Stingray Alert; Shuffle Your Feet! By Ed Bertha

1969 565ci Twin Turbo Corvette. A One-Off Show Winner From S&S Motorsports. 1200HP+ "Bomber Vette". 1969 565cid Twin-Turbo Corvette. Show-stopping, head-turning, one-of-akind extreme Corvette! Built exclusively to debut at SEMA 2008 in Las Vegas! Power Everything! Cold AC!!! Original Donor with Clear Title! Call for info.

The Stingray name returned to Corvette in 1969. The same year saw the introduction of the ultra rare, all aluminum, ZL-1 427 cubic inch engine (only 2 Corvettes were built with the ZL-1 motor). At the time Chevrolet’s ZL-1 was the most powerful engine ever offered in an American built automobile. A descendant of the legendary L-88 427 engine and the aluminum Can Am racing engine of the same era, it was factory rated at 430 HP. Actual output was more like 585 HP after the installation of tuned headers. Fast forward 42 years to 2012. You’re looking at a 1969 Corvette with an S/S Motorsports 565 cubic inch, hand built power plant, producing 1,200 HP. The Bomber Corvette was constructed as a statement piece, showcasing the ultimate in custom car fabrication by S/S Motorsports. Introduced at the 2008 Las Vegas’ SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show, the Bomber Corvette walked away with a top 10 award. How exotic is the Bomber Corvette? It could pass for a daily driver; running on pump gas and only requiring scheduled oil changes. Just like the vehicle in your garage, but much more fun! Completely custom built from the ground up, the only original component is the fiberglass body, and it’s not 100% original. The body sports flared wheel wells, a trick rear fascia and tastefully done rear lip spoiler. Black is a very hard color to hide mistakes and the bodywork on the Bomber is absolutely flawless; perfect in every sense. The car rides on a hand built molly tube frame. An absolute requirement as the 1,000 ft lbs of torque generated by the 565 big block would literally twist and tear the stock frame chassis from the car. Peering into the engine bay one finds an artistic display of polished chrome plumbing forcing air into the Gates twin turbo chargers. With no room under the hood for the turbo’s intercoolers, the S/S team put their know how to work. The Bomber features direct methanol injection into the intake plenum. Far superior to the hot forced air generated delivered by the intercoolers, the methanol injection drops the ambient air temperature increasing horsepower production. Running a very low boost the 565 could easily generate upwards of 2,000 HP. Slipping into the cockpit you find yourself luxuriously surrounded by leather, suede and carbon fiber; a huge departure from 1969. With an instrument panel resembling that of a jet aircraft, one easily finds the ignition. A turn of the key produces the heart pounding throb associated with a Chevrolet big block. The sound is very reminiscent of the late 36

|

|

sixties’ 427s, with one exception, the slight whine of the turbo chargers. With the choice of engaging the drive train via the Formula 1 paddle shifters or more conventional automatic shifter, the choice is easily made, F1. We’re off Bombing; making noise, turning heads and laughing. With a little over 3 years as S/S Motorsports signature piece, the S/S team is ready to make another statement. It’s a love hate relationship at S/S, but the Bomber must find a new home to make way for another stunning creation. What will the S/S Motorsports team dream up next? It’s anyone’s guess.

