1622 PEREGRINE POINT DRIVE The Landings
As a professional kitchen and bath designer for nearly thirty years I pride myself on seeing good bones of a house in its before stage. This is exactly what I saw in the Peregrine Point Drive house; which we proudly call home. The Landings neighborhood reminded us of Westlake Village and Brentwood, both suburbs of Los Angeles where we are from.
T
he decision to move to Sarasota was an easy one, beautiful accessible beaches, clear clean air, no clogged freeways AND homes that are; shall we say - offer much more value than in southern California. We loved The Landings vibe with its great flora and fauna, its uncrowded wide open areas, the individuality of custom homes, its laid back style and a great family neighborhood where people actually wave and say “hi”. It’s also a guard-gated community which we were accustomed to.
That being said, most homes were stuck in the 80’s and only a couple have been torn down or are being torn down and rebuilt from the ground up. To me that screams new life, new people, new community, in a great in-town neighborhood. Let’s face it, we’ve always heard location, location, location. The older neighborhoods in most cities have great locations but were built eons ago when the property was considered close-in. Such is true of The Landings. Folks that purchased the homes in the 80’s are now down-sizing as their children are grown and moved out which then enters new families and new remodels within this same great neighborhood. When I first saw the house I thought great California style wide ranch with great street potential and presence. Once I walked into it, I looked through the brightly colored red, blue, green, and yellow walls with sponge paint and awful wallpaper everywhere. What I also
saw was the potential to utilize its soaring ceilings, its great room sizes and its potential to be a mostly single level home. I’ve designed many ADA (American Disability Act) compliant bathrooms - but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I’d be designing one for myself. After we flew to Sarasota in September of 2013 to purchase the house I came to find out that my excruciating aching back was due to a spinal cord tumor and it was not just a pulled muscle. Fast forward to year end of 2013 when I had a successful surgery in L.A. and had to postpone our move to Sarasota by a year so I could adequately recover. So what does a kitchen and bath designer do during her recovery? She designs her own home with meticulous details and thorough plan to be able to easily walk from one end of the home to the other with no steps and shower with a wide easy access. That’s just what I did. I spent most of my time thoroughly engulfed in the design. I knew that I wanted to be able to walk from the garage through to the bedrooms easily; that meant removing a half wall and 2 steps between the living and dining room so I could navigate to the master bedroom. That meant borrowing a few feet from an adjacent bedroom to increase the space in the master bath to allow me a full access spa-like shower which no one would ever guess was for easy access. Even though there are steps into the family room, the width of the openings would allow for an easy ramp if necessary.

I had so much fun doing the design work seeing it to fruition was exciting. Of course like in any or most remodels there are hiccups, and we encountered them as well. Remodeling isn’t a fun process even for those of us who are professionals. What I was able to do was to accomplish the open, airy look I wanted by knocking down a front wall to see through to the lanai and new pool with the lush Florida landscape that I created for minimum maintenance. I ditched those bright Smurf colored walls for an even-tone neutral look which showed off the large crown moldings and gorgeous custom cabinetry. I chose to use local sources for most of my purchases. The appliances are from Mullet’s for the SubZero and Wolf, the new 3-zone air conditioners are from Wentzel’s, the pool was remodeled by Progressive Pools. I sourced locally and American made whenever I was able. The interior paint is a Benjamin Moore low VOC product also purchased local. The landscape and irrigation crew came recommended to me by a local Bradenton nursery. The cage company also local taught me a thing or three since we came from California where we don’t have pool cages. All things were new to me. We upgraded to the stainless steel screw package so they would not rust in the Florida climate. Many and much thought was given to the finishes and challenges of our new home. When all was said and done, I am pleased with what I accomplished and know that my vision on paper became my reality which I looked forward to while recovering.

aging. As the elasticity becomes slack in this area, drooping, wrinkling, and the development of “hoods” make you look older. Thermage Eye is the perfect solution to a non-surgical eyelid lift that will make you look awake, rejuvenated, and more youthful. Thermage can treat the toughest areas of the body, as well. If you’re experiencing sagging in the arms, thighs, abdomen, buttock, and/ or breasts, Thermage Body could be the answer to your problems!
