2019 BASEBALL SEASON PROGRAM

YELLOWJACKET BASEBALL STAFF STEVE HUCKE Head Coach, Steve Hucke, is entering his 17th year. He has a career record of 333-280-1 at RCTC, and 351-303-1 overall (14-25 for 1-year as Head Coach at UWRiver Falls). His teams have participated on the MCCC/ MCAC State and Region XIII Tournament 12 of the 16 years he has been here. The Yellowjackets were Co-Division Champions in 2014, 2013 and were Division, State, and Region Champions in 2011, and participated in the NJCAA DIII World Series in Tyler, Texas. His teams have consistently battled for title of Division Champions (2014, 2013, 2011 and 2010), have played in two Region Championships (2012-runner-up, 2011 champions), and have won one Region and one State Championship. He has coached six All-Americans and many All-Region, All-District, All-State, and All-Division recipients as well. He has been named Division, State, and Region Coach of the year numerous times. Many of his players have transferred to various four-year schools throughout the country and various levels of competition. He has a Master’s Degree in Sports Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Coach Hucke also is the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at RCTC and teaches in the Physical Education Department. He resides in Rochester and his Daughter, Danielle lives in Tempe, AZ and Son, Collin lives in Byron.

BRAD PFEFFER Assistant Coach, Brad Pfeffer, enters his second year with the Yellowjackets. He will work primarily with the pitchers in their development. Brad played one year for the Yellowjackets and was the number three starter on the mound for a team that was Co-Division Champions and finished fourth in the Regional Tournament. He then transferred to the University of St. Thomas and pitched one year for the Thommies. Brad then worked with the baseball team as a Student Athletic Trainer for his remaining years at St. Thomas. He has coached for the Rochester A’s Legion baseball team, worked various camps and clinics, and currently pitches for the Rochester Royals amateur baseball team during the summer. Coach Pfeffer currently works at the Rochester Athletic Club and recently accepted a position as a banker. He lives in Rochester, MN.

DAVE ADAMS Assistant Coach, Dave Adams, is entering his seventh season with RCTC. He works with RCTC’s hitters, outfielders, and first basemen. Dave is originally from California and played for the Legendary Coach, John Herbold, at California State University – Los Angeles, and he played in the San Diego Padres organization making it to Triple A. Dave has spent the last 20 years playing Amateur Baseball in Minnesota (22 with the Rochester Royals and one year with the Austin Greyhounds). His coaching experience has been with the Rochester Royals. He lives in Byron, MN, with his wife Alicia and daughters Danielle and MacKenzie.

ROCHESTER YELLOWJACKETS Brad Barkema is a freshman from Conrad, Iowa, and graduated from BCLUS high school. He played catcher last season. His athletic honors include four-time All-Conference and All-District baseball, three-time All-District football, First Team All-State baseball, First Team All-State football and state swimming participant. His academic honors include Iowa Print Writers Association First Team Academic All-State, Des Monies Register Academic All-State, and National Honor Society. His team honors include team captain for football and swimming his senior year, and the sportsmanship award winner for football. His family includes two older sisters, Leah and Abby, dad Kevin, and mom Gayle. His major is pre-physical therapy. His favorite movie is Tommy Boy. His favorite sports team is the Minnesota Vikings and his favorite food is chicken parmesan. He came to RCTC to further his education and baseball career as part of the Yellowjacket family. His special talent is cooking.

Cody Fosmire is a freshman from Bellevue, Neb., and graduated from Bellevue East High School. Last season he played third base, pitcher and first base. His family includes mom Elizabeth, dad Charles, and sister Breanna. He came to RCTC to study electrical engineering and play baseball. His favorite movie is Interstellar, favorite team is the Boston Red Sox, and favorite food is deer steak.

Jack Sperry is a sophomore from Rochester and graduated from Lourdes High School. Last season he played first base and outfield. He is team captain this year. His family includes mother Patti and father Rick. He is studying communications and journalism while at RCTC. His favorite movie is Borat, favorite team is Minnesota Twins, and favorite food is boneless chicken wings.

Jorge Reyes is a freshman from Hialeah Fla., and graduated from Barbara Goleman Senior High. He played as a utility player last season. He was a captain his senior year and three-time district champion. His academic honors include the honor roll and superior in state theatre competition. His family includes mom Isabel, dad Jorge Sr., and four younger siblings. He came to RCTC to study sports management and win a national title. His favorite movie is Lilo and Stitch, favorite team is Miami Marlins, and favorite food is bandeja paisa.

