Editor-In-Chief Symmone Gordon

Welcome to the third edition of Believe Magazine! I cannot believe how quickly time has passed. In this issue, not only do we have amazing women sharing their life stories with us, but we are also joined by an extraordinary scientist, Dr. Bruce Lipton. Bruce speaks about the new science of epigenetics. It reveals that the environment, and more importantly, our perceptions of the environment, control genetic activity. Simply, epigenetics reveals we are “masters” of our genes and not victims of our heredity. We have the ability to heal ourselves. It’s a fantastic read. Gracing the front cover is Rhonda Byrne. Perhaps not as recognisable as Gabrielle Bernstein or Deepak Chopra, but you will undoubtedly know her documentary – The Secret. A timely film and world-wide hit, which shows us what’s possible when we address and focus our thoughts. Rhonda talks about how she found her purpose when she read The Science of getting Rich from her daughter. “Something inside of me had to turn the pages one by one and I can still remember my tears hitting the pages as I was reading it. It gave me a

glimpse of The Secret and it was like a flame inside my heart,” shared Rhonda. Sue stone, an author, facilitator and happiness coach is such a living embodiment of confidence. She’s gone from the lowest low point, no money, failing relationship and no job prospects to changing her life completely by changing how she thinks and feels about herself. In this issue, I would like to introduce an exceptionally talented healer and channel Lisa Morley Low. She has the lightest light touch and massive impact. Watch this space. We look at overcoming public speaking and how to step out of draining drama and if you want to read about self-development and spiritual matters, we have compiled a list of bloggers and authors as well as plenty more interesting articles for you to read. We loved putting it together for you and hope Believe can help you on your journey to inspire, educate and energise. Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to read Believe.

Rhonda Byrne:

Unlock The Secret

We have all heard the phrase “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” but Rhonda Byrne went further. After a long string of traumatic events in her personal and professional life, Byrne discovered a great secret…The Secret. And her mission is to share it with the world. Byrne was born in Australia, beginning her career as a producer at a radio station. She, then moved onto television production and, in 2006, her work went in a different

direction when she released a film called The Secret. After a successful reception, she followed the film with a book of the same name. Since its release in 2016, she has continued her work with the book The Power, The Magic, and The Hero, each strengthening the ignition of the original global movement she began which has changed millions of lives. But what is this secret she discovered?

The Secret: The Law of Attraction After receiving a copy of The Science of Getting Rich from her daughter, Bryne said, “Something inside of me had me turn the pages one by one, and I can still remember my tears hitting the pages as I was reading it. It gave me a glimpse of The Secret and it was like a flame inside my heart.” The Science of Getting Rich is a 1910 book, written by Wallace D. Wattles, based on the Hindu philosophy that One is All and All is One. It inspired Byrne to delve into an odyssey of research and investigation through thousands of years of almost every religion and field of human endeavor throughout history. What she came up with was a realization about the law of attraction. She reintroduced a notion that thinking about certain things will manifest them in one’s life. By highlighting the importance of gratitude and visualization, everyone can achieve their desires, goals, and create their ideal life in all aspects of life— prosperity, health, and relationships.

Using The Secret to Create Your Dream Life The concept that we create our own reality with our thoughts isn’t a new concept, but it is one that’s a little hard to swallow. It’s not easy to digest that every person, every thing, and every experience in your life is there because you brought it there, consciously or not.

However, using that same concept to create the life you desire is where the fun begins. What you think about, visualize, and desire become your reality under the law of attraction. Whether you focus on great things you wish to achieve or the things you fear, your thoughts attract people, circumstances, and events into your life that reflect those thoughts. Critics of The Secret and the law of attraction claim wishful thinking can be harmful, because thoughts alone, in theory, can’t manifest reality. And to an extent that is true. Thinking of a green tiger in front of you doesn’t mean one will instantly appear—the law of attraction isn’t a concept of magic. Instead, the law of attraction insists on the notion that positivity attracts positivity. Changing your thoughts can open your mind and allow you to collect relationships and experiences that help you achieve your goals. The Secret explains three steps to manifesting your dream life, but how do you actually put them into effect on a daily basis?

