It is not only individual victims that feel the pain of identity fraud - the impact also affects the way in which government and industry provide products and services which has a flow on effect for the entire Australian community.

According to the facts released on identity fraud, 10% of ID fraud victims know the fraudster, 25% of ID is because of PIN compromise and 3% of ID instances result from stolen mail items such as bills and statements.

Mr. Grant suggests people can easily check their own credit history by going into Dunn & Bradstreet's website which is www.dnb.com.au or by phoning 132333 and asking for their customer service department. By paying a $25 fee to Dunn & Bradstreet people can receive within a couple of days their
