Precision Products Team – A MS I nsight We’re excited about the new technology that John Deere is offering for 2014 because it helps our customers work more efficiently and with ease of operating. One new exciting feature is the Wireless Data transfer between the machine and customer’s Apex. Beginning in January, it will be possible to send data wirelessly to a server from machines that are equipped with JDLink, Remote Display access, 3000 receiver and a 2630 display, along with the correct wiring. This also allows prescriptions (matching seed hybrids to soil types to get the most out of your fields and plant heavier in more productive soils) to the machines wirelessly, which saves time and gives customers the information from documentation as soon as you change the farm, field, or client. One thing that is very important to John Deere and to our customers is setting up their MyJohnDeere.com account to make this all work together. From the MyJohnDeere.com site you will be able to access JDLink, Farm Connect, Stellar Support, and the Operation Center with one login ID. Since winter is approaching, it’s a great time to take a look at your technology needs and what RDO Equipment Co. can do to help you make sure you are getting the most out of your inputs so you can maximize your profits. This doesn’t just mean autosteer for tractors, sprayers, or combines – but taking a look at John Deere’s products from tillage, planting, fertilizing, spraying, and harvesting and how they can fit into your program to help you do any of these tasks faster and more efficiently. Our Community Involvement – 2013 At RDO Equipment Co., we believe in helping make the communities we do business in a better place. We believe in giving back not only with dollars and cents, but with our time. This past year, RDO Equipment Co. introduced Community Time. It’s a way for employees to spend 8 paid hours doing volunteer work. We share our Community Involvement in many ways. Take a look in any store and you’ll see our Community Involvement Boards that lists the recent ways we’re giving back. Here are just a few examples of how our stores are making a difference.

RDO Equipment Co. Partners with City of Redfield, SD for Community Time Project After the Community Time initiative was announced, the RDO Equipment Co. – Redfield, SD team started looking for a way to give back. They reached out to the City and asked where the team could donate some time.

The RDO Equipment Co. team was able to help the City of Redfield, SD during a crucial time earlier this summer. The playground they helped prepare and assemble is now enjoyed by the entire community.

The City mentioned a playground project. Due to the heavy rainfall in Redfield this spring, the City was behind on several of their annual projects. The store was asked if they could help with dirt prep work and set up a new playground. In late June, they spent a week using their Community Time. They used a skid steer to prep the dirt and then got a post hole digger and drilled all the holes. After the playground equipment was set up, they leveled it all and poured the concrete. “Due to the size of this project, it allowed us to commit to a week’s time from employees and see this project from start to finish. The City was so grateful for the extra effort we put into this project, and how it allowed them to keep up with their large workload,” said Clae Hoots, RDO Equipment Co. Store Manager. “From an employee perspective, we felt great giving back to something that impacts so many families and community members. If it wasn’t for our efforts, this playground wouldn’t have gotten done as quickly as it did, and not as many people would’ve been able to enjoy it all summer long,” he added.

RDO Equipment Co. Yuma Donates Time to Local Food Bank Beginning this summer, small groups of RDO Equipment Co. team members give their time at their local Food Bank in Yuma, AZ. Yuma County has the highest unemployment in the nation at 30.5% and child food insecurity is the highest in the state at 42.9%. Each month, Yuma Community Food Bank feeds 20,000 individuals; donating one hour of time is valued at $21.97 for each person who volunteers. While there, RDO Equipment Co. typically help package food. Shelbie Harris, Receptionist, was one of the employees who volunteered. She said that the experience was very uplifting, and the employees at the food bank were so appreciative of the RDO

Equipment Co. volunteers. “We were told many times how grateful they were, and how something as simple as sorting food saves them time and money.” She added, “It’s a great feeling to be able to take a couple hours of the work day to represent our company and team while helping the community. It’s beyond my expectations for an employer.”

CROP INSURANCE CORNER APEX FOR CROP INSURANCE REPORTING

The crop insurance industry is working towards implementing standards that allow for producers to use their “precision farming records” when reporting acreage and production information. Option 1: Combine Yield Monitor Data for Production Reporting Only You are able to use your combine yield monitors to report your production for yield history as well as for losses. This practice is approved by the Risk Management Agency (RMA) and is accepted by John Deere Insurance Company as well as most other AIPs when certain conditions are met. Here are some important tips to review in order to ensure that your records are deemed acceptable. Requirements 1) Maintain a contemporaneous (occurring or originating at the same time) ledge by crop 2) Printed records from combine monitors must show: • Location of field (field identification, PLSS or FSN) • Name of crop • Date harvested • Number of pounds or bushels of the crop 3) Identify the unit number that correlates with the field identification on the records 4) An adjuster will verify that the field identification can be correlated with the unit numbers for the crop of the current year. If production from combine monitor has been adjusted for moisture by the insured • If the Field ID cannot be correlated to a unit number of the crop, production will be considered “commingle”, unless other verifiable records exist.

• If production from the combine monitor has been adjusted for moisture by the insured or by the combine monitor, this recorded amount will be compared against the adjuster’s measured and calculated production. Recorded Production Since you are able to use your combine yield monitors as yield history for losses, the steps below are taken by an adjuster to determine recorded production for each unit of the claim. • Adjuster Determined Harvested Production: The adjuster will determine the total harvested production by adding measured production in any storage structure(s) and/or production reflected on settlement sheets in bushels/pounds for the crop. • Combine Yield Monitor Production: The adjuster will sum the bushels/pounds by unit from the insured’s combine monitor records for all acres of the crop insured under the policy. • Comparison: The adjuster will then compare the yield monitor production against the adjuster determined production and prorate as necessary. • Note: Any un-harvested appraised production or uninsured production to count will be added to the individual units when applicable. This is a guideline for those that are only using a yield monitor with no GPS signal. In the next edition of the crop insurance corner, we will outline the revolutionary process of using the APEX generated reports to do the same steps as above, which can even further eliminate the need for keeping traditional harvest records.