Bryton Lowe is a freshman from St. Ansgar, Iowa, and graduated from St. Ansgar High School. He played catcher last year and his athletic honors include Second Team All-Conference in 2017, and Honorable Mention First Team All-Conference 2018. His team honors include Top of Iowa conference Champs 2017. His family includes Brenda, James, Bethany, and Brianna. He is studying nursing and came to RCTC because it is close to home. His favorite movie is Major League, favorite sports teams are the Vikings and Twins, and his favorite food is cheesecake. Ryan Roby is a freshman from Farmington, Minn., and graduated from Farmington High School. Last season he played first and third base. His athletic honors include lettering in weightlifting and baseball. His team honors include the hard worker award. His family is mom Chris, dad Al, step dad Travis, brother Kyle, and dog Lucy. His major is elementary education with a minor in coaching. He came to RCTC to further his education and play baseball in a winning atmosphere. His favorite movie is Step Brothers, favorite team is the Twins, and favorite food is spaghetti with meatballs and rosé sauce. His special talent is dunking a basketball. Jeff Fredrickson is a freshman from Northfield, Minn., and graduated from Lakeville High School. Last season he played first base and pitcher. He is a three-time letter winner and two-time team captain. His family includes mom Stephanie, dad Dan, sisters Lauren and Harper, and brothers Ty and Nick. He is in the sports management program and came to RCTC for the opportunity to play baseball and further his education. His favorite movie is Superbad, favorite team is the Milwaukee Brewers, and favorite food is chicken wings. His special talent is one-handed clapping.

Adam Koenigs is from Stewartville, Minn., and graduated from Stewartville High School. Last season he played second base, shortstop, and pitcher. He is a two-time baseball letter winner and was on the high school Honor Roll. His family includes mom Kari, dad Kevin, and sister Samantha. He came to study business administration at RCTC because it’s close to home, affordable, and to play baseball. His favorite movie is Tommy Boy, favorite teams are the Vikings and Twins, and his favorite food is tacos. His special talent is kicking a 50-yard field goal.

Lucas Fredin is a freshman from Butterfield Minn., and a graduate from St. James High School. Last season he played pitcher and third base. His athletic honors include All-Conference in 2015 and 2017. Team honors include offensive MVP in 2015 and 2017, and MVP in 2017. His academic honors include academic spotlight and principal’s pal. His family includes parents Doug and Melanie and sister Olivia. He is studying secondary education and came to RCTC to get exposure and go on to a bigger school along with furthering his education. His favorite movie is Miracle on Ice, favorite team is the Twins, and favorite food is steak and potatoes. Carlos Dominguez is a freshman from Hialeah, Fla., and graduated from iMater Academy. Last season he played infield. His athletic honors include district runner-up, team honors include most improved, and academic honors include National Honor Society. His family includes Mom and Dad. He came to RCTC to study industrial education and win a national title. His favorite movie is The Sandlot, favorite team is the Yankees, and favorite food is pan con bistec. Matthew Rhodes is a sophomore from Carlisle, Iowa, and graduated from Woodward-Granger High School. Last season he played utility. His athletic honors include All-State, All-Conference, and All-District. His academic honors include academic All-State. His team honors include captain. His family includes Brett and Tracey. His major is business and he came to RCTC for baseball. His favorite movie is Land Before Time, his favorite team is St. Louis, and favorite food is Chinese. Alec Byrne is a freshman from Castle Rock, Colo., and graduated from Castle View High School. His academic honors include the Honor Roll. His family includes Shawn and Kim Byrne. He came to RCTC to be closer to family and study communications. His favorite movie is Invincible, favorite team is the Rockies, and favorite food is steak. His special talent is playing guitar.


2019 BASEBALL SEASON PROGRAM Jeremiah Van De Steeg is a sophomore from Hutchinson, Minn., and graduated from Hutchinson High School. Last season he played pitcher and utility. His athletic honors include All-Conference and AllSection. His team honors include captain. His academic honors include the Honor Roll and Dean’s List. His family is Gary and Brenda and four siblings. His favorite movie is Shawshank Redemption and favorite team is the Minnesota Twins. He came to RCTC to complete is generals and play baseball. His special talent is music, specifically piano.

