By Snow Creek Landscape Services The temperatures are slowly dropping, leaves are beginning to gather below the trees and days are noticeably becoming shorter - autumn is here! The crispness of this season is such a great time to celebrate the life cycle of our environment. What was planted in the spring and summer is coming to an end, which is why autumn is the season of the harvest, where we give gratitude to the growing season and it’s bounty. Remember, don’t think of autumn as just the end of summer - it’s actually the start of next year’s growing season! Follow the tips below to make sure your yard is healthy and ready for Spring.

Assessment. Fall is a great time to really inspect your yard. This can be as simple as doing a walkthrough and creating notes on maintenance and enhancement projects that can be completed before spring. If you need, take pictures to remember how everything looked before you begin your fall maintenance checklist.

Adding colors and design: Mums are a popular addition to fall gardens, but you don’t have to compromise your creativity during Autumn. Black-eyed susans, pansies, dianthus and even sweaters out! Additionally, Asters are a great to have in your garden design as they tion. On top of natural color, the colder months are great for adding holiday lights and decorations, such as pumpkins, gourds, and wreaths.

What will not help your landscape is leaving giant piles of leaves around, which can ruin grass and create rot around the base of shrubs and trees.