09

believemagazine.online

Ask To begin achieving great results, one must clear the mind. Find a place in your home to designate as an intention space—it can be a corner of a room or a spot on the couch that makes you feel comfortable. Surround yourself with things that make you feel peaceful—like plants, blankets, windows, etc. Then sit quietly and meditate for 5-10 minutes, breathing and slipping into a relaxing state. Before you can get what you want, you need to decide exactly what it is that you do strive for. Be clear and dream big. Focus on your desires and goals.

Believe Have you ever heard the saying “if you can dream it, you can achieve it?” There just may be something to that. Visualize what you want—your dream house, your soulmate, your healthy body. Visualize it and believe it’s yours. Feel it, smell it, hear it, taste it. You’ve cleared your mind, decided what you wanted, and visualized those things. Now, release control and allow your request to go out into the universe.

And finally ask for it. Write down the specifics of what you want, say it out loud, or say it to yourself. The key is to speak in the present tense as if you’ve already gotten your wish. For example, instead of focusing on the negative and saying “I want to get out of debt,” say, “I’m living an abundant and wealthy life.” By shifting your focus from the negative (debt) to the positive (abundance), the Universe will focus on the same.

Receive As The Secret film describes, there’s no guaranteed timeline for these types of things. Don’t give up. Keep believing and sending out positive thoughts and feelings; the key is to keep doubt and negative feelings at bay while you wait. But eventually you will receive your gifts, and when you do, invite them in graciously. Enjoy them. And remember to send out gratitude and love.

Bruce Lipton: You Are Master Of Your Own Destiny “We are the drivers of our own biology, not victims of the genetic roll of the dice.

As a population, we have long been led to believe that we are, sadly, at the mercy of our genetics. We are born with predetermined genes that result in predetermined risk factors or conditions. This is known as genetic determinism.

11

believemagazine.online

the environment by the skin. These cells therefore do not have the ability to directly respond to outside influences but are instead reliant on feedback from the nervous system. The catch is, this feedback is subjective, and no two people will respond (and therefore their bodies respond) in the same way to the same environmental stimulus – it is all about perception. “The chemistry of the blood, which in turn controls the genetics of our cells, is controlled by the nervous system. The specific nature of the blood’s chemistry directly controls the activity of our genes, that chemistry is derived from the images in our mind,” Dr Lipton explains.

However, what if we actually have much more power to change our physical being than we think? The study of epigenetics has turned the notion of genetic determinism upside down and instead granted each individual the control to move from victim to master of their own destiny, simply by changing their way of thinking. Dr Bruce Lipton has been conducting ground-breaking research in the area of epigenetics since 1967, when he discovered that the fate of genetically identical stem cells in tissue culture was controlled, not by their genes, but by the chemistry of the culture medium (or laboratory ‘blood’). What he found, was than humans have the ability to change their genetics simply through unlocking the positive influence of the subconscious mind. Ultimately, the human body is a mass collection of cells which are protected from

“For example, when you see someone you love, the brain translates that perception by releasing hormones such as dopamine (pleasure), vasopressin (enhances attractiveness),oxytocin (bonding), and growth hormone (enhances vitality). When these hormones are added to the culture medium of stem cells, their growth is greatly enhanced.”

In contrast, if you see something that scares you, the brain releases cortisol and norepinephrine (stress hormones) and inhibitory cytokines (hormones that suppress the immune system). When stress related chemistry is added to tissue culture medium, the cells begin to get ‘sick’ and die. Simply, when we change the perceptions that shape our lives, we also change the behaviour and genetics of our cells.”

In order to understand how we can put this incredible finding into our own realities, it is useful to understand how the mind works. Everyone is, in fact, ‘in two minds’; that is the conscious (our individuality and ‘spirit’) and the subconscious (the programmed ‘autopilot’ running in the background). Neuroscience has demonstrated that subconscious programs control 95 per cent of our life experiences, but of that 95 per cent, approximately 70 per cent are disempowering, self-sabotaging, and limiting behaviours. This explains why so many people struggle with making changes to their life, moving forward on important projects or feeling fulfilled. Without even knowing it, we are holding ourselves back from being the best versions of ourselves and even limiting our genetic potential. Essentially, those things that come easily to us are supported by subconscious programming, while those things we work hard for are consequences of our own limitations which we are rarely aware of. “The reason why our disempowering behaviours are not observed by ourselves, is that we spend 95 per cent of our lives in thought, a process that redirects conscious awareness inwards, into the mind. While in thought and not consciously observing our outer world, our behaviour is controlled by the subconscious mind acting as an ‘autopilot’ in managing our behaviour. Science has recognised the power of thought in the fact that less than 1 percent of disease is due to genetics, that environment and lifestyle are responsible for the healthcare crisis that is currently affecting the planet,” explained Dr Lipton. So, how do we change these subconscious patterns and reprogram the self-limiting beliefs that invade our minds and keep us pinned in place? The most effective method is to reprogram the subconscious mind and

