponsor for student organizations like Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Sports Management Society, and the Athletic Board. “My family and I are thrilled to become members of the Yellowjacket community. I look forward to leading the women’s soccer program in a way that reflects the tradition of excellence at RCTC,” said Weiss. Weiss graduated in 2002 from Briar Cliff University and earned his Master’s Degree from United States Sports Academy in 2008. He resides in Rochester, Minn., with his wife Kim and their two children, 15-year-old Kaitlyn and 3-year-old Charlie.
Torri Jordan – Assistant Coach comes to RCTC from University of Minnesota-Morris, where she started in goal for four years. In her senior season she led her team to a first round NCAA Tournament appearance, while gaining the accolades of UMAC Tournament MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and the Willis Kelly Athletic award. During her time at UMM, she was a leader on and off the field, and was named Team Captain for her junior and senior seasons. She currently holds numerous records at UMM, including saves in a single game (23), saves in a single season (180), and saves per game (9.47). Her coaching experience includes three years working as a staff coach at Camp Shutout, a week-long all-goalkeeper camp in Stevens Point, Wis. Torri graduated from UMM with a Bachelor of Arts in biology, and is currently pursuing a PhD in immunology at Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. During her four years at UMM, she spent a lot of time tutoring in biology, doing undergraduate research, and running both an on-campus improv troupe and the on-campus radio station.

ROCHESTER YELLOWJACKETS Sarah Baack protected the goal for ZumbrotaMazeppa High School, where she was team MVP. She is a defensive captain for the RCTC soccer squad, while majoring in law enforcement. She’s a fan of Marvel movies, 21 Savage, and sweatshirt weather. Shelby Bailey played at Mayo High School. In 2017, she scored a game-winning goal in overtime during the NJCAA Regional Tournament and was selected for the MCAC All-Academic Team. She is a defensive captain for the RCTC soccer squad. She is majoring in photography, a fan of Maroon 5, the movie Grease, and dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets. Micayla Biffert played at Stewartville High School, where she was a captain and once scored a goal from 40 yards. She is majoring in elementary education. She’s a fan of the Djibouti national soccer team, snap peas, and kayaking.
Dominique Brucki played for seven years for Euro FC (Rochester, Minn.) and was team captain in 2016 and 2017. She is currently working on her general education courses. She enjoys staying up late, sleeping in, and visiting her family in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, and California. Greta Cruz played for Northfield High School (Northfield, Minn.) where she was an All-State midfielder. She also won a Minnesota State Championship with the Minnesota Thunder Academy. She is majoring in Human Services. She’s a fan of chicken alfredo, Shrek, and the USWNT. MaKayla Day played for Euro FC, John Marshall High School (Rochester, Minn.), Florida Elite Soccer Academy, and Creekside High School (St. Johns, Fla.), who took second in the Florida High School Athletic Association playoffs. She is a offensive captain for the RCTC soccer squad, while majoring in physical therapy. She’s a fan of Manchester United, Ander Herrera, and Smino. Elleigh Hansen played defender at Stewartville High School and enjoys using her soccer skills during mission trips to countries like Honduras. She is currently working on her general education courses. She’s a fan of chickens, Florida Georgia Line, and brownie mix. Kallie Keller played forward and midfield for Stewartville High School where she was selected MVP and HVL All-Conference. While playing for RCTC in 2017 she was awarded NJCAA Region XIII All-Region Team, MCAC All-Conference 1st Team, and MCAC All-Academic Team. She is an offensive captain for the RCTC soccer team, while majoring in veterinary technician. She is a fan of Def Leppard, Carli Lloyd, and all of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Manigbe Kenneh played for Boston International High School (Boston, Mass.) and F.C. Hammer. She was a member of the 2017 RCTC soccer team and scored a goal in the last game of the season. She is majoring in computer science and law enforcement. She’s a fan of Rihanna, Cristiano Ronaldo, and horror movies. — Page 3 —
Jenna Madden played for Northern Lights Soccer Club and Anoka High School, where she was selected Ms. Defense. In 2016, while playing soccer for RCTC, she was selected NJCAA AllAcademic and NJCAA All-Region. She plans on pursuing a degree in zoology. She’s a fan of cows, USA Women’s Soccer, and Chris Young. Maureen Muthoni played midfield for Bookshine High School (Nairobi, Kenya) and Terror Squad Club Soccer, where she has been frequently selected as captain of the year. She plans on pursuing a degree in sports science. She’s a fan of ice cream, Arsenal, and helping children in need. Elizabeth Scham’s first season of soccer was with RCTC in 2017. She was an important part of the team, often playing the entire match without a substitution. She was awarded MCAC AllAcademic Team in 2017. She is majoring in AFA art, interaction design: web design, and graphic design. She’s a fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty, and Pat Benatar. Elisabeth Stelley played for Euro FC, RYSA, and Mayo High School, where she was Academic AllConference. She is majoring in Liberal Arts. She’s a fan of Karate Kid (1984), USA Women’s Soccer, and Frank Ocean.
MaKenzie Swanson-Larson was a team captain and played at Stewartville High School. She started every varsity game during her 10th, 11th, and 12th grade seasons. She was selected HVL All-Conference in 2015 and 2017. She is majoring in automotive technician. She’s a fan of her great grandma’s sloppy joe sandwiches, animals, and Moana. Valya Urbach played forward and goalkeeper for Lake City High School. She is currently working on her general education courses. She is a fan of the Hunger Games trilogy, Abby Wambach, and Alicia Keys.
Adilene Valeriano-Hernandez played both forward and goalie for Northfield Soccer Association and Northfield High School, where she was a captain. She is majoring in histology technician. She’s a fan of Led Zeppelin, USA Women’s Soccer, and Finding Dory. Monika Vargas played outside midfielder for the Austin High School Packers and AYSA. She is majoring in automotive technician. She’s a fan of Bad Bunny, Pele, and The Notebook.
Sydney Vrieze played for Stewartville High School, where she was a captain while playing both defense and midfield. She plans on majoring in aviation. She’s a fan of movies, the song What Does the Fox Say, and Coach Weiss.
