This year’s program is dedicated to Ted Gunnarson, who was a long-time instructor at RCTC, teaching from 1964 until his retirement in 1995. He was an avid football fan and supported the Yellowjacket football program on a volunteer basis doing statistics through the year 2011 — a full 16 years after his retirement from the College. His dedication and passion for the game and players throughout all his years at the College will never be forgotten and always Farewellappreciated.fellowYellowjacket.

Welcome to Yellowjacket Football! As RCTC’s President, I am eager to see what this season holds for our student-athletes, both on and off the field.

RCTC has a reputation for striving to maintain an outstanding athletic program, including setting examples of good sportsmanship, and providing personal growth opportunities for our student-athletes through both academic performance and team experiences. This is accomplished by living our values of being learner-centered, valuing excellence, respect, teamwork, innovation, and, along the way, having a little fun. In addition to our athletic programs, our student-athletes may choose from a variety of other student life activities to assist them in developing their leadership and other life skills. We encourage you to check out what opportunities await you at RCTC by going to www.rctc.edu. You’ll be amazed at what you’ll find.

WELCOME TO ROCHESTER,

ASSISTANT COACH ANTONIO MCKINNEY started his RCTC coaching career in 2022. With his extensive playing and coaching experience, he’ll take lead of the Yellowjacket’s defense. Coach McKinney is no stranger to this side of the ball; he played both high school and college owning the defensive secondary. Coach McKinney comes to RCTC after two years at Vermilion Community College in a similar role. Prior to VCC, he coached at Green Oaks Performing Arts Academy where he served the 2020 season as the defensive backs coach and special teams coach. Assuming the role of assistant coach, their season was nothing short of a success. Prior to that, he was the Head Coach of a Minden Junior High School in Louisiana. McKinney wants to bring detailed, disciplined, and determined attributes to the Yellowjacket program. Coach McKinney is also starting his first year with RCTC as the College’s equipment manager. A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Tony and Keyana McKinney are the parents of Tony “Prince” McKinney, Jr.

ASSISTANT COACH DEMARIUS PITTS is entering his first season at RCTC. His prior experiences were at his alma matter, Loachapoka High School where he coached for two years as the Defensive Back Coach. His next stop was Bullock County High School as the Co-Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach. He is very excited to bring his intensity, athletic background, leadership skills, and resilient drive to the program to help athletes obtain the highest grade of their potential both on and off the football field. Coach Pitts is not foreign to the defensive side of the ball considering that he had a productive career playing defense and offense. Pitts is a 2014 graduate of Loachapoka High School. After graduating from Loachapoka, he attended Lane College to earn a Bachelor of Science degree and graduated in 2019. Coach Pitts is from Loachapoka, Alabama.

ASSISTANT COACH CHRISTIAN WILKERSON is a young coach coming to RCTC in 2022 as the Offensive Line and Special Teams Coach. Coach Wilkerson started his coaching career while he was attending Southern University in Shreveport, Louisiana. He spent the past two seasons at Vermilion Community College in the MCAC. In 2015 Coach Wilkerson volunteered at his former school, Southwood High School, where he assisted in coaching linebackers. From 2016-2018, he was moved to a regular assistant position taking over the defensive backs. During his tenure he had several all-district players while also helping players find homes on the collegiate level. Upon returning home from attending Grambling State University, Coach Wilkerson took over the running backs and offensive line position at Green Oaks Performing Arts. The Giants improved rushing from 98.9 yards per game to 154.3 yards per game while also producing the Giants first 1,000-yard rusher during Coach Isaac’s tenure. He is looking to continue mentoring young men and helping them grow in life while pursuing their goals. Coach Wilkerson is originally from Shreveport, Louisiana.

ASSISTANT COACH LABRANDON TATUM is a young coach that is starting his coaching career at RCTC in 2022 as the Defensive Line Coach. He is very excited to bring his intensity, athletic background, leadership skills, and resilient drive to the program to help athletes obtain the highest grade of their potential both on and off the football field. Coach Tatum is not foreign to the defensive side of the ball considering that he had a productive career playing defense and offense. Coach Tatum is a 2017 graduate of Notasulga High School where he was All-State. After graduating from Notasulga, he attended Trenholm Tech Community College and transferred to the University of North Alabama where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. He is from Tuskegee, Alabama.

Terrence Isaac Antonio McKinney Christian Wilkerson Dustin Beard

ASSISTANT COACH DAVID NGUYEN returns to RCTC as a coach after an outstanding tenure playing. Nguyen played at John Marshall High School in Rochester, Minnesota before playing at RCTC for two years. Coach Nyguen will assist RCTC’s offense with great presence at the offensive line position. He plans to give back to the program in which made him the man he is today. Coach Nyguen brings much excitement to RCTC with a host of family supporters.

HEAD COACH TERRENCE ISAAC SR. started at RCTC in the fall of 2022 as the Yellowjackets Head Football Coach. Coach Isaac is no stranger to the MCAC and played on two state championship teams from 1995-1997, while also earning NJCAA All-American honors in 1997 at Vermilion Community College. As an All-American football player, he compiled 31 touchdowns in two years and racked up 132 catches. After Vermilion, Isaac went on to play football at Texas A&M Commerce and Midwestern State in Texas. After college, he went on to play arena league football and was invited to training camp with the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs. Coach Isaac began coaching in 2005 and has won three state championships as a coach with two of them as head coach. Coach Isaac spent the 2020-21 seasons as head coach at his alma mater, Vermilion Community College. He has had a nonprofit organization since 2008 called Dad for Life, where he mentors and gives guidance to young men without fathers. Coach Isaac has dedicated countless hours making an impact in the lives of the young men who he mentors. He is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and is married to Candice. They have three children, Amayah, Terrence, and Kaiya.

ASSISTANT COACH JACOB HUNTIMER is entering his first season with RCTC. Spending time with other programs as an intern and assistant coach (2019 intern/assistant Quarterback Coach at Butler Community College, 2021 volunteer assistant Defensive Line Coach at Wichita Force), he is ready to assist with RCTC defense. The best thing about the opportunity to coach at RCTC is to be able to teach and mentor the players into great football players. He has a supportive family ready to cheer on our RCTC Yellowjackets.

Coach Beard comes to RCTC from the United States Navy where he recently was honorably discharged as an enlisted sailor. He hopes to bring the same core values of his naval career: honor, courage, and commitment to the Yellowjacket Program. Originally from Houston, Texas, he is married to Tiffany Beard with one young son, Rustin.

ASSISTANT COACH DUSTIN BEARD began his RCTC coaching career in 2022. He spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons at Vermilion Community College. Coach Beard is a student of the game with vast experience at the receiver position, and he’ll be taking the lead of a talented group of wideouts as the Wide Receivers Coach and Special Teams Coordinator.

Complementing the RCTC medical staff are physicians and staff of Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine and Olmsted Medical Center. From Mayo Clinic we have head team physician Dr. Jacob Sellon (eighth year as Director), Dr. Brennan Boettcher (first year), and Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Aaron Krych (eighth year) as well as Dr. Brian Sutterer. Dr. Matt Thompson is in his 14th year as RCTC’s Sports Medicine Physician from Olmsted Medical Center.

In order to eliminate barriers we take appropriate measures to assess each student’s ability to participate and benefit through placement testing and counseling. Based on the assessment and counseling, students are then provided with campus services or a referral to community services to be better prepared for successful participation.