download new patterns that better serve your wants and desires. It is important to remember as you embark on your own journey into the subconscious, that this aspect of the mind operates in the present moment. Throughout your reprogramming efforts, tell your brain who or what you are, not what you want to be. The reason is straightforward: “The function of the mind is to create coherence between your beliefs and your reality. For example, if the programmed new belief is ‘I WILL be healthy’, come back in a year and replay the program … it will always project a healing into the future. If you program ‘I am healthy’ and you’re not, the mind’s job is to ensure you become healthy by creating coherence between the belief and your current state of health.” Dr Lipton has outlined four ways we can change our internal programs:

1. Hypnosis This is the process that the theta brain state created in the first seven years of life. Every night as we go to sleep, the moment the brain’s EEG vibration shut down the higher vibrations by which our conscious mind works (alpha and beta EEG), the subconscious mind is still operating in the lower theta vibration. By wearing earphones to bed and playing a “self-help” program on the CD player or computer, the program’s information is by-passing the sleeping conscious mind and is automatically being downloaded as a new program into the subconscious. This process is referred to as self-hypnosis.

13

believemagazine.online

2. Repetition / Habituation The primary way we acquire subconscious programs (after age 7), is through repetition and the creation of ‘habits’. Habits are acquired by repeating or practicing something over and over again. I appreciate the humor in the new-agey phrase, ‘fake it till you make it.’ For example, if your life is not filled with happiness, then consciously repeating the phrase ‘I am happy’ as many times as possible every day, will result in the subconscious downloading that repeated phrase as a programmed habit. Afterwards, the mind’s job is to create coherence between that new program and the character of your life. There will be a day that you will wake up and go through that day being happy without even thinking about it. It will become an automatic, subconscious behavior … for the rest of your life, without even having to work at it again.

3. Energy Psychology (aka super learning) At the present moment, the world is facing the 6th mass extinction of life which science has recognised is the result of human behavior. To survive into the future, Nature is telling us to change behavior on a global scale. As an expression of the phrase ‘necessity is the mother of invention’, there is an amazing new field of belief modification referred to as energy psychology. Reflected in a wide range of modalities (for a list, see Resources at www.brucelipton.com), energy psychology provides an opportunity to engage the brain’s super-learning processes, allowing new programs to be adopted within minutes, rather than the days required for self-hypnosis or habituation processes to be downloaded.

4. Mindfulness Stop thinking and stay present with your conscious mind. In spite of the struggles they may have in life, when a person first falls in love and experiences the Heaven-on-Earth honeymoon effect, science has revealed that this experience is due to being ‘mindful’, being in a state where the creative conscious mind does not default control to the negative behaviors of the subconscious mind. If we can bring a little of this into our daily lives, we can learn to break negative patterns and create more positivity in our day. In closing, Dr Lipton firmly believes that knowledge is power. If we can better understand how and why we love through our lives the way we do, we are better equipped to make positive changes and forgo the victim mentality conceived by the genetic roll of the dice.

“Our fate is not determined by the genes we inherited, it is directly linked to the beliefs we acquire in our life. Change your belief and you change gene activity.”

Self-Confidence Will

Change Your Life

Confidence. A word bandied around a lot, but many of us still don’t have enough of it. Unfortunately, a lack of confidence affects our life negatively and holds us back from achieving the things we dream of. Sue Stone knows all about how mindset work in this area can lead to change. Sue brought herself back from rock bottom; she was in debt, dealing with a marriage breakdown and trying to raise three young children on no income. Sue turned her life around and today is personally and professionally fulfilled, and financially secure. Believe reached out to Sue for advice on how other women can follow suit.

with Sue Stone BELIEVE: In your coaching work, do you notice common reasons for low confidence in women?

