HISTORY Bedford Thunder was established in January 2013 as a place for players of all ages and levels of experience to come and play Basketball in a social, friendly environment. The two founding members of the club met at the University of Bedford in 2005 and having stayed to work and live in the local area were aware that there was little or no provision for local players.
PROGRESS Numbers steadily increased and the decision was made to enter the Herts Premier League for the season 2014/15. Starting in Division Two, Thunder went on to claim both the league and play-off final titles and finish as runners-up in the cup competition in their first campaign. Promotion to Division One followed for the 2015/16 season and the club intend to enter a second men’s team into the league next season.
FUTURE In January 2015 the Bedford Thunderbolts were launched, offering term-time, weekly training sessions for both boys and girls aged 10-14. Thunderbolts will be entering the Bucks League for the 2016/17 season. With all of this expansion Thunder continues to be a social club and retains its core focus on always providing a welcome environment for anyone of any age or ability to come and play.