How does it work? Bring Back Your Youth with Thermage! Radiofrequency energy is delivered to all three layers of the skin to create controlled damage to the collagen fiber network to accelerate the body’s natural collagen building process. As we age, our skin loses elasticity and firmness due to sun exposure, smoke, exhaust, and many other environmental factors. As the elasticity becomes slack, our skin begins to sag and wrinkle. Thermage targets the collagen-producing layers in the skin to strengthen and restore the damage, creating tighter, smoother skin. The body’s natural collagen building cycle takes several months to reach its peak production, so your best results will be seen after 6 months and continue for up to 2 years or longer! How does it feel? Experience Total Relaxation While Shaving Off Years of Aging! Many patients that have received Thermage in the past might remember a less than pleasant experience, but Thermage has gone through a series of upgrades to give patients a comfortable and more effective treatment! The ThermaTip
located on the Thermage hand-piece delivers controlled dual heating and cooling to the skin. Most patients feel a brief deep-heat sensation as the RF waves are applied to the skin, this is when the existing collagen is being rejuvenated and new collagen growth begins. The ThermaTip then delivers a cooling affect with each pulse caused by Cryogen. This allows for a safe, painless and comfortable Thermage treatment! Is it only for the face? Get Rid of the Sag for Good! Thermage is an extremely versatile procedure and can be used to tighten skin in virtually any part of the face or body!
Estetika carries a variety of ThermaTips used for specific areas, even for the most delicate skin around the eyes. The thinnest skin on the body is located on the eyelids, making it an easy target for

Required Procedures In FLORIDA For Dealing With Design And Construction Defects
T
he Florida Legislature has created a mandatory method to resolve construction disputes with idea that it would reduce the need for litigation as well as protect the rights of property owners. It requires that a property owner file a notice of claim with the contractor, subcontractor, supplier, or design professional that he or she asserts is responsible for design or construction defects. It provides the contractor, subcontractor, supplier, or design professional, and their insurers an opportunity to resolve the claim through confidential settlement negotiations without resort to further legal process. Only time will tell how well the procedure works. I offer a summary of the law in this article.
•
The contractor has the right to inspect the structure or improvement in question within five business days after service of the notice of claim.
•
The inspection may include “destructive testing” by mutual agreement.
•
Within 10 days of receiving notice of the claim, the contractor must forward a copy of it to any other person (i.e., subcontractor, supplier, or design professional) the contractor believes is responsible for the defect.
•
Those secondary recipients may also inspect the structure or improvement in the same manner within five business days after receipt of the notice and issue a written response to the contractor to either repair the defect or dispute the claim.
A property owner may not file a law suit pertaining to design or construction defects without complying with the statute. If such a suit is filed without first complying with the requirements of this chapter, the court is required, asked, to • Within 25 days of receiving the stay the action, without prejudice, and notice, the contractor must serve the action may not proceed until the a written response to the property property owner has complied with the owner. requirements. • That response must either • A property owner alleging 1. Include a written offer to repair a construction defect must the alleged defect at no cost to the provide the contractor (including property owner; subcontractors, suppliers, design professionals, and others) with 2. Include a written offer to compromise the claim by written notification describing that monetary payment within 30 defect(s) in “reasonable detail at least days; or the contractor offers to 60 days before filing a lawsuit (120 repair or compromise the claim by days before filing an action involving monetary payment, the property an association representing more owner has 15 days (or, in the case than 20 parcels).
of a condominium or homeowner association, 45 days) to accept or reject the offer. •
If the property owner accepts the offer and repair or payment is made, the property owner is thereafter barred from pursuing relief through litigation.
•
If the property owner rejects the offer, it must be done by written notice containing the text of the offer with the word “rejected” printed on it.
•
The property owner’s failure to reject an offer in strict accordance with this procedure constitutes an acceptance of the offer, whereas no such penalties exist for a contractor’s failure to comply with any of the procedures.
•
The statute requires that upon entering into a contract for the “sale, design, construction or remodeling of a dwelling” the con-tractor must provide the owner of a dwelling with notice of the dispute resolution procedure, using the form set out in the statute.
•
The statute does not create new rights, causes of action, or theories upon which liability may be based.
The scope of this article does not allow a more detailed description of the requirements. For that reason anyone who falls subject to the requirements is advised to seek legal counsel.

Experience the Difference ...
Dedicated to the movement of studio glass, Imagine Museum is the brainchild of benefactor Trish Duggan. Studio glass is a fairly recent movement in the scope of glass art as it was pioneered in the early 1960s. Artists wanted the ability to create glass in a personal studio rather than in a large factory. “What’s unique about this museum is that it’s just the 1960s up to now, and it’s just the American movement,” said Jane Buckman, the museum’s deputy director. “It’s fun to have a small focus because we get to delve into something truly American.”