SUE: Reasons for low self-confidence can start from a young age, such as bullying and being put down by parents, teachers and school mates. As we get older peers and partners can impose their own limiting beliefs on what we can and can’t do, and if we hear it enough, often we start to believe it! Divorce or children flying the nest can destabilise even the most confident woman for a while, too. This can cause women to potentially lose their sense of purpose and direction.

15

k yourself to tur BELIEVE: You hawd todoebac s increasing personal n

your life around. Ho p? and professional confidence hel

SUE: What you think, feel and believe is hugely powerful in creating your experiences in life and your perception of reality. “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right!” This well-known quote from Henry Ford says it all. It’s important to change one’s focus on what isn’t working to what is, what you have to be grateful for, rather than what you feel you are lacking. As you start to think differently, you act differently and you get different results in life. Growing in confidence and self-worth hugely impacts what you attract into your life at every level. A positive, confident (not arrogant) woman will give off great vibes, whether it be consciously or unconsciously, and will naturally command more respect personally and professionally. She can stand up for herself in a fair and consistent manner, rather than going unheard, or being unfairly treated. She’ll be prepared to come out of her comfort zone, say yes to new opportunities, and not be paralysed by fear. A confident woman will be ‘deaf’ to people who project their own insecurities when they tell her it’s impossible to achieve her dreams, be it personally or professionally.

believemagazine.online

five quick thing BELIEVE: What are n the next 30 days to s

women can do withi boost their confidence?

SUE: 1. In the morning, look in the mirror and say to yourself slowly and with positive emotion, “Every day in every way I am growing in confidence and I love you!” It will probably feel strange to begin with, as we’re taught not to love ourselves, however self-love and acceptance is the key. Say it enough and you will fire and wire different neurons in your brain and start to believe it; your actions and results in life will reflect this new belief.

2. Stand up straight, shoulders back and punch the sky with success...for no other reason than you are alive! 3. Wear perfume or scent daily and your favourite clothes. Don’t keep things ‘just for best’. 4. Every day take one small action step out of your comfort zone and watch how your confidence grows. Day by day, inch by inch, it becomes a cinch! 5. Take time out in nature to exercise. Even a

gentle stroll is beneficial. Notice the amazing abundance of all the natural things we take for granted, like the air we breathe. Even five minutes a day is documented to boost self-esteem and confidence.

16

believemagazine.online

BELIEVE: What kind of support do you advise women get to increase their confidence? SUE: I’m a great believer in personal empowerment and taking responsibility. It’s important not to blame ‘out there’ for how you feel. Once you become aware of the power of your own thoughts and beliefs and how it impacts your life, you can immediately take action. Neuroscience has proven that we are not hardwired. Start by ‘observing’ your thinking, identify any negative and self-limiting thoughts and beliefs that you have and start to change them. See it as old programming that is out of date. Our mind can be likened to a computer; it’s only as good as its software! I firmly believe that then, once you’re focused on personal growth and development, the right course or book will jump out at you. My book Love Life, Live Life: How to Have Happiness and Success Beyond Your Wildest Expectations can help women on their path for more confidence. Frustration, Stuckness and Depression

How To Transform From A Spiritual Perspective

Do you recall a time when you felt like this? In reality, we’ve all been there at some point and these feelings are a completely normal part of everyday life. If you have ever gone through a relationship break up, failed in business, been retrenched at work or lost a loved one, you would have experienced feelings of loss, grief, sadness and a perhaps a sense of hopelessness. These are all normal emotions - an experience typically triggered by the event that has occurred in your life. Whilst you are in the moment, these feelings might feel never ending and overwhelming. Again, this is perfectly normal. It doesn’t help that in our Western culture, feeling bad is something that we are taught not to dwell on. Grief is often shied away from and our busy lifestyles dictate to us that our suffering shouldn’t be prolonged, that we should get on with it, pick ourselves up and get on with life. This Western attitude of suppressing negative emotions and “getting on with things” is not a healthy one. Disappointment, sadness, frustration and grief are all standard human emotions that need to be accepted and dealt with - not ignored or brushed over.

At some point in our lives, we will experience feelings of frustration, depression and the sense of feeling stuck.

