Candice Wiener Talk about the 2019 Greatest Medical Minds of Las Vegas! With a shortage of physicians in our community, here at Real Vegas magazine, we find it seemingly important to recognize and feature the 2019 Greatest Medical Minds here in Las Vegas and showcase some of the amazing MD’s, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists and much more within our local community that work within the medical field. Access to these local physicians and individuals within our medical community here in Las Vegas is vital. From physicians making leaps and bounds concerning medical breakthroughs in stem cell research and overall medicine in our city, Nevada still seemingly ranks low when it comes to the quality of care these practitioners provide. While Nevada has made strides recently with public healthcare advocates and local initiatives for instance like the Las Vegas Medical District is extremely important for the creation and sustainability of a consolidated medical center that is centrally located in the heart of our city. With varied medical projects in the works and local politicians heavily focused on the overall improvement of various types of healthcare projects and initiatives, we are certainly happy to see so much focus being dedicated to healthcare within the city of Las Vegas, like to LVMD. We are hopeful that Las Vegas will continue to see progress and incentivize quality doctors and healthcare professionals to stay practicing and located in the Vegas Valley. In addition to our 2019 Greatest Medical Minds of Las Vegas special features, we have also included our 2019 Greatest Real Estate Moguls of Las Vegas highlighting some exceptional movers and shakers in the real estate world here in Las Vegas. As you thumb through, you may recognize some familiar names within the real estate sector of Las Vegas and quite possibly some notable up and coming agents who work above and beyond helping buyers and sellers alike to find their dream homes right here in our community. Having an ethical agent to represent you with your real estate needs is very important to getting you the maximum offer if you are selling your home and helping guide you when you are ready to buy a new home. I have personally seen some of the most upstanding Real Estate agents here in Las Vegas that literally go above and beyond for their clients and it’s nice to see them helping locals with their real estate needs, keeping clients informed of the market trends and advising them of their options. Please join us for one of our upcoming Social Saturday pop-up events at the beautiful Tivoli Village, every Saturday, 9am-3pm and for our Vegas Resource event at Tivoli Village the last Thursday evening of every month from 6pm-9pm. We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event! Please follow us on social media: @realvegasmagazine for updates and information! And thank you for your support and for reading Real Vegas magazine!

Dr. Nagy: I would have to say the easiest and fastest way to improve the quality of care in Nevada would be to improve access to medical records. Now that all records are kept digitally, it would be good to see all legislators enact laws that reduce the barriers to health data exchange. This would be particularly useful in emergency settings. If none of the above techniques work effectively, parents should place the baby in a safe place, like the baby’s crib, and take a break. “As a parent, it can be incredibly stressful to care for a baby who won’t stop crying. We want parents and other caregivers to recognize the value of taking a moment and stepping away from a child during these tense situations,” said Amy Runge, RN, Clinical Supervisor of the Healthy Living Institute at UMC. “This will help you cool down and regain your composure.” Runge said parents should also ensure that anyone who cares for their child is aware of the dangers of shaken baby syndrome. She also urges parents to speak with babysitters and other potential caregivers about coping strategies when they feel stressed.

GreenONE Holdings Shaking up the Beverages and Nutraceutical Marketplace
By: Candice Wiener
\
Âť
NEIL FINEMAN is a long time Vegas local whose company GreenONE Holdings, is shaking up the beverages and nutraceutical marketplaces. GreenONE is doing something not seen that much in the consumables marketplace: introducing ground breaking technology. Armed with three current patents in the marketplace already, that are centered around eco-friendly innovation; Neil is betting that the science behind his latest creation, is going to change the face of nutrition and hydration for the next 50 years. Neil is the creator of iDrink water; the world’s first nano-nutrient beverage on consumer shelves.
Utilizing a water-based delivery system (instead of a traditional sugar or alcohol delivery), iDrink delivers 100’s of healthy nutrients and necessary minerals into the human body that are rapidly absorbed into the cells without any taste or flavoring whatsoever. Just a high-end tasting water with uber hydration and actual nutrition. A first of its kind in a market that continually uses words like vitamins and hydration to mislead consumers into thinking their products actually provide a value beyond their unhealthy additives. Well know distributors are taking notice of this new, game changing delivery system, and the irony that this water is from Las Vegas, is not lost upon them. Nevada Beverage (Budweiser), John Lenore, Haralambos, and even Nicholas & Company, have all come to Las Vegas to sign on iDrink, and bring it back to their local partners on The West Coast and Midwestern States. Now 3 years in, The East Coast is calling, and Neil is doubling down on his bet. Having invested much of GreenONE’s capital and resources into products just as bio-available as iDrink, Neil is gambling that the consumer will want to have “ready to use” versions of iDrink in small, transportable “shots” that are made for specific purposes. An “i line” of consumer hydration and nutrient “shots” that are meant as much for the weekend warrior and dehydrating local as it is for the elite athlete and soldier.

