smartstuff smart file management smartstuff is the new way to upload your files to realsmart. It’s quick, easy and the best way to keep all your stuff organised and accessible. accessing smartstuff Getting into smartstuff is nice and easy for you. All you have to do is log in to realsmart as you normally would and it’ll automatically sign you in to smartstuff as well! Although you’ll be logged in to smartstuff, you won’t see any evidence of it until you actually use the webcell editor within realsmart. Here is where you’ll see the smartstuff icon. Then just click it to open up smartstuff in your browser!

uploading files Once you’ve got smartstuff loaded in your browser, you’ll probably want to begin uploading files. You’ll be pleased to know this is a very short and simple two step process. First you need to access the file upload page of smartstuff. We’ve made this super easy for you by adding a big blue button that says ADD STUFF. Click this and you’re ready to select a file.
Now click the big cloud in the middle of the page and select the file you wish to upload(or you can even drag and drop the file straight onto the cloud). It’s that easy!
Once you’ve done this just sit back and wait for your file to upload. Remember, smartstuff now allows you to select and upload multiple files at once!

editing file details Congratulations, you’ve just uploaded a file to smartstuff! Now let’s take a look at how we can edit the details of an uploaded file. First off you need to find the file you wish to edit in smartstuff. This should be pretty easy as your files will be listed in ALL MY STUFF which is accessible using the link on the left of your page (you can also use the individual file type filters). Once you’ve found your file just click the edit icon next to it.
Now you’ll see the EDIT DETAILS screen, from here you can edit all the details of your file including the Title, Description and Labels.

labelling your files We know you’re eager to start inserting and embedding your newly uploaded files. But before you do that we really think you should take a minute to label them! At the moment you’ve probably only got one or two files, but in a few months time you might have hundreds! Labelling each file with keywords only takes a few seconds and will keep them organised and easy to access in the long run.
To label a file you just have to go to edit a file’s details, type in a label name and click add.
Once you’ve added one or more labels they will appear just below. Then just save changes and you’re done!
Once you’ve gotten into the habit of doing this you’ll notice a list of labels appear within smartstuff. This will make it really easy to find your files just by clicking the relevant labels! using your files Now you’re ready to use your files! Let’s get to work by inserting or embedding them into a realsmart item. To insert/embed go in to a file’s EDIT DETAILS screen and use the two buttons located just below the file preview to insert or embed your file. You can also do this from the list of your files by using the quick icons next to your file!
Inserting a file will create a link to that file in your realsmart item. This will show as a standard web hyperlink. Embedding a file will place a nice video, image or audio file directly into the realsmart item so you can look at it right there.
Once you’ve embedded or inserted a file it will take you back to the webcell editor so you can save your changes. Now you’ll have a realsmart item complete with your uploaded files!

file conversion One new feature in smartstuff is the automatic conversion of certain files. This is done as soon as a file is uploaded and will happen for all video and audio files. Due to the huge list of different devices that can now access the internet we decided it would be much better to keep all the video and audio files in the same format. This way there’s a much lower chance of any problems occuring when playing these files! You’ll notice that when you first upload video or audio files they’ll say “Still converting...” and smartstuff won’t actually allow you to embed or insert them yet. Don’t worry though, this won’t last long!
Video and audio files convert every 10 minutes so you shouldn’t have to wait any longer than this to use the files. Just keep your eye on it and be patient!
A few little rules... We do have a few constraints regarding video and audio file uploads. The size limit is 20mb and the length limit is 10 minutes.