18

believemagazine.online

By allowing yourself to emotionally suffer and to accept that you may have negative or dark feelings can lead to transformation and growth through awareness. By acknowledging and accepting your feelings, you are giving them context in your life within the current phase that you are experiencing. And, it is a phase, a chapter in your life, a path, a passage and it is leading somewhere. By not accepting negative feelings, you are stopping your emotional self from growing and accepting the direction that your life has taken. Telling yourself you tried so hard and deserve better, you should have done more or listened to the signs, is the judgemental mind-machine working overtime to resist what has occurred. In fact, acceptance is what is needed at this time. The emotional body, like the physical one, needs time to heal and denying this by trying to get back in the race with a broken leg, just won’t work. By believing there is a fix, distracting ourselves when we are unhappy or finding something we think we need to avoid

the pain only sets up resistance and bypasses the opportunity to learn, experience and evolve. If we do this, then we contract rather than expand. So, if you are in a period of stuckness, frustration or depression, begin the change by just accepting where you are now. Give yourself emotional permission to feel. Witness what you are feeling, whether it rises up in waves or seems to be bogged in stagnancy. The very act of observing will help you to disentangle yourself from your feelings and will help you to define your identity. Know that these feelings will pass - your past is proof of that. Haven’t all your previous emotional experiences shifted? Just like an elevator - different emotions, different days, different floors. Allowing yourself to feel and to observe can allow for a different perspective and room for questions. Self-inquiry, almost like you are interviewing yourself, to maintain some healthy objectivity, is a good practice to undertake to allow yourself to look at the situation from different angles.

Ask yourself relatable questions that might help you to work through your feelings objectively: Do I really not know what I’m talking about? Am I experiencing buried pain from the past through this experience? Is my partner in pain about this topic and lashing out? Why do I continue to attract these kinds of relationships in my life? Do I think of myself as inadequate deep down?

19

Accepting that negative feelings is a normal human reaction to challenging life-events is your first step to dealing with these feelings. This does not mean it is easy or fun, but it is an opportunity for self-growth and emotional maturity. Here are a few ways that you can navigate through your emotional rollercoaster and lead you towards self-development:

Meditate: This is a wonderful way to settle your mind. Meditation allows you to cultivate stillness and relief without resistance.

Journaling: Writing your feelings down is a highly effective way to get words out of your head and release them.

Talk to someone who can be empathetic: Speaking with someone who can offer a clear perspective without getting caught up in your pain can offer you huge relief and will help to lift up your vibration through their grounded presence.

believemagazine.online

Ask for guidance: Open up your mind and your heart to guidance and you will find that your own intuition, or people, will show up to answer you. Pose questions – what is the meaning of this pain and what is it teaching me? Listen with openness and gratitude.

Frustrations, stuckness and depression is not a fun process, but it is one that everyone experiences at some point in their lives. It is what you do with the process and how you learn from it that defines your future journey. Don’t shy away from negative emotions – life cannot be all sunshine and rainbows. Negative experiences and emotions are necessary for self-growth, so accept them, embrace them and learn from them. It is important to note that although negative emotions are normal when frustration, stuckness or depression draws out over longer periods of time, it can become damaging to one’s mental wellbeing and is imperative that professional help is sought.

The As human beings, we all strive, in our own small ways, to become better versions of ourselves. We can aim to eat better, exercise more and control our vices, but we also know there is much more to our growth than the physical body. Lisa Morley Low is a Melbourne based musician-turned healer with a unique and fascinating journey to share. She has spent over a decade moving through her own soulful journey as she weaved her way along the ascension process to arrive at an (ever-evolving) level of conscious evolution. Her state of being is determined by light, love and a remarkable openness to connection, and she encourages everyone to open their own hearts and minds to this new way of being and jointly celebrate the abundance it brings. “Conscious evolution is the choice to shift your consciousness and wake up to the fundamental truth of who you are. It is a transcended state of knowing and a feeling of being connected as one with all living things,” she said.

Healing Power

Of Light, Love And Infinite Abundance

22

believemagazine.online

This incredible phenomenon is possible for everyone, no matter your background, inspiration or prior spiritual journey.

