If you, like me, have light eyebrows, you probably struggle to find a pencil, powder or gel that doesn’t make you look like you’re about to host The Hunger Games. I wonder how the Sephora makeup artists keep a straight face after turning my eyebrows a deep gold or orange with their overpriced brow enhancer of choice. Yes, blonde brows are the hardest to color-match but they’d also benefit the most from said products. Which is why I was so excited to stumble upon Maybelline’s Brow Drama Mascara in blonde. And no, they’re not sponsoring this post—but I had to share the affordable find with anyone else who might be hunting. While no product is perfect for everyone, I have naturally dark blonde hair with matching eyebrows and this soft brown tint is the most natural I’ve found. A little goes a long way, so you’ll want to clean off the excess from the brush and lightly sweep it over your brows until you reach the level of darkness you desire. The extra cool thing about a gel versus a pencil or powder is that it actually sculpts the hairs and keeps them in place. Now, if you have extra blonde brows, I recommend skipping this altogether and purchasing a clear mascara at your local drugstore, like this or this. I honestly have no idea who uses this “mascara” on their lashes—what. is. the. point.—but before my Maybelline discovery, it was my go-to brow makeup. You can not only shape your eyebrows but darken them just slightly in the same way wet hair is darker than dry. It’s subtle but impactful and makes it easy to conform rebellious strays. Give it a go! May the odds be ever in your favor.

Nikon’s launch of the 105mm f/1.4 lens is timed to commemorate a particular achievement for the company, 100 million Nikkor lens units produced worldwide. The new AF-S Nikkor 105mm f/1.4E ED is a fast, full-frame (FX-format), medium-telephoto prime lens. It’s also the world’s first to combine the 105mm focal length and the large f/1.4 aperture. This new Nikkor lens from Nikon is designed for professional and advanced enthusiast photographers, and suited for portraiture, “from in-studio fashion to a golden hour engagement session on the beach,” as Nikon USA put it in today’s announcement.

According to the patent, the 300-500mm measures 12.9 inches—3 inches longer than the 300mm f/4 pictured above that currently sells for $2,500. The Olympus patent filing also includes a 200-300mm (400-600mm 35mm equivalent) that’s about 9 inches in length. As we mentioned in yesterday’s story about Canon’s patent for a full-frame EF 40800mm f/4.5-5.6 zoom, many patents never result in products available to the consumer. Hence, it is not surprising why we tend to let ourselves off the hook sometimes when it comes to our diet. Sure, we love to work out, go to the gym, tell ourselves that we are leading a healthy lifestyle – but are we really? Let us start by examining how we eat. There is a good statement that most of us would love to hear from our dietitians at any given day: “it’s okay to eat or drink anything as long as it’s done in moderation”. But, what in the world does “eating in moderation” means really?

Eating In Moderation Allow us to examine this term a little bit closer and share with you what it truly means. According to dietitians the problem lies with the term because it is being used as an excuse to eating whatever whenever, not to mention that some parents might be thinking of it as an excuse to develop unhealthy eating habits with their kids. So here’s the deal. Eating in moderation actually means that you can eat any treat (yes, ANY treat: chocolates, cookies, cake, etc.), as long as it only makes up ten to twenty percent of your daily calorie intake. For instance, you need 2500 calories a day, then that would give you the license to eat 250 to 500 calories’ worth of cookies, chocolate, and cake every day without feeling guilty – because you are actually eating “in moderation”, strictly speaking. And that my friends, come straight from the nutritionists themselves. You can count on that. No more cheating!