The museum guides you through the history of the movement in America, showcasing developments by the movements superstars. There’s examples of blown glass, cast glass and flamework, some incredible works of art. “We really want this to be the glass coast,” said Buckman. “We have Duncan McClellan’s gallery, the Chihuly Collection, the new glass pavilion at the Ringling Museum, and now the Imagine Museum. And what really supports it are the glass collectors.” Imagine Museum is located at 1300 Central Avenue, St Petersburg, FL 33400.

Property Owners And The 2018 Legislative Session
S
o here we are half way through the 2018 legislative session and we are left wondering if anything is going to get done. Floridians are asking themselves what have the elected officials done to help property owners in our area. The answer is not as simple as one may think, you see the hundreds of bills that are filed are filled with special interest and “pork”. 2018 is an election year. Couple that with defect years because of the 2017 hurricanes and you come up with a conservative session. You see no one wants to rock the boat with controversial issues or bold initiatives. The most property owners can expect is a marginal cut on commercial rent tax and maybe a stipend for the housing trust funds. 2018 will be filled with special elections for local governments trying to push tax initiatives because of the “noise” that will be defining later this year. The cost of running a bill or issue during an election year has become too costly for many groups to compete. The constitutional review commission is meeting this year to determine what if any issues need to be passed without voters voice. While most of the initiatives pass without opposition some issues do draw fire. One such issue is Amendment 2 which places a cap on non-home stead properties. Most homeowner feel that a cap on non homestead property do not affect them but they could not be more wrong. Even though Floridians enjoy healthy tax breaks fee understand the impact that non residents and commercial owners have in their taxes. Amendment 2 is critical to a healthy tax base and ensuring that we remain healthy and a viable option to investors.
“Beautiful beach investments
There are is no known opposition to Amendment 2 and the supporters boast that “Everyone is for Amendment 2, because Amendment 2 is for everyone”. The delicate dance between party lines and the responsibility to the voters that have elected them will continue through session. The one thing we all must remember is that all politics are local and the voters voice is still important. With that being said we all enjoy the right to choose and that well informed citizens can make a difference. I encourage everyone to educate yourselves on the issues and the candidates. Choose the candidates that support private property rights and only elects those folks that move our communities forward! Sonny’s BBQ Catering Let’s Get This Party Started! original pulled pork recipe that brought fame and fortune to Sonny’s BBQ. One bite and we could see why! The Southwest Fish Taco is a mild white fish that’s marinated with a chipotle seasoning. A smoky ranch dressing over black beans and lettuce intensified the aromatic spices and tied all the flavors together in delicious unison.
T
he evening of Kim Burns’ birthday party saw cool weather that quickly warmed up when a convivial group of friends and family gathered at iHeart Media’s studio in Sarasota to celebrate another milestone in her journey of life, her love of food, and Southern-style cuisine catered by Sonny’s BBQ. Sonny’s BBQ was founded by Floyd “Sonny” Tillman in Gainesville, Florida, in 1968. Its humble beginnings as a local BBQ joint grew quickly, thanks in part to the passion that the company puts in respecting time-honored traditions in the art of slow smoking meat over oak wood. Oak is a hard wood that burns slowly and gives BBQ cuisine that inimitable smoky flavor that we have come to love. For lovers of seafood, guests feasted on Chipotle Shrimp Shooters that were beautifully presented in shot glasses. These chipotle-marinated shrimp shooters were served with Sonny’s BBQ cocktail sauce. The sensory experience of uniting sweet with a little spice and heat opened our minds to an exciting new world of bold flavors. It inspired us to journey further into exploring Southern style BBQ cuisine. The Nacho Tower table offered guests with a selection of two tacos. The Sweet Carolina Taco with pulled pork is seasoned with a mustard based barbeque sauce. Coleslaw was added to bring a balance in texture and flavor. This taco is based on the 24 | REAL EXCLUSIVE | GetRealExclusive.com
