WRESTLING FANS...

Welcome to Yellowjacket Wrestling! As RCTC’s President, I am eager to see what this season holds for our studentathletes, both on and off the mat.

RCTC has a reputation for striving to maintain an outstanding athletic program, including setting examples of good sportsmanship, and providing personal growth opportunities for our student-athletes through both academic performance and team experiences. This is accomplished by living our values of being learner-centered, valuing excellence, respect, teamwork, innovation, and, along the way, having a little fun.

In addition to our athletic programs, our student-athletes may choose from a variety of other student life activities to assist them in developing their leadership and other life skills. We encourage you to check out what opportunities await you at RCTC by going to www.rctc.edu. You’ll be amazed at what you’ll find.

ASSISTANT COACH RANDY RAGER is a long time former Head Coach for RCTC and has been here for over 15 years--several times being named the Conference Coach of the Year and NJCAA Man of the Year. Coach Rager led several teams to a National Championship while also mentoring a few individual Nationals Champions. He is currently a health and physical education and outdoor instructor at RCTC in addition to the assistant wrestling coach taking on roles such as: maintaining budget, providing study halls and grade checks, helping with mat technique and conditioning. Coach Rager has a great deal of knowledge and wisdom that continues to benefit this program in many ways.

HEAD COACH ANDREW HACKENMUELLER is entering his second season at RCTC. Andrew was the MCAC Conferene Coach of the Year and NJCAA Coach of the Year last season. Growing up in the STMA Program he was a three-time state placer and a stable part on the team winning three State Championships. After high school, he wrestled at North Dakota State University for two years and transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse. He was at Albert Lea High School where he was Youth State Coach of the Year while also serving as the Head Assistant Varsity Coach helping five athletes work to D1 and D2 scholarships. After three years in Albert Lea, Coach Hackenmueller moved to Forest Lake, MN helping that program make it back to the state tournament for the first time in 25 years. Coaching several state placers and a state champion each of the three years there. During the summer, Coach Hackenmueller is a big advocate for freestyle and Greco coaching the MN National Cadet Team. He is looking to help each athlete reach their ultimate goals, guide the team toward that National Championship, and build on the already solid foundation of the program established by the past coaches and athletes.

HEAD ASSISTANT COACH ANTHONY WESLEY is from Southern California, where he was a two-time California State Qualifier and a two-time State Greco Roman Champion. Coach Wesley wrestled 141lbs and graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in business. While in college, he was twice a Greco Roman National All-American at U20s and U23s. Most recently, he placed fifth at the African Continental Championships earning a #57 ranking in the World and a bid to the World Championships in Serbia representing Cape Verde. Coach Wesley served as a volunteer last season while earning his master’s degree from West Virginia University. This year he is taking on the Head Assistant Coach role which includes running practices, lifts, small group, and recruiting.

Coach Petersen is a twotime High School National All-American (Freestyle) champion. After high school, he attended college and competed at D2 Minnesota State University Mankato, and began his pursuit of a bachelor's degree in nursing. Over the last couple of years, he has been a youth and high school coach at his alma mater Byron High School and a lead counselor at David Thorn Wrestling Camps. Matt comes in as an assistant coach helping lead the day-to-day practices, structure small group workouts as the “lightweight” coach, and is an asset as a recruiter.

HEAD ASSISTANT COACH AUSTIN GEORGEN is a two-time State Champion from Caledonia and a four-time All-American for D2 powerhouse St. Cloud State University (SCSU). He graduated with a degree in Health and Physical Education and stayed on as a graduate assistant at St. Cloud State University to help the team win the first of several National Championships. Upon leaving SCSU he became head high school coach in Wisconsin for a few years. Moving to the Rochester area and working for John Deere, Georgen is taking on a role as “heavyweight” coach.