“As our conscious awareness and physical bodies are able to hold more light, love and infinite abundance, we become a free and sovereign being, for we have now reached the next stage in conscious evolution: As above, So below, On Earth as it is in Heaven.” Although a lifetime of experiences has shaped Lisa’s journey, 2013 marked an important point in her upward trajectory when she was diagnosed with bowel cancer. “It was the tipping point, and spark that ignited within me a truth that I had been trying to ignore and set me forth on a journey of self-discovery and healing.” From here, Lisa was drawn to New York, where she visited in 2016 and experienced a new level of divine love and evolution of consciousness. It was in New York she became aligned with a new healin code, which later lead to her ability to heal with the frequency and abundance of infinity. “The frequency of infinity is a powerful new healing code. When you are in the vicinity of this energetic frequency, your vibration will begin to align with the harmonic resonance of infinity to become a perfect harmonic match. When you are vibrating at the same frequency then you triangulating all three aspects of who

you are into one unified heart space. In this state of consciousness you are returning to your natural state of purity which has the potential to restore imbalances of the mind, body and soul.” This incredible phenomenon is possible for everyone, no matter your background, inspiration or prior spiritual journey. We all have it within ourselves to experience this same level of conscious evolution and transcended state of knowing and connectedness to all living things and heal on every level of being. Lisa insists that conscious evolution is not just for the spiritually inclined, but anyone and everyone who is willing and committed to believe and become empowered and inspired by unconditional love. When it comes to beginning your own healing journey, the first is to be open to change in every aspect of who you are. Like for Lisa, the impetus can come from a wake-up call such as a diagnosis of illness or disease, or you may have an intuitive ‘knowing’ that something is missing in your life. Whatever the impetus for change to spark your own personal journey of discovery, Lisa urges you to keep the faith and trust the process. There will be hard times when you don’t see progress, but believe this is ok and never give up.

23

believemagazine.online

Lisa now shares her wisdom and skills as a healer to help others to fast-track their own soulful, evolutionary and healing journey. With her husband Richard by her side, Lisa is dedicated to guiding others towards a happier, healthier and more abundant life through the frequency of infinity. “Being of service is fundamental and a core value to my soulful mission, for my vocation is to now heal people through this unique vibration. It is in this state of consciousness that we have re-tuned to that which is all-knowing, all-loving.” Through her own journey of conscious evolution, Lisa has developed a beautiful, positive view of the world and encourages us all to open our hearts and minds to the possibilities abundant. If we can all free our minds just a little, there is great hope for humanity as a whole and a bright future ahead.

“We are at the forefront of great change, for a monumental shift is taking place within our consciousness. No longer are we being consumed by suffering and despair, but we are awakening to our true soulful nature and returning to our natural state of Oneness.

“Whatever the case may be, know that you are on the right path for YOU! As long as you keep moving forward and don’t get bogged down in the depths of your own despair, you will begin to see incredible results…You are awakening to the concept of returning to your natural state of being, so go easy on yourself! You are amazing and a blessing to the world!”

“It is time for all those individuals who have been ascending 'inside the spiritual closet' to come out and be loud and proud. It is time to be ready to embark on the journey of a lifetime, knowing that you are here to be of service and to assist others to see with eyes of love.” For more on Lisa and her journey, visit lisamorleylow.com

Have you ever had the experience of friends and family reciting the same woeful stories over and over like gospel at a pulpit - unable to get off the loop?

How To Step Out Of Draining Drama You are there again to listen, to give the same advice, to yet again console the wounded. The same tales told time and time again. The same weight being placed on your shoulders and leaving you so drained that you feel like you are dissolving into a puddle with no one left to mop you up?

It is an unenviable place to be when you are the person to whom others repeatedly project their drama onto. You cannot help anyone lift their mood or help them to see things differently. Yet you are suppose to be there time and time again listening to the same record playing over and over like it is stuck on repeat? The thoughts and emotions they are expressing repeatedly have a vibrational effect. This dramatic episode that they recount time and time again to you becomes their story and if you are not careful then you become part of their script. Your intuitive self knows that you don’t belong in this story and that you do not want to be part of their dramatic script and that is why these repeated conversations and interactions leave you feeling so heavy and drained. When people continue to recite the same complaint or problem over and over, all attention focuses on what isn’t working. This leaves no room for resolution, as the mind is left in a negative state with no room for positive, productive solutions or resolutions.

25 Your friends can only remain in this contracted state for so long before someone or something is sought out to create relief but this relief does not necessarily birth a realisation. Expressing the problem is also a means of releasing pent up thoughts and emotions, making the other the enemy or problem. Offering solutions or empathising may temporarily offer relief as attention and energy is donated to their plight. But at the end of the day it is not dealing with the root cause of their continuous and repeated drama – it offers only a brief solace – a Band Aid.