The Pulled Pork Stuffed Chicken contains Sonny’s BBQ’s signature pulled pork stuffed in a chicken breast and topped with Swiss cheese. Sonny’s BBQ’s Sweet Sauce adorned the proteins with savory happiness. The side dishes included mashed potatoes and green beans with cherry tomatoes. Here we have a nutritious balanced meal that would make any mama proud. Hands down, everybody’s favorite was the Kansas City style Beef Brisket that’s slow smoked in Sonny’s BBQ sauce. Whether sliced or chopped, beef brisket has a high concentration of connective tissue, as well as a fat cap layer that both tenderizes and helps maintain moisture while smoking. Now imagine combining a super tender, moist meat with a robust smoky flavor and suddenly, you’re floating in seventh heaven for meat lovers. We satiated our sugar cravings with two Dessert Shooters served in shot glasses. The chocolate aficionados made a bee line for the Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae Shooter, a tempting concoction of brownie chunks with vanilla mousse, whipped cream, and pecans. The Strawberry Shortcake Shooter rewarded our senses with a refreshing burst of fruity delightfulness. You can’t talk about the art of barbeque without talking about the sauce. As a gesture of thanks for celebrating her special day with her, Kim created fashionable party favors for her guests— wine bottles encrusted with jewel-tone sparkles and rhinestones, and embellished with feathers and lace. Each original work of art by Kim was topped with a fancy hat. As the evening’s festivities came to a close, we left the mirth at iHeart Media and walked into the coolness of the night. Our hearts, however, will forever remain warm by the generosity of the birthday girl. Our taste buds, still sizzling with lingering
all four of Sonny’s BBQ sauces are gluten free. The Sizzlin’ Sauce is smoky and sweet with a subtle hint of heat. Brown sugar and molasses bring the sweet; and cayenne and chipotle peppers bring the heat. For those who like their sauce on the sweeter side, Sonny’s BBQ’s Sweet Sauce would be your favorite pick. This wildly popular, always sold-out sauce is a sweet, tangy, tomatobased BBQ sauce that’s infused with brown sugar, vinegar, and a blend of spices. Sounds like a winner. Like some heat with your meat? Then experience the fiery kick with the tomato-based Smokin’ Sauce with aged cayenne, red jalapeno, and habanero peppers. The Original Sauce is Sonny’s BBQ’s newest addition and it’s a traditional sauce with sultry rich molasses and brown sugar. The uniformed wait staff impressed us with their attentiveness and their knowledge of the ingredients used in the sauces and menu items. Their cheerful disposition and smiling faces brought an uplifting vibe to a happy occasion. Sonny’s BBQ has elevated the art of barbeque to one that speaks to all. The sweet and spicy flavors, the smoky oak aroma, the quality of juicy meat that comes from a slow smoke cooking technique, will all seduce you into falling in love with traditional Southern-Style barbeque cuisine forever. We were treated to a very unique souvenir to take home that

Inside Out: Lymphatic Yoga For Anti-Aging Who doesn’t want to look and feel younger? It isn’t just about vanity. It is about keeping our body functioning properly by reducing the workload of our organs. Gerontologists feel that aging is due to the interaction of a variety of lifelong influences such as genetics, environmental influences, diet, stressors, past illnesses, injury and lifestyle. Makers United for Children’s Hope Foundation By: Nicole Carbon Photography By: Chuck Carroll & Julie Hirsch
S
itting across from me one recent afternoon, dressed in normal everyday attire, was a real, live super hero. I kid you not. Meet Zachary Hurst, Founder and Executive Director of the nonprofit Makers United for Children’s Hope Foundation (MUCH), whose board members include Ben Jayko, Laurie Sore, and Joe Davison. They make magic happen by uniting experts in the medical, engineering, and technology worlds who donate their extraordinary talent to help children in need. In turn, these makers get the rare opportunity to create profound differences in the lives of others using their professional skills. The miraculous impacts they are making through their involvement with the Foundation are ones they could never have dreamed to be possible. Super powers are not new to Hurst, when he was in his early 20s, he had a business where he and his team would dress up like superheroes and visit very sick and dying children in the hospital. They could make a child
smile for five or so minutes, but he knew that wasn’t enough and had a light bulb moment. His idea stemmed from the same concept of a flash mob, but instead of a group of entertainers, he’d gather a group of experts who could literally make a world of difference using their professional skills collaboratively to help these needy children and their families. So, in January 2015 MUCH was formed and started with just 45 members, all volunteers, from organizations including 501st Legion, Guardians of Justice, and the Suncoast Ghostbusters. Soon after, Hurst grew his “cast” to include difference makers in the engineering, medical, and technology industries. Today, the Foundation is made up of 439 members who donate their time, skill, and equipment to make the unimaginable a reality to sick and disabled children.
“The things we get to do are incredible!” “I thought if we could get these makers together, we would have the right people in place to change the world. What we do sounds impossible, but it’s not all that complicated. We make paths possible.”