2016 Fashion Forward Forecast QUIRKY, FUN, AND CLEVER Happy New Year my REAL Style readers! “Out with the Old & in with the new.” It’s a new year and a perfect time to freshen up your wardrobe. What will the fashion designers this year have in store for all fashion lovers? Well … I’m excited to say 2016 has become an exciting and special fashion year. There are many new themes and innovative styles coming our way. Are you curious about the fashion collections of 2016? If so let’s take a sneak preview of the season’s collections, where casual elegance will rule. The good news is, while the year of 2015 was focused heavily on the ‘70s revival and came in with some huge new styles, slowly tapering into the ‘90s, this year holds no particular decade as inspiration on its own but does a mix with some very modern attractions. That means that everything you have from last year can be mixed and matched to suit the 2016 expectations with relative ease, bringing out your own creative attributes as you create your own personalized wardrobe. Take note, the trends are expected to be quirky, fun, and clever, bringing in the best of the best while still throwing us for a loop with some rather astonishing changes to how exactly we wear things. For example the top fashion trend that will really catch our attention in 2016 is the whole sleepwear worn as outerwear trend. Sleepwear as Outerwear! Yes that’s right, there are bedroom eyes following us around, as we are encouraged to take our white satin with black lace slips and wear them out, plunging necklines and high slits and all. Boxy Jackets will be a big spring thing, what with the cooler winds yet to give way to the summer breeze. They are light layers though and very much needed to ensure both style and warmth. The jacket trend for the upcoming seasons actually seems to take on a boxier silhouette, with cropped cuts and a sophisticated figure, roomy but with a proper fit for the body, perfect to go with the slack pants that are also a huge thing for the season. New Bold Power Suits, and bold is an understatement when it comes to the way

suits are looking these days, especially for the upcoming seasons. They are probably not meant for the conservative business environment, as they scream out loud and clear with their creativity, full prints and bright colors, but they sure make a statement no matter where you are standing. They are without a doubt, one of the most intriguing spring/ summer 2016 fashion trends to hit the runway. Get ready for Bared Shoulders. It is one of the biggest spring 2016 fashion trends and it is rocking our worlds! We love the bare shoulders, especially since our tans will be lacking those unnecessary lines that are caused with any other type of covering over the chest. Everything from daywear to wedding dresses will be sporting the bare shoulders as of spring and we can look forward to wearing out our favorite designer pieces, since nearly all had at least one or two to match the style. Asymmetrical necklines could be found as well, though those are not for the people who have the need for everything to be balanced, instead appealing for the more artistic minded. Peekaboo Black Pieces they are black as we can see and they allow us to see a whole lot more. The black is featured in nearly every collection, with sheer paneling, cutouts, lace aspects, spider web details and other ideals that reveal a bit more skin than we thought we might want. It is sexy, it is playful and it is certainly the furthest thing from boring. 70s Suede Continues On. We loved the suede last year, particularly for the fall and winter. Now, we see it playing peek-a-boo with us for the spring and summer, appearing from time to time in beautiful designs. Leather Keeps Its Spot on the Runway as well. Leather has been a big trend for a while now and seems to be going strong still, despite having wavered in designer popularity in comparison with the past seasons. You will see it appear often enough as a jacket, while still taking into account the high waist miniskirts, the gorgeous shoes and sandals, the zip up variations, and all.

12 | REAL EXCLUSIVE | GetRealExclusive.com

I’m excited about the Frills, Ruffles and More Ruffles in 2016. Ruffles are lovely. They make any piece looks positively feminine and utterly delicate, particularly when the ruffles are created from flimsy, swaying fabrics. Side Slits, We love seeing some thigh, especially on those long skirts and dresses as they begin to wrap around the legs. There is something infinitely gorgeous about the side slit, something that has continued on from the past seasons and looks to want to keep its place on the runway. You will also be happy about Maxi Dresses and Skirts in 2016. There are a whole lot of maxi dresses on the runway for the spring and summer and we love them very much, especially when they come in positively spectacular designs and colors. And get ready, they are Bringing Back the ‘90s. Nostalgia does much for fashion inspiration and while we have become used to seeing some of the ‘70s looks appear on the runways, it is always interesting to realize multiple decades have been modernized but yet still keep their distinctive flair. You will see everything from the rave culture to grunge and even a few fanny packs. Added Embellishments embroidery and embellishments will appear all over in 2016 and really do make the artistic looks even more attractive. There is a whole lot of minimalism involved but at times the designers went for maximum effect, ensuring we know of and clearly appreciate their craftsmanship. There are many trends in 2016 to behold, as there are some incredibly beautiful designs, cuts and silhouettes to choose from. As you can see there are also some rather unexpected pickings that seemed to have captured the imaginations of the creative artists from each Fashion House. At the end of the day, they must be good in predicting the upcoming favorites as well, which certainly helps us come to terms with wearing nightgowns in public… though that might take a while to get used to. Keep in mind the trends are expected to be quirky, fun, and clever. Becca Z. Towery Fashion Stylist/Image Consultant