I’ll give you an example. A while ago I met a woman who was telling me that her co-workers were jealous of her and where out to get her by setting her up in the workplace for failure. She had created a story to justify why she wasn’t liked. The real issue, that was clear to me but not to her, was about her feeling rejected and alienated. She had not come to terms with her emotions and was using deflection to subconsciously hide behind her story of her co-workers being jealous of her and having a vendetta against her. Because she was unable to bring true awareness to her emotions she hid behind her story and that became her truth and the more entrenched she became in it the unhappier it made her. As an outsider looking in towards someone submersed in drama it can be apparent what the crux of the issue is. Whether they are willing to see it or not is whole other matter. Your awareness of the situation by seeing the root cause can serve to prevent you from trying to fix them or relieve their pain. It’s not your job to be the dump bucket, although making suggestions without attachment lightens you of responsibility and stops the energy leak. Anytime you are focused on them and you are present, they will benefit.

When you are practicing non-judgement and stillness, it’s your radiance, which will be received because you are hooked in with source. From this place wisdom flows through you to reach their essence of being, existing beyond the mind. You can help to create the experience of transformation through listening, being actively present and in non-judgemental ways as the dysfunction of the mind is activated. It creates the space for them to go deeper to access clarity. Through your presence, you are bringing them back to “now” and out of the past and into the present. Gentle questions with presence can be posed Why do you believe this is occurring? Has it happened before? How are you feeling? Be aware when they revert to describing the situation – reverting back to elements of the story, to avoid the feeling. If this fails to work, as it can take a little practice to be present without slipping into their state of drama or take on the responsibility to form solutions, then compassionately remove yourself to maintain your energy and vitality.

Overcoming Fear Of

Public Speaking

When I began doing this work, helping women uncover their limiting beliefs and accelerate into their purpose, the last thing I wanted to do was get in front of a group and speak, nor did I want speak on video. Working with individuals on a one on one basis was my go to, my safe place. I was avoiding stepping up and out for years. I was avoiding transitioning into a more exposed public platform even though deep from within, I knew I had to. In the world of online business, not to step out of my safety zone was digital suicide. My fantasy of speaking from behind a curtain, behind a veil and still having an impact simply wasn’t going to work.

So does your work need you to speak in front of an audience? Would it be advantageous to your business if you were able to create videos that will be immortalised on Facebook or YouTube? Do you need to step out of the shadows and into the spotlight but is something holding you back? The fear of speaking to a large audience is a very real one that is experienced by many. If you were anything like me the mere thought of speaking to big group of people would be enough to send you into a catatonic state? You would probably rather pull weeds or hang out with crying babies than standing in front a vast array of listeners delivering a message.

So, why is speaking one on one within your comfort zone, but doing the same thing to a larger audience is not?

For many of us communicating, teaching, mentoring, speaking with just one person at a time is simply as easy as having a conversation with a friend on a Sunday afternoon - it is a walk in the park. When it comes to delivering the same message in front of a group, however, something that was so simple becomes terrifying.

expectations, character and how to handle situations. It’s like sweeping the same floor over and over again but speaking to large audiences or on video is like using new brooms in different locations, with surfaces you have never come across. It’s uncomfortable to place yourself in front of many unfamiliar people.

Why is that? How can conveying the very same message create such different reactions in how you feel and more importantly, what can you do about it?

In this situation, you are full-frontal open and exposed. Rotten tomatoes you won’t receive, harsh criticism you may until you learn to accept this is part of life and focus your energy towards the people who appreciate what you are offering and how it changes their lives positivity.

If your business or work involves public speaking, video or live format, then telling stories and having your message heard by a large group of people is a must-do, not a maybe. So, why is speaking one on one within your comfort zone, but doing the same thing to a larger audience is not? The reality is, most of us are comfortable with someone we know. You are aware of their

So, how can you make the switch and become comfortable with delivering your message in a more public forum? Begin with baby steps.

Everest was not climbed in a day! Start acclimatising to group delivery in stages. Practice with a few friends in your lounge room. Video yourself and send it out to people you trust to give you honest feedback. Join a group like toastmasters to practice speaking amongst other people who are ooking to do the same thing. Get yourself used to the feeling of being watched and imagine love and kindness coming your way. Don’t allow yourself to anticipate negative comments. It’s amazing how we can receive so much positive feedback and then one negative comment can have us marching to the beat of its drum. Despite the vast array of positive feedback, more often than not, it is the minority negative comment that resonates and repeats itself in our mind. Don’t let it! Divert your energies on what was good about the experience, the benefits it provided to your audience and focus on what matters and who you are serving as a whole group and stop trying to serve, please or impress that one person who isn’t aligned to your message.