Since starting the Foundation, the universe aligned with Hurst’s efforts attracting the right people who were on board with his mission and one day something unbelievable happened. Hurst connected with Easton LaChapelle, now 21-years-old, who built a robotic prosthetic arm from scratch using just a 3-D printer, Legos, fishing line, electric tubing, and small motors from airplane models when he was just 14-years-old. LaChapelle kept experimenting to make his robotic invention better and perfected the hand with fingers that could move, unlike normal prosthetics, which can only grip a soda can. The improved robotic arm was operated by a Teensy Arduini microcontroller, amplifier circuits, and Bluetooth receivers. Movement worked by flexing muscles then blinking the eyes to coincide with assigned tasks like hand, elbow, or arm flexing, monitored by an EEG headset to control movements by measuring brainwaves. Another astonishing fact, a normal prosthetic costs $80,000 and upward and needs to be replaced periodically because of natural human growth,
LaChapelle’s first home-made version cost a mere $250. A team at Microsoft took notice and supported LaChapelle’s invention by donating their labs, technology, and funding. Now, these prosthetics can be built in just 15 hours. The first recipient of this phenomenal invention was Momo Sutton, a 10-year-old from Orlando. This robotic hand with moving fingers and an exact replica of her fingernails replaced a hook she had been using since the age of four. Because of LaChapelle and the support of Microsoft, Momo is now fist bumping, making an A-Okay sign, a heart with her fingers, and her favorite, giving high-fives. Delivering life-changing technical devices, vehicles with lifts, and home alterations to accommodate individual needs are just one part of what MUCH accomplishes. They also help with sight and hearing impairment and team up with the Friends of Down
Syndrome Foundation, the Shriner’s Hospital, and other charitable organization(s) creating magnificent superpower experiences for children in need stretching far beyond their wildest imagination. Through these interactions the members of the MUCH Foundation are saving minds, which in turn, is saving lives. “The things we get to do are incredible.” A perfect example is Ty Verbanas, a seven-year-old with a life-threatening brain cyst needing emergency surgery. He had only a 27 percent chance of surviving it. Hurst promised Ty if he could just make it through, he’d get to spend another night with his favorite superhero, Batman. Just days before his surgery, thirty-five castmembers rushed to find a location and construct a life-size movie set of the Batcave in less than 46 hours then Ty was whisked away by Batman himself in the Batmobile to visit a real-live Batcave where he was greeted by Superman, Wonder Woman, the Green Lantern, and Spiderman–all members of the Foundation’s team.
Ty made it through that surgery because he believed he had to “fight crime with Batman,” which was his first request after a 10-hour procedure and 48 hours in a coma. With the help of Foundation supporters, Hurst says, “This is going to be the most extraordinary year because I finally have the ability to do what needs to be done.” Hurst was inspired by Walt Disney, Bob Hope, P.T. Barnum, and Jerry Lewis. ”They were my heroes.” Today, we can add Hurst to that league. You can support this extraordinary cause by visiting their website, www.muchfoundation.org www.facebook/muchfoundation Makers United for Children’s Hope Foundation (727) 251.7007 muchfoundation@gmail.com

BILL TAGLAND: DESIGN FOR LIFE By Lalaena Gonzalez-Figueroa | Photography by Chad Spencer
“Bill’s emphasis on the details reflects his commitment...”
His ability to successfully marry technical details with imaginative design has driven the flourishing career of architect Bill Tagland. The New Jersey native has integrated himself into the fabric of Sarasota’s communities with homes that are as rich and diverse as the area’s residents. His innovative approach engages clients from the onset; Bill thrives on the challenge of bringing the visions of others to light. He launched his solo career through tenacity and talent, though Bill accrued critical field experience well before he earned his professional license. “My uncle was an architect, and I started doing grunt work for him when I was twelve years old,” he recalls. Eventually he began to contribute his own designs, overnighting drawings from his college digs in Chicago. “The passion for houses has always been there,” Bill reveals. A recently rediscovered sketchbook supports this; intermingled with drawings of rocket ships and Godzilla, were homes.