New College Ranks 14th In Kiplinger’s Top 100 Public Colleges For the 13th consecutive year, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance has recognized New College of Florida as one of the nation’s best values in higher education. The magazine ranked New College 14th on its list of the 100 best values in public colleges for 2016. Kiplinger says its rankings “Highlight public schools, private universities and private liberal arts colleges that combine outstanding academics with affordable cost.” When a school appears on the list multiple times, it is a “Testament to the consistent value these colleges provide,” Kiplinger said.

Kiplinger derives 55 percent of a college’s grade from academic quality measures, such as graduation rate, freshman retention and incoming students’ test scores. The rest of the grade comes from cost criteria, such as cost, financial aid and student debt.

COMPRESSION THERAPY: A Natural Pain Management Alternative

C

ompression is the force of pressure used for reducing volume. Compression therapy

utilizes this concept through applying material to your body that has a specific gradient pressure to compensate for any impairment the circulatory or lymphatic system may have. Its purpose is to provide an appropriate force to influence fluid to return to these systems rather than remaining in the skin. Your blood pressure is a commonly known diagnostic tool that is an indicator of how much strength your heart and circulatory system have to move blood freely. When there is high blood pressure your body is at risk of causing too much fluid to be pressed out into the tissues resulting in swelling and pain. It can press on nerves causing impairment. If your blood pressure is too low, you may also the same results due to pressure of blood remaining in your arms or legs because it does not have the force to make it back to the heart in a timely manner. Circulatory problems are also a factor in the ability to lose weight. Compression therapy acts to counter balance the internal pressures along with other external pressures such as tissue elasticity, barometric pressure, and humidity. YES! The weather truly does have a significant effect on those of us who have chronic pain, circulatory problems or an autoimmune disease. When the barometric pressure drops, there is less force acting on your body from the external environment which may allow for your internal environment to exert more pressure. This is especially true for already weakened or damaged blood and lymph vessels. When the day is sunny and the barometric pressure is up, without humidity, you may find that those are the days that there is less pain, swelling and an improved ability to move without stiffness. Ahh…Balance. Pressure is not always thought of as a treatment for many symptoms or diseases. It is most widely recognized as a form of treatment after an injury or sprain. “Rest Ice Compression Elevation”.

It is also what is used to stop bleeding. You press the area to stop blood flow so it can begin to form a clot which will eventually close the area. Compression therapy is a natural alternative to medication for helping fluids flow from tissue to the circulatory and lymphatic system as it was meant to. Compression stockings are well known in the medical world yet so underutilized possibly due to the limited knowledge medical practitioners have regarding the lymphatic system and its therapeutic benefits. If you aren’t somehow involved closely with the medical world then compression stockings are “what Granny wears”! Trying quality compression garments, such as stockings, is usually a great way to start understanding the benefits that compression therapy can have for you. Wearing compression stockings improves blood flow in your legs. It supports the skin to maintain an even internal pressure to keep fluid, fat, or toxins moving in the right direction in order to go through the body’s removal process. Caution should be made in your choice of stocking brand as well as the level of compression and fabric it is made of. Generic brands tend to be less supportive, more elastic and poorly graded compression levels. If you have a current disease process going on, you should seek the advice of a qualified medical professional to determine your ability to wear compression stockings or garments safely.

Who can benefit from trying compression therapy? Anyone who is on their feet all day, sitting in a chair for long periods of time, if you have a feeling of heaviness in your legs regularly or if you already have swelling or other leg symptoms. Compression stockings are a good choice for you. There are also compression sleeves for the arms and hands. Swelling of the upper body is common with breast cancer as the lymph nodes that are meant to clear that arm could be damaged by the cancer, the treatment or surgery. People who have autoimmune disorders are at risk for all sorts of symptoms. That little gene that turns your body on itself can wreak havoc on your circulatory system making valves weak. It can attack your tendons and joints causing inflammation and swelling. Watch out thyroid! Here I come. No part of you is safe. What you can do is provide your body with the external support through compression so that the internal pressures can be reduced. Stockings for arms or legs help to keep our extremities from overloading and individual site bandaging can alleviate pain and swelling. For a consultation on how compression therapy can help you, call for a free review of how it can benefit you. Already know what your compression needs are? Place an order with me for your Juzo Stockings and sleeves. Compression, understand what it can do for your health.