Erik Thorberg Jr. is a freshman from Lakeville, Minn., and graduated from Lakeville High School. Last season he played pitcher. His family includes Erick Sr. and Karla. He came to RCTC to study environmental science and play baseball. His favorite movie is Miracle on Ice, favorite team is the Minnesota Wild, and favorite food is tacos. His special talent is juggling. Zach Wolter is a freshman from Grenada, Minn., and graduated from Granada-Huntley-East Chain High School. Last season he played short stop and second base. His athletic honors include threetime All-Conference, All-Area, All-State Class AA. His academic honors include three-time B Honor Roll. His family includes parents Matt and Deb and Brother Owen. His favorite movie is Superbad, favorite team is Minnesota Gophers, and favorite food is chicken. He came to RCTC to do his generals and figure out where to go next and continue playing baseball.

Gannon Hank is a freshman from Bettendorf, Iowa, and graduated from Bettendorf High School. Last season he played pitcher. His academic honors include the Honor Roll. His family includes mom Janine and dad Brad. He is studying sports management and his favorite team is the Chicago Cubs.

Sanders Napoles is a freshman from Cuba and graduated from American Senior High School. Last season he played third base. His athletic honors include District runner-up and team honors include senior year captain of the varsity team. Academic honors include National Honor Society. His family includes mom, dad, brother, and sister. His favorite movie is Apocalypto, favorite team is the Yankees, and favorite food is wings and mozzarella sticks. He came to RCTC to prove himself academically and athletically.

José Angles is a freshman from Cuba. He graduated high school from Miami Coral Park. Last season he played PO. His family includes mom Katiurka, dad Jose, and brother Jose. He came to RCTC to study coaching and play baseball. His favorite TV show is The Walking Dead, favorite team is the Red Sox, and favorite food is sushi. Ben Strassman is a freshman from Golden Valley, Minn., and graduated from Robbinsdale Armstrong High School. Last season he played pitcher. His athletic honors include two-time letter winner. His academic honors include the Honor Roll and Dean’s List. His family is Perry and Sherri Strassman. He came to RCTC to continue his athletic and academic career and is studying business. His special talent is juggling.

Hunter Todd is a freshman from Calmar, Iowa, and graduated from South Winnishiek High School. Last season he played second base. His athletic honors include three-time All-Conference and two-time All-District. His team honors include three-time MVP. His family includes Rhonda, Curley, Jaron, and Braiden. He came to RCTC to play baseball. His favorite movie is Napoleon Dynamite, favorite team is the Cleveland Browns, and favorite food is bacon cheeseburger. His special talent is ping pong.

Zach Nelson is from Hayfield, Minn., and graduated from Hayfield High School. Last season he played pitcher. His athletic honors include nine letters, two All-Conference, All-District, football and baseball captain. His academic honors include the Honor Roll. His team honors include two-time section runnerup in baseball. His family includes mom Holli and brothers Brady, Ben, Ryan. He came to RCTC to continue his academic and athletic career. His favorite movie is Moneyball, favorite team is the Twins, and favorite food is steak and mashed potatoes.

Ethan Hurn is a sophomore from Granada, Minn., and graduated with honors from Martin Luther High School. Last season he played utility and pitcher. His athletic honors include four-time All-Conference, four-time All-Area, three-time All-Section, two-time All-State all for baseball. His team honors include two-year baseball captain. His family includes mother Elaine, father Dave, and brothers Dalton and Carson. His favorite movie is The Other Guys, favorite team is the Minnesota Twins, and favorite food is ice cream. He came to RCTC to play baseball.

Parker Anderson is a freshman from Sherburn, Minn., and graduated from Martin County West High School. Last season he played pitcher. His athletic honors include All-Area selection 2017, Chad Thiesse Baseball Award Winner, and All-Conference 2018. Team honors include 2018 Captain and Silver Slugger 2018. His academic honors include the Honor Roll and the President’s List. His family includes Jared, Michelle, Payton, and Paige. He came to RCTC to play baseball and get his generals done. His favorite movie is Step Brothers, favorite teams are the Minnesota Gophers and Minnesota Twins, and favorite food is Chipotle. — Page 4 —