Bill Tagland Tagland Bespoke Architecture 3532 San Remo Terrace Sarasota, FL 34239 (941) 993.5300 WTagland@gmail.com www.WilliamTagland.com
Take a minute to explore the hundreds of structures Bill has designed throughout the course of his career, and his creativity becomes immediately evident. “I don’t have a rote set of designs that I modify and adapt,” he says. “Instead, I sit with my clients and work to create a home that will meet their unique lifestyles.” It’s not uncommon, Bill notes, for him to sit down at an initial meeting with a blank roll of sketch paper. “We start talking, and I create a conceptual design in front of them. Of course, we are modifying it as we move forward, but that first drawing is such an exciting process for us. It’s fun, it engages my clients, and it allows them the opportunity to really make the home their own.” Bill’s designs range from classic to whimsical, and while each is a creation unique in itself, there is a nearly imperceptible vein that connects his work. “I strive to make the design timeless,” he explains. “There are exceptions, but I try to avoid a typical
look that may date a home.” Thorough research, he adds, is critical to this process. “I seek historical references that impact a particular style, and find the enduring elements.” From Tuscanstyle farmhouses, to Nantucketinspired homes, to structures that evoke the British West Indies, Bill’s creations contribute to their respective communities in their beauty, form and function. And while his designs may be found in Orlando’s heralded Celebration, the Bahamas and South Carolina, much of his work is created for clients in communities throughout Sarasota, New Jersey and their surrounding regions. Form and function collaborate in Bill’s designs; he maximizes the use of space and light to create homes that speak to their owners’ lifestyles. “There is always a view,” he observes. “My designs capitalize on the space around them.” An innovative perspective makes the difference. “I designed one home on Bird Key,” Bill recalls. “It was situated on a smaller lot, so we turned the house to sit on an angle.” Rather than opening to their neighbors’ homes, the windows now afford spectacular open views. Bill’s emphasis on the details reflects his commitment to thoughtful design and a collaborative creative process. “There are times when a home is so close,” he intones. “It will be this beautiful structure with the wrong windows. I take the time to address those details, and it shows in the finished product.” The process, he adds, involves ongoing communication between clients, contractors and the design team. When challenges arise, says Bill, the group’s ability to adapt and work together is crucial to the project’s success. “The best homes are built when everyone is on board,” he observes. Bill looks forward to continued work with Sarasota-area clients who seek to build homes that showcase their unique styles. From offbeat to traditional, contemporary to classic, his award winning work is designed for life.

Are You Ready?
I
A growing number of U.S. citizens are choosing to live in other countries. Are you ready to join them?
n 2016 more Americans than ever before surrendered their passports and chose to renounce their U.S. citizenship. The latest statistics available for 2017 also show that the numbers are continuing to climb. But this is only part of the picture. An ever-increasing number of Americans simply choose to live in a foreign country while retaining their citizenship. The decision to relocate may be based on personal, economic, financial or lifestyle choices, but it is most certainly not a decision to be taken lightly. Many Americans look to establish homes in countries where the cost of living is lower, and where their retirement funds will go further. This could mean moving to a “less developed” country, but such a move is not for everyone. I talked with a U.S. developer who offers ex-pat communities in several countries including: Belize, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Chile and Ecuador. He agreed that a move to one of these countries must be carefully considered. Over the years he has seen many successful transitions, but also some that have failed. Based on those experiences, his company developed 15 “Must Ask” questions to help people decide if such a move is likely to work for them. Are you ready to move to a foreign country? Try the quiz below and find out. You don’t need to answer “yes” to all of the questions, but allocating a score to each answer will help you assess your own suitability. The higher your score, the more likely you are to make a successful and long-lasting move.
Scoring:
1 point if you answer no/below average
2 points if you answer sometimes/average 3 points if you answer yes/above average
you don’t need to work? Or could you be if your cost of living was much lower?
1) Are you usually one of the first to try new things, new foods and new experiences?
8) Are you open to new adventures and activities?
2) Are you able to relax, willing to adapt to a slower, easier going pace, or the even the faster pace some destinations may dictate? 3) Are you a self starter who doesn’t wait for someone else to get things done? 4) Are you willing to learn the basic phrases of a new language? (Of the countries we listed above, only Belize boasts English as their official language) 5) Do you make new friends easily? 6) Are you an optimistic/glass-half-full kind of person? 7) Are you financially secure enough that
9) Do you have a hobby or interest you really want to pursue? 10) Are you comfortable being a minority in a new country? 11) Are you flexible, and easy going enough to deal with long lines/delays/ bureaucratic delays? 12) Are you genuinely interested in getting involved in a new community and joining clubs/activities? 13) When faced with problems, are you creative in figuring out how to overcome them? 14) Do you respect different cultures and realize you will be moving to THEIR country? 15) Are you healthy enough (mentally and physically) that you do not need constant medical attention? For those higher scoring readers, the world offers a number of options and retirement destinations. Many target Americans in particular, and build U.S. style resort communities for full time living, like the ones pictured here.
