Catalog of Available Work 2016
Inspired by the Past, Painting for Today • Following in the footsteps of the great American painters before them, a group of young realist artists will travel to Paris, late summer of 2016. They will copy in museums, learn from curators and educators in the field, and paint together as they study pictorial composition and humanities, with the goal of reaching the next level of mastery in their work. • There is a need for this voyage. It has been noted that there is a lack of training for advanced group figure composition in American art schools and ateliers. The Paris Seminar is intended address this. The value of being in front of masterworks, examining their strokes, and taking notes on their successful compositions first hand is the utmost of importance for artists to observe how they put theory into practice. • Sean Forester, a classically trained artist who studied at Cambridge University and the Florence Academy of Art, will be leading seminars on composition. Along with his partner artist/writer Vanessa Rothe who will lecture on humanities as well as help organize the journey and the exhibitions.
• A dozen artists have been invited, sampling from schools such as the Florence Academy of Art, Grand Central Academy, California Institute of Art, Golden Gate Atelier, and Laguna College of Art and Design. Each artist has exhibited in museums and top fine art galleries throughout the US and abroad. • For the artists to raise the necessary funds, the Paris Seminar will be holding two fine art exhibitions, one at the Salmagundi Club in New York City, and the other at the Laguna College of Art and Design in Laguna Beach, in April 2016. (Details on the next page). At these events, The Paris Seminar artists offer their work, created especially for the exhibitions, for sale individually, and will present short informative lectures as well as exciting live painting demonstrations. •
A selection of fine art work is hereby offered in this catalog and on view at our two consecutive fine art exhibitions, to help raise the funds for the voyage. All works are available individually for the purpose of funding the Paris Seminar voyage….... With your help, we can make art history.
