You will be studying in the beautiful, rural setting of Cheshire, one mile from the market town of Nantwich with good connections to Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool and Chester.

The Reaseheath campus itself is small enough to retain its friendly, family atmosphere, but large enough for you to be able to mix with lots of groups of students. Our front lawn is great to sit out on during the summer and the College lake has much wildlife to watch. Over the past few years we have invested over £50 million in our campus to give you the best possible environment for learning. A further £30 million investment is planned for the campus including a £6 million advanced agricultural technology and engineering facility, new halls of residence and new sporting facilities.

Our facilities include: • Purpose-built £8.3 million National Centre for Horticulture, the Environment and Sustainable Technology • Brand new 3G rugby pitch and Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) and sports hall with indoor climbing wall • Free WiFi connection across main campus areas • Brand new science laboratories • Gym with state-of-the-art equipment and sports science laboratory • On-site accommodation for 850 students, with 12 halls of residence • Student bar, social area and under 18s common room • 5 catering outlets including the Reaseheath Restaurant, Feast Café and Bootzone • Library and Learning Resource Centre • IT teaching centre • A zoo, farm and equestrian centre on campus

UK Quality Mark for Higher Education at Reaseheath

Reaseheath College’s higher education students receive an excellent experience, the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) has confirmed. They particularly commended the quality and enhancement of student learning opportunities, finding that in those two areas the college exceeded expectations.

Reaseheath Alumni Association

When you’ve finished your studies at Reaseheath, we’d love you to stay connected to college by joining our alumni* network. By staying in touch, you’ll hear about opportunities to help expand your skills and develop your CV. Don’t worry, we’ll be in touch closer to the time, but in the meantime take a look at www.reaseheath.ac.uk/alumni if you’d like more information. @RHC_Alumni

Access to Higher Education Created for over 19s who have not yet studied at university, the Access to Higher Education Diploma is equivalent to three A levels and will prepare you to study at degree level at Reaseheath or elsewhere. Designed to enable you to re-adjust to the learning environment, most teaching is carried out through student friendly lessons, assignments and practical activities. A dedicated support tutor is available to help you progress through your studies so you don’t need to worry - even if you have been out of education for some time. Flexibility is the key to this one year course, which runs over three days a week between 10am - 3pm to fit in with work or family commitments. If you have ambition to go on to a higher level course and a keen motivation to learn visit www.reaseheath.ac.uk/access for more information.

Our courses have more of a practical side to them than courses in sixth forms and some other colleges. If you have an interest in subjects such as Biology, Physics or Maths why not explore this with one of our courses like Animal Management, Agriculture, Horticulture, Sport or Engineering?

Full time courses run at different levels (Entry Level Level 3) dependent on your previous qualifications and experience. We also offer apprenticeship programmes at levels 2 and 3. These programmes are for those of you who are in employment and who wish to gain new qualifications (see page 26 for further details).

We offer a number of routes within each level to suit individual needs. You can apply for the course level based on your GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.

MATHS AND ENGLISH Employers frequently stress the importance of achieving a good level of understanding in Maths and English as they are essential to the world of work and used on a daily basis. Reaseheath College takes your overall education and employment prospects seriously and will ensure that after leaving school, you have the opportunity to further enhance these important skills. Achieving Maths and English at GCSE 9-4 (previously A*-C) are essential for progression within Further Education and to Higher Education and employment. If you have yet to achieve these grades you will restudy these subjects in order to work towards achieving a minimum of a grade 4. If you leave school with high grades in Maths and English, these skills will be further developed to ensure you are well equipped to work eectively in the industry of your choice. On starting your course at Reaseheath your GCSE results (and any other qualifications) will be used to identify which level of Maths and/or English you will be required to study.

If you have not yet achieved your grade 4 GCSEs you will continue studying Maths and English up to three hours a week and will be taught by specialised Maths and/or English tutors. Most of these students will continue to study GCSE but some may be better suited to study an alternative Maths and/or English stepping stone qualification. Your vocational tutors will also support you to work through a whole range of Maths and English activities that relate to your chosen industry. For example, you may be asked to prepare a written and verbal presentation and your written course work will require good grammar and spelling. For Maths, you may have to complete calculations and be required to collect and use data. If you are aged 19 and over and have not yet achieved GCSEs at grade 4, you will have the option of taking further Maths and/or English qualifications suitable for your level free of charge. For students under 19 it is a government requirement that the College works to support the development of these skills.

Not only is it easier to find employment with GCSEs, but the starting salary of young people with GCSEs is over ÂŁ2,000 more than those without, and the gap is widening. The Guardian 2014

A ‘distinction’ student on her course, she already had ‘A’ levels when she came to us and will continue onto a degree once she returns from a summer teaching riding with Camp America. Becky brought her own mare ‘Spirit’ to college as a working livery but widened her riding experience thanks to our range of schoolmasters.