THERMAGE

The Non-Surgical Facelift

Estetika Skin & Laser Specialists is proud to be the leading provider for the Thermage non-

surgical facelift and body lift in the Sarasota area! We are a 4x Thermage Black Diamond Award Winner for the exceptional results we have delivered to our Estetika patients. Thermage is a safe, painless, and cost effective FDA-approved non-invasive radiofrequency skin-tightening treatment that allows patients to see immediate results that get even better over time!

aging. As the elasticity becomes slack in this area, drooping, wrinkling, and the development of “hoods” make you look older. Thermage Eye is the perfect solution to a non-surgical eyelid lift that will make you look awake, rejuvenated, and more youthful. Thermage can treat the toughest areas of the body, as well. If you’re experiencing sagging in the arms, thighs, abdomen, buttock, and/ or breasts, Thermage Body could be the answer to your problems!

How does it work? Bring Back Your Youth with Thermage! Radiofrequency energy is delivered to all three layers of the skin to create controlled damage to the collagen fiber network to accelerate the body’s natural collagen building process. As we age, our skin loses elasticity and firmness due to sun exposure, smoke, exhaust, and many other environmental factors. As the elasticity becomes slack, our skin begins to sag and wrinkle. Thermage targets the collagen-producing layers in the skin to strengthen and restore the damage, creating tighter, smoother skin. The body’s natural collagen building cycle takes several months to reach its peak production, so your best results will be seen after 6 months and continue for up to 2 years or longer! How does it feel? Experience Total Relaxation While Shaving Off Years of Aging! Many patients that have received Thermage in the past might remember a less than pleasant experience, but Thermage has gone through a series of upgrades to give patients a comfortable and more effective treatment! The ThermaTip

located on the Thermage hand-piece delivers controlled dual heating and cooling to the skin. Most patients feel a brief deep-heat sensation as the RF waves are applied to the skin, this is when the existing collagen is being rejuvenated and new collagen growth begins. The ThermaTip then delivers a cooling affect with each pulse caused by Cryogen. This allows for a safe, painless and comfortable Thermage treatment! Is it only for the face? Get Rid of the Sag for Good! Thermage is an extremely versatile procedure and can be used to tighten skin in virtually any part of the face or body!

Estetika carries a variety of ThermaTips used for specific areas, even for the most delicate skin around the eyes. The thinnest skin on the body is located on the eyelids, making it an easy target for

70th Birthday Cruise R

ecently I had the opportunity to surprise my husband, Charlie, on his 70th birthday with an extended cruise on the SS Catherine (Saone River & Rhone River) & SS Antoinette (Rhine River). The trip was organized by Pat and Randy Lyon, Realtors at Berkshire Hathaway through their company, Cruise Planners. We had a group of 28 (14 couples) and it was truly amazing! I even visited with two clients in Amsterdam! If I can share one thing about River Cruises, it’s like being at the Ritz Carlton 24/7. I was very fortunate to have three agents watch over my business at Michael Saunders which enabled Charlie and I to be away for three (3) weeks, the longest vacation ever.

You too should consider a River Cruise, you deserve it! All aboard as we share our wonderful experience with you.