As you get more and more comfortable and confident, expand your audience slowly. The more you practice and the more experience you get, the easier it will be face a crowd front-on, without feeling overwhelmed. Remember that even the most experienced public presenters can feel a variety of feelings before any presentation or performance. This is normal and needs to be harnessed. So every time you do prepare to speak to a group, live or not, remember to be present to the emotion rising. Acknowledge and recognise the emotions that you are feeling. Is it fear? Excitement? Nervousness? Anxiety? Do not avoid your feelings. Stay with it, look at it, name it and allow it. This emotion will no longer prevent you from achieving your goal. It may accompany your talk or presentation and that is ok, but it will no longer interfere with it - as long as you don’t deny it.

What Effect Is Worry Having In Your World ?

It’s inevitable; we are wired to find something to worry about. Not because we want to fret over a situation or a person that we can’t control but because at some level we are already thinking about what hasn’t shown up or what is wrong, which inevitably leads to a lack of something and manifests itself as worry.

You get the picture.

So many of the clients I work with have such wonderful dreams that they are aspiring to fulfil, yet the most common block I come across and the consistent common denominator preventing them from achieving their dreams, is worry.

You have stopped at the roadblock and are idling there instead of finding the path around the obstacle in your way. Worry really is the absence of something you want and you are setting up future scenarios in the present moment for the lack of not having it. Let the worry go. Find the detour path around the roadblock.

Worry about enough money. Worry about enough time. Worry about family needs and their happiness. Worry about getting it right. Worry about getting it done.

Release these negative thoughts and you will find that the solution will drop in.

Worrying can be a huge roadblock to success, achievement and ultimately happiness. When you are worrying about something, you are preventing advancement, progress and development by focusing on what is in your way.

In other words, do not give any focus or energy to the thoughts creating the worry.

34

believemagazine.online

Why? Because space has been created for the answer when focus is removed from keeping the problem alive. By letting go of the worry you are building room for the solution. Don’t think or say what is contrary to what you want. Stop creating barriers and obstacles – clear the way and make room for solutions. Here’s an example. You have hired someone to help you with growing your business, it doesn’t work out and you need to hire again. The worry thoughts enter. What if I cannot find the right team member? The last person I employed wasn’t a cultural fit – I got it wrong. I was overwhelmed with having to correct her mistakes. She seemed really good on paper, but she let me down. I can’t trust my judgement. It took me so long to find someone who seemed a good fit after looking through hundreds of resumes. I wasted so much time training her up. These worries, these negative thoughts are all barriers to you finding a solution to your problems. These worries are handicapping you from moving forward and re employing someone. Now let’s examine what happens when you flip these worries around and focus on the positives not the problems. Now turn the thoughts into what was great about the experience to create more certainty and positive expectation. By doing this you will effectively nullify the worry by giving energy to a different outcome.

35

believemagazine.online

The worry thoughts exit leaving room for growth thoughts.

So, next time you are worried about something not happening, here are some practical steps:

“I know what I want as a result of actually experiencing what didn’t work. She wasn’t what I needed in the long term but she did set up systems I can use. There are good people out there to support me in my work. I can refine my needs by writing out a more detailed description of my ideal team member. I have a great working team now and it’s only a matter of time before I find another to fit in. I will delegate some on-boarding responsibilities to some of my team. I am going to find someone to join my team that will positively contribute.”

Accept the situation is neither good nor bad. It is what it is.

Write down the proactive steps that allow you to see what you have achieved, other past fruitful experiences and even previous worries from the past that haven’t materialised to highlight the futility of going down the worry rabbit hole.

Consciously decide to let the worry go and instead look at ways to navigate a positive path.

What does it come down to? Worry follows on from what you believe isn’t possible because it hasn’t shown up yet and your past experiences add fuel to the absence of its proof.

Worrying is a normal part of human nature and everyday life. But worry is also something that needs to be reigned in and controlled to ensure that it does not become a roadblock to future opportunities, pursuits and happiness. Release the worry and solutions and opportunities will follow.
