Two of the most important holidays on the island of Jamaica are Easter and Christmas. Holidays in Jamaica and the U.S. are similar and different. Where ever you go in the world holidays are celebrated, including Jamaica.
Easter is one of the most celebrated holidays in Jamaica. Easter weekend is spent with family relaxing. The people celebrate Easter by going to church and thinking about what Jesus did for us. Easter bun and cheese are a tradition for Jamaicans at Easter. School kids get an Easter break of about two weeks! Easter in Jamaica is celebrated with church, vacation, and great food.
The Christmas holiday in Jamaica is filled with music, food, decorations, and family. Christmas music is all the popular carols but done reggae style. The Christmas food is delicious with goat, pork, ox tail, and rice. Decorations for Christmas are elaborate with lights and ornaments. Celebrating Christmas with family is the best part of the holiday.
Holidays in Jamaica are celebrated much like in the U.S. In both countries there is a religious part to the holidays. Easter in Jamaica and the U.S. honor Good Friday and Easter Monday. Christmas in Jamaica and the U.S. is a time for giving gifts, eating, and being with family. There are lots of traditions celebrated in both countries.

JAMAICA SPORTS Have you ever thought about what other countries play for sports? If not let me tell you a little about what Jamaica plays for sports. They played Cricket, Push Cart, Football, and more. After school most kids went to an open field and played sports that they liked. They would also play at school when it was time for recess.

All the sports in Jamaica were fun to play! Mainly the kids played 9 out of a total of 10 sports. The main one the kids did not play was Push Cart. The main reason the kids did not play Push Cart was that it was way too dangerous. Most of the time their parents did not let them play it.

Out of all the games they played in Jamaica Push Cart was least played because it was not as fun as all the other games there was to play. The most popular game out of all the games was Cricket. All ages played Cricket from 5-75. Everybody loved to play Cricket because it was so much fun. It took a lot of strategy to play cricket.

You might ask yourself what the adults played for a sport. Well they also played Cricket but most of the time they played Push Cart. The main time they played Push Cart was at night when it was getting dark outside. They played at night because it was more fun to play in the dark. They would try and crash other people into other people’s carts.