Dr. Sera Balderston:

t an instance, it becomes immediately obvious that Doctor Sera Balderston is driven by a passion for what she does. There’s an energy that emanates from her, an excitement that is palpable as she discusses her practice and the journey that has brought her to this moment. She is vibrant, engaging and incredibly well-versed in the principles of acupuncture, biochemistry and molecular biology. Her vast knowledge, paired with a desire to delve even deeper into the inner workings of the human body, have become the foundation upon which her career as a practitioner of acupuncture and Oriental medicine has thrived. Growing up, says Dr. Sera, there was always a drive toward medicine. “My father was diagnosed with cancer when I was six,” she explains. “Witnessing him waste away and being unable to help was my main motivator in becoming a physician.” After her father’s passing, Dr. Sera’s mother relocated the family to an intentional healing community in the Pocono Mountains. There, she was exposed to a myriad of alternative practices including Reiki, Qigong, Healing Touch, meditation and energy therapies. Taking classes when she wasn’t in school, Dr. Sera learned the power of intention and the miraculous abilities of the human body to recover and 26 | REAL EXCLUSIVE | GetRealExclusive.com

restore itself. It was, she recalls, “an intense education in the healing arts.” Guided by her mother’s interest in wellness and holistic medicine, Dr. Sera was raised to understand the importance of healthy, organic eating and herbal medicine. She notes, “My mother was firm in the idea that food and plants heal.” As a teenager, though, Dr. Sera was compelled to dig deeper, to understand the science behind the metaphysical, the tangible causes of miracles. “So I read everything I could get my hands on about quantum physics,” she recalls. “By studying that discipline, I learned that everything is truly connected.” She continued to pursue those connections as an undergraduate student at Pennsylvania State University, where she studied biochemistry and molecular biology. Her studies, shares Dr. Sera, allowed her to gain a deep scientific understanding of how the human body works. While she had long planned to continue her studies in medical school, Dr. Sera became acutely aware of the disconnect between healing medicine and the conventional practices of Allopathic (Western) medicine. So after graduating from Penn State in 2000, she opted to enter the corporate world. “I knew that I wanted to pursue a holistic field of medicine,” she says, “and I felt that it would be best to take time and explore my options.”

For seven years she worked with Dun and Bradstreet, establishing herself as a highly successful sales and marketing solutions specialist. And then she was called to revisit her true passion. In a serendipitous turn of events, Dr. Sera was given the opportunity to leave Pennsylvania and relocate to Florida. She arrived in Sarasota in 2008 and not long after had her first acupuncture treatment. The experience was life changing. “I gained clarity,” she says. “Things happen for a reason, and the time was right to pursue my interests.”

In a world ripe with environmental toxins, where the majority of the population may be suffering from undiagnosed ailments including vitamin deficiencies and chronic lethargy, the possibilities for healing and wellness are limitless. Here, says Dr. Sera, is where the ancient practices of Chinese medicine and acupuncture may make a significant difference. “Practitioners of Chinese medicine talk to their patients, really delve into their lives to understand their emotions, their stressors and their lifestyles,” she explains. 27 | REAL EXCLUSIVE | GetRealExclusive.com

therapy and Oriental medicine. Her clients often enhance their experiences with spa experiences including facials and massages. “It’s a great setting,” remarks Dr. Sera. “The atmosphere here is so relaxing and peaceful. My clients love that it’s not the traditional ‘doctor’s office’ ambiance.”

“Very often, this allows us to diagnose early in the disease.” By contrast, traditional Western medicine’s focus on addressing pressing symptoms is a system of treating health issues that have become too problematic to ignore. “I’m looking more deeply and holistically at the body,” says Dr. Sera, “where subtle symptoms can be addressed early.” While Chinese medicine and acupuncture still hold a sense of mystery and taboo for many westerners, Dr. Sera notes that they are scientificallygrounded practices that have existed for thousands of years. They are, she adds, far from archaic in their approach. “Ancient Chinese medicine has actually been quite enlightened and forwardthinking,” she says. “The practice of looking at the emotional body and utilizing food therapy is light years ahead of conventional Western medicine in many ways.” The importance of allopathic medicine can’t be minimized, adds Dr. Sera, who alludes to emergency care and the treatment of diseases including cancer. “But when it comes to preventative care and wellness, doesn’t it make sense to talk to someone who’s well-versed in food therapy and nutrition, and who understands how your emotions and environment are impacting your body? That’s the benefit of Chinese medicine.”

