My name is Davin Peterson, and I am the Vice President of our Western Agriculture region, which includes our agriculture locations in Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington. GS Rate Controller provides integration of Liquid or Dry application. The GreenStar™ (GS) Rate Controller allows the GreenStar display to integrate with anhydrous ammonia (NH3) applicators, such as the John Deere 2510 Series of nutrient applicators, self-propelled sprayers, liquid manure applicators, liquid fertilizer applicators, and many pull-type sprayers to accomplish the following: • Automatic rate control • Map-based prescriptions • Field documentation • Swath Control Pro™ (activation required) In addition, the GS Rate Controller can also be used to provide Swath Control Pro for planters.

John Deere Field Connect uses field-installed probes to monitor moisture levels at various depths. It then sends the information to a web-based interface where you can see the data on your computer or mobile device, so you can make timely irrigation decisions from anywhere.

■ Weather Station collects in-field air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and direction. All this information is sent to the web and can be accessed from your desktop or mobile device, so you can calculate evapotranspiration (ET), a critical measurement in irrigation planning and scheduling. You can also identify the need for freeze protection, or determine the best time to spray your crops.

No more overwatering … studies show that 80% of producers overwater, which not only increases your operating costs, it can saturate the soils, reducing growth and yield, and increasing the chance of soil fungal disease. And no more under-watering … obviously you want to get the most out of every drop, and Field Connect delivers. You can improve plant health by increasing moisture at key stages, such as pollination, or to help plants pull in nutrients. Crop stress can be better monitored and managed, helping you build root zones for a better stand and better yield.

■ Pyranometer measures solar radiation, another key ingredient of evapotranspiration. ■ Temperature probe lets you measure air or soil temperature. Acreage Reporting Each year you are required to report your planted acres to both crop insurance and to your local FSA office. The process is often made more difficult than it needs to be. Here are some questions you should ask yourself: 1. Does my agent provide an updated copy of my FSA maps to me? 2. Does my agent offer to submit my maps and acres to my local FSA office on my behalf? 3. Do I spend too much time reporting acres to the FSA office, or do I simply stop and sign once they have prepared my 578s? 4. Can my agent provide customized mapping information by crop for my entire farm?