partygoer return home safely. All of this rapid hydration, nutrition, and easy convenience are heady stuff from the son of another true innovator. Neil’s father, Jerry Fineman, was the first person to convince Walt Disney and Sesame Street to license their characters on toys. His creation of hundreds of

character driven toys, thrilled parents and children alike for over 40 years; and paved the road for future generations of toy manufacturers. His Tickle Me Elmo toy with its open packaging design (also a first of its kind) is still the number one selling toy of all time. Following in his father’s footsteps, Neil has taken a new technology and figured out how to apply it to a much needed marketplace; Creating “better for you” drinks and supplements. As Neil and GreenOne Holdings like to say about the iDrink Line: and its new delivery system: “They’re all IV’s in a bottle”. Fun stuff for a town just looking to pack more life in a 24-hour day. Look for iDrink’s offerings (idrinkbeverages.com) in a regular or virtual store near you.

to create a diagnostic tool and protocol to establish the break in communication from the nervous system to the muscles; after all, muscle is the outward expression of the nervous system. Dr. Björn Nordenström’s extensive research and studies, including his book, “Biologically closed Electric Circuits”, provides compelling evidence that the human body is a biologically closed electrical system and when disease or injury occurs, there is a charge formed in the affected tissue. This finding assists in explaining why ARPwave developed the diagnostic tools and protocol we use today. We can now identify the origin of the miscommunication and figure out what exactly is causing the symptoms. This step is called Neuro Diagnostics. Since all symptoms of pain or restricted motion are a neurological pattern, ARPwave developed a 20 session treatment plan to disrupt the old pattern and create a new neurological pattern. ARPwave calls this step Neuro Pattern Reset. The philosophy behind the Neuro Pattern Reset is the greater the stimulus the greater the change. ARPwave’s Neuro Pattern Reset breaks old compensation patterns and dramatically improves functional strength allowing all clients to move freely without pain. To date, ARPwave has treated hundreds of thousands of patients with Neuro Therapy with better than a 95% success

IN MARCH I kicked the sugar habit. It has been the hardest thing I’ve done so far this year for my health. In January, I broke up with sodas. In February I kicked carbs to the curb. I was dreading March with every ounce of my being. I’m sure you’re thinking that with the changes I had already made sugar shouldn’t have been that big of deal… but I am here to set the record straight for anyone thinking that cutting sugar out of their diet is easy. “Sugar is 8 times as addictive as cocaine. And what’s interesting is while cocaine and heroin activate only one spot for pleasure in the brain, sugar lights up the brain like a pinball machine.“ says Dr Mark Hyman.
REAL VEGAS
EVERYTHING contains sugar; ketchup, spaghetti sauce, sports drinks, granola and more! Avoiding sugar is almost impossible. I focused on cutting out processed sugar, cutting out things I knew had sugar in them, and keeping the natural sugars to a minimum. I had nightmares about sugar in ingredient labels. There are over 50 common names for sugar! Get to know them and learn to avoid them, even the ones that claim to be a healthy alternative to sugar. The first week of no sugar, I was a raging lunatic.
I’m not
a person with a sweet tooth but I love carbs! And having to scale those back while giving up my apple juice or my morning Starbucks was $h*t!

» MY father lived fast and died young—56—it was calamitous. I was 26, baby-faced, fresh out of law school, out of the world’s womb, into the light of day, only to have it instantly smothered in darkness. Never mind that I was brand new to all the machinations of grownup life; I had to suddenly take over and run my dad’s business, one I knew nothing about. When people try to console you who haven’t lost their dearest, they’ll say reassuring stuff like, “oh when I lost my fourth cousin, I was devastated.” Maybe they did lose a relative, but they haven’t lost a parent, a person who had a certain mythic presence. It’s like a nuclear reactor decimated the landscape of my life. It’s taken a long time to simply get my bearings again. Before my father died, seventeen years ago, I was comfortable; I thought tomorrow wasn’t too unpredictable, blissfully asleep to the reality that the passing day is an alive and wild phenomenon. I learned how little control I had. Nature does not consult. While I didn’t have to watch him suffer in a prolonged way, I never got the chance to say goodbye. A sudden death may be quickly absorbed, but takes a lifetime to digest.