At the foundation of Chinese medicine is how the patient’s emotions, environment and lifestyle impact the flow of Qi (Chee) in the body. Dr. Sera has successfully integrated this traditional approach with cutting-edge research in biophysics including the existence of biophotons (emissions of light by living cells) and how they impact the body’s signaling systems (such as neurotransmitters, vascular flow, hormones, immune and inflammatory response, and stem cell distribution). “Similar to the traditional Chinese theories around Qi, new research has shown that blockages in the flow of biophotons can cause disease,” she explains. “And those blocks are often caused by poor diet, toxins, physical trauma and stress.” A combination of acupuncture and Chinese medicine may facilitate the body’s ability to restore the flow of Qi, thereby regulating its functions for improved health and vitality. Dr. Sera also integrates the latest in lab testing from standard bloodwork and urinalysis to a chemical test sent to Germany that can detect abnormal colon cells and gastrointestinal imbalances far sooner than a colonoscopy. Dr. Sera’s thriving practice is based at The Inner Circle Spa, where clients may opt for acupuncture treatments, vitamin injections, nutritional counseling, herbal

As the demand for Dr. Sera’s services continues to escalate, she is expanding her practice beyond traditional face-to-face appointments. With phone consultations she is able to hone in on the individual needs of patients, allowing them to seek treatment and advice from the comforts of their own homes. She’s also building an online practice, DrSera.com, which will allow users to utilize technology for one-on-one consultations, to research topics in holistic and Eastern medicine, and to purchase supplements designed to address their particular needs. “It’s a launching point,” Dr. Sera explains. “A place to begin to hone in on the issues that may be impacting people’s health.” Her passion for education has driven Dr. Sera to offer community outreach, where she speaks to a range of guests including business owners, doctors and consumers. Each week, she speaks to clients at Centerstone Addiction Recovery Center, and offers a variety of seminars at local venues including golf and country clubs and wellness clinics. Says Dr. Sera, “I want to reach people, to educate them on how to live and feel better.” With a wealth of practical and educational experience, she’s doing just that.

Just How Litigious Is The State Of Florida? One might look at the title of this article and see the question only as asking how many cases of a given type are filed in the State of Florida each year. While that is a valid interpretation, another might see it as asking about Florida’s overall environment for filing certain lawsuits and the price it pays for its legal system.

Why Buy A Home In Florida And Why Now? Here we are in the middle of winter and enjoying balmy weather with temperatures in the 70s. Need I say more?

W

hile our climate is a big attraction to those thinking about purchasing a home for retirement, or a vacation property, it may not be enough on its own to persuade home buyers to write a sizable check. Recent world events and volatility in the stock market have led many home buyers to pay more attention to the potential returns that their second home can provide. I thought it would be interesting to examine some of the factors that may persuade savvy investors to part with their money and make a real estate investment here in Florida. Florida’s population is growing rapidly. Our population now stands at 20 million, and we are the second fastest growing state after Texas. In 2015, 841 people moved to Florida every day. 2016 predictions set this number at more than 1,000 people per day. This creates a demand for homes, and high demand with limited supply usually leads to rising prices. Buy now and enjoy price appreciation in the future. Many of our new residents discover the beauty of Florida as tourists. During 2015 we set new records for the number of visitors to our state - in excess of 100 million people, and they keep coming! Whether drawn here by Mickey Mouse or the opportunity to sail and play golf in the winter, many of these tourists set their sight on making Florida their winter retreat or year round home, and they will fuel our population growth for years to come.

To support a larger population, we need to have infrastructure, industry and jobs to build wealth locally. Our unemployment rate is now in line with the national rate for unemployment after lagging behind for a few years. Florida’s financial stability will also be secured by continued investment in our ports to deal with increased traffic generated by the widening of the Panama Canal. Further development of the hi-tech corridor between Tampa and Orlando will also boost our local economy. Many of our new residents will be baby boomers. Newly retired and looking to create a new life in the sun. They may also be beneficiaries of what has come to be known as “the greatest transfer of wealth in human history”. Analysts estimate that up to $16 trillion will transfer from one generation to the next over the next 30 years. Some of that wealth will inevitably find its way into investment properties as well as homes to provide their owners with a certain lifestyle. Small adjustments to the interest rate have still left us with very low rates to encourage investment in real estate. Rising rents will encourage more investors to enter the market, as we can see by the large number of new rental apartments springing up in our area,

34 | REAL EXCLUSIVE | GetRealExclusive.com

but there is still room for the private landlord – Florida is home to some of the hottest rental markets in the country. Rising rents and availability of mortgages also encourage tenants to become homeowners. It is hard to dispute that Florida offers an attractive lifestyle to those who seek to make their home here, whether full or part time residents, but Florida is also drawing other kinds of investment that will continue to build the financial and economic strength of our state. Making this a great place to invest as well as to call HOME!

TAHITIAN MONOI OIL

For Hair And Body Multi-Purpose - Monoi oil is incredibly versatile. It is used as a moisturizing body oil, an after-sun oil, a skin protectant from the elements, a massage oil, a bath oil and even a deep conditioning oil for the hair. Luxurious and Transporting - Besides the benefits that monoi oil provides to the hair, it is also a luxurious body oil with a beautiful scent that transports you to the tropics and gives the skin a sexy, silky sheen.

What is Tahitian Monoi Oil? Tahitian monoi oil is a result of enfleurage, the art of extracting active or aromatic ingredients by gently macerating flowers in refined coconut oil. The 2,000 year old technique has been perfected through the ages for cosmetic and pharmacological purposes. Authentic Tahitian monoi oil is a natural beauty product based on two unique ingredients, Tiare Tahiti (Gardenia Tahitensis) and refined Polynesian Coconut oil (Cocos Nucifera). Monoi oil is stabilized with Vitamin E and fragrance is usually added to create a variety of different types of monoi oils. How do you use Tahitian Monoi Oil? For centuries, Polynesian women have used monoi oil as a pre-shampoo hair treatment. As a hair oil, monoi oil helps repair and deep condition the hair. Monoi oil is a luxurious, tropical bath oil or can be applied after a shower as a body moisturizer. Massage has a special importance in Tahitian culture, and monoi oil is always used as a massage oil. Monoi oil also makes a lovely, subtle perfume.

What makes Tahitian Monoi Oil the best skin and body care oil in the world? Rare and Exclusive - Tahitian monoi oil is a completely unique and exclusive product. It originated in Polynesia hundreds of years ago. True and authentic monoi oil only comes from French Polynesia. Scientifically Proven - It has been scientifically tested and proven to have emollient, soothing and purifying effects on the skin and provides long-lasting moisturization. Scientists claim that monoi’s benefits are comparable to or even superior to the effects of shea butter and jojoba oil on the skin. According to the Institut du Monoi, the Tiare flower’s composition is rich in terpenic alcohol and esters - which includes methyl salicylate - giving this beauty oil its wonderfully purifying and soothing properties. Safe - Monoi oil is extremely safe. It does not cause any skin reaction, and carries no risk of allergies. In fact, historically and even today, Tahitian woman will traditionally massage the babies daily with monoi oil in the morning and at night.

36 | REAL EXCLUSIVE | GetRealExclusive.com

How Do You Identify Authentic Tahitian Monoi Oil? Today, Tahitian monoi oil has become a sought-after beauty product the world over. So it is natural for many companies, big and small to want ‘Monoi’ in their lineup of products. However, many of these companies claim usage of the word “Monoi” in their product, when in fact the product is NOT monoi oil, does not contain monoi oil and in some cases doesn’t even contain coconut oil! Authentic Tahitian monoi oil follows a strict manufacturing code that oversees the entire process from handpicking the tiare flowers to storage and shipping of the final product. To be authentic, it must be made in TAHITI, not England, the United States, or somewhere in Asia, only Tahiti (also known as French Polynesia). The list of ingredients on the packaging must contain the terms “Cocos nucifera” and “Gardenia tahitensis”. The percentage of monoi oil used in the product formula must also be indicated on the label.