My mother’s death, on the other hand, was a tortured one; over time, until she succumbed over five years ago, at 63. new things together. Not long before she passed, when she was still free of the tightening grip of illness, we rented bikes on the Florida beach. Mom and I were out there in the light breeze, dodging joggers and skateboarders, trying not to wipeout on our butts. We laughed hard enough to fall over. There’s so many wonderful memories of things we did together, and even those threaten to slip away. I’ve been running from the pain, but it outruns me. It sits up on my very eyelids. I haven’t said “Mom” in five years. I used to say it every day. I can sit in a restaurant, a hotel, or in my dreams at night—anywhere at all, and an upsurge of grief can come. It doesn’t announce itself with grandiosity; it whispers. When a loved one passes, there’s an odd juxtaposition; their spirit is brought down into your heart, and in this way, they remain with you. But, at the same time, loss of their physical form has left a part of that same heart missing. But there is a way forward through the darkness, a path to follow, however difficult, until light rises again. I still struggle to accept loss, but do chip away at it, and know my parents are proud. We must be willing to touch into our wound and let it heal. The more open and less resistant, the better we are able to live life anew. The good news is, we still can. I hope you do.

EDO Gast ro Tapas & Win e

OVER the last year Vegas locals have witnessed the exciting transformation of Chinatown as it began opening its arms to embrace culinary diversity. Enter EDO Gastro Tapas & Wine, a welcome addition to the burgeoning eclectic Spring Valley dining scene. EDO, or Extra Day Off, occupies the former home of Chada Thai in a bustling South Jones Boulevard multiplex. My first of many EDO Gastro Tapas & Wine experiences began at 8pm on a Saturday night. I didn’t have a reservation but somehow managed to slip in and procure the only available table in the restaurant. The ambience is warm and cozy which also implies limited seating, so do make a reservation in advance. Also allow yourself ample time for parking, it can be challenging to find a spot.
As I stepped inside I was warmly greeted by Managing Partner Roberto Liendo, strategically positioned at the front of house like a seasoned maestro leading his orchestra. Liendo’s propensity for elevating restaurants to AAA Four-Diamond and Michelin Star status and his extensive experience working under Jose Andres and Michael Mina have primed him to become a great restaurateur. At EDO there’s an attention to detail that ordinarily is not found in Off Strip dining establishments. One glance at the table set

HOW about turning your clutter into kindness? Meet Michele Morgan, Executive Director and founder of Dinosaurs and Roses. Dinosaurs and Roses is a local 501©(3) non-profit organization committed to serving the disadvantaged throughout the Las Vegas community. Their mission encompasses three goals. They are big supporters of the global environment encouraging the recycling, re-using, and re-purposing of goods and materials and returning the proceeds to their community outreach programs. They continue to inspire breakthroughs in the way underprivileged children are educated. Case in point, Dinosaurs and Roses is one of only six Nevada Registered Scholarship Organizations providing a scholarship program which has to-date raised several million dollars toward granting opportunities for low income children to attend private schools. Lastly, they strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the disadvantaged. By referral, the thrift store offers free clothing and toiletries to low-income families and those affected by some type of crisis, thus receiving a shopping experience that reflects extra kindness and dignity.
Aisles of merchandise tantalize thrift shoppers; both locals and tourists alike, to shop for antiques, vintage, books, jewelry, furniture, home decor, art work, electronics, media, clothing, shoes, children’s items, dishes, carpets, lamps and knickknacks. Tons of hidden treasures are found on every rack. Dinosaurs and Roses receives generous donations from vendors of the World Market Center, so you can walk away with a brandnew piece of furniture incredibly-priced lower than its retail value. While you are there, you can also request a one-on-one appointment at their 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse hidden away on the east side of town. There you will find one-of-a-kind home décor/furniture inventory before it becomes available to the general public. Online re-sellers make Dinosaurs and Roses their first stop for inventory. The friendly thrift store staff love to haggle, so don’t hesitate to name your price. Because all sales benefit charity, the staff are motivated to sell, sell, sell, as each sale will help someone in need. Mention this article and receive 50% off your entire purchase. Please come to 5220 West Charleston located between Jones and Decatur for your shopping pleasure. Like us on Facebook Dinosaurs and Roses for special offers. Please visit our website dinosaursandroses.org or call us at 702.277.3752 for additional information and warehouse appointments. Please consider donating your new or gently-used items to us to lighten your load and fill the heart of someone else.
