Additional Qualifications If a student chooses to study additional qualifications there will be a fee charged of between £100 and £500 per qualification. * If you have a Level 2 in English and / or Maths and you have a learning disability please contact Lynne Chapman on 01270 613160 to discuss the possibility of fees being charged for this course.
The tuition fees shown are correct for 2015/16. Fees will change for 2016/17 including those undertaking the second year of a course. Students aged 19-23 who are studying their first Level 2 qualification or aged between 19-23 and studying their first Level 3 qualification will not be expected to pay tuition fees. Students will be required to complete a form at the start of term confirming this. Tuition fees are due in full at the start of term in September however, it will be possible for you to set up an instalment plan online or with the Student Finance Team. After each half term the student will be excluded from classes until payment for tuition fees is made or instalment plan is set up. Payments which continue to be outstanding will result in the student being excluded.
24+ Advanced Learning Loan If you are 24 or older, you can apply for a loan to help with the costs of a college course. The loan covers tuition fees only. The course must start on or after 1st August 2015 and be at Level 3 or Level 4 (such as A Levels or an Advanced Apprenticeship). Repayments do not start until April 2018 and you will not have to pay anything back until you are earning over £21,000 a year. Meal Cards Some residential students in college accommodation will be issued with a meal allowance on their student cards which will allow them to purchase food and beverages through any of the College catering outlets. Please note the following: 1. At the start of each term student cards will be credited with the equivalent of £35.00 per week for that term, this should normally cover the cost of breakfast and evening meal. The credit on your card covers weeks within normal term time only. It does not cover periods between terms, half-terms or study weeks. 2. The total amount credited should be used by the end of a term, however credit will be transferred to the next term. If a student has been absent from college due to long term illness credits will be calculated on an individual basis. No credit can be transferred to the following academic year. 3. Students with larger appetites or who intend on staying in college at weekends can add extra credit to the card via payment online. 4. Any card that is lost should be reported to the Student Services Manager or catering cash point immediately (cost of replacement card is £5.00). Invoices for college accommodation and meals will be sent out prior to the start of the Autumn term to the student’s home address for the year. All other correspondence for residential students will be sent via the internal student post. Other charges that may be due for residential students are weekend bus passes. Students who cause damage on-site will be billed for the repair and these fees will be due immediately. If payment is not received at the appropriate time:• After 2 weeks the meal card will be blocked to purchase meals until payment received (no refund will be given for any expenses incurred whilst the meal card has been stopped and no reduction made to accommodation fees). • After 4 weeks the student is likely to be excluded from classes until payment is received. • If debts continue to be unpaid the student will be excluded from college accommodation until payment received. Some courses e.g. Equine and Agriculture include a period of stock duties during which students are residential. Payment for board and food is charged on a weekly basis for stock duties. This is payable online. In addition a key deposit is required which is returned once the key is returned safely. Payment is required before the stocks duties commence. A timetable of stocks duties is given out by the course tutor (no application form required). Residential application forms are enclosed within this booklet. Due to high demand these should be returned as soon as possible. In recent years many mature students have elected to find their own accommodation and we suggest this activity is carried out as soon as possible. If you have any queries regarding accommodation, please contact our Student Services Team on 01270 613209 or email studentservices@reaseheath.ac.uk

Information on Accommodation Information for under 18 year old students considering living in residential accommodation. Statement of principles and practice The College provides accommodation to students who are under the age of 18. The following statements are designed to help prospective students, and their parents, when deciding on the appropriateness of considering residential accommodation.
Accommodation aim “Reaseheath College offers a residential provision, ensuring a safe and secure environment which facilitates academic recruitment and retention, whilst developing learners in their personal, social and life skills.” • Residential accommodation is offered to those prospective students who, due to distance away from the college, cannot travel on a daily basis or who have specific reasons requiring the need to be accommodated on the campus. A range of accommodation is offered on the campus at varying prices to those students. • The majority of students needs can be met by the college but facilities are not available to effectively support individuals with significant medical or other requirements. • The College offers around 785 bed spaces in a mix of single and shared rooms for under 18 year old students. All halls of residence are same gender and meet the National Care Standards Commission requirements. • Students under the age of 18 are accommodated in same gender halls of residence separate from the over 18 year old students who also live on the campus. All under 18 students are accommodated on the main college campus where arrangements are in place to ensure high standards of welfare and safeguarding. Students who are under 18 years of age are expected to follow specific rules (available on request) which are designed to keep them safe. • Once a student is offered a place on their course they may apply for residential accommodation from June to start college in September. Applications for residential accommodation are reviewed by the Student Services team during July who allocate rooms on the basis of a range of factors which includes potential travel times and specific needs. The final allocation of specific rooms is based on a number of factors and in those cases where it is not possible to offer a place in September, the student goes onto a waiting list. • Once in accommodation students normally remain in allotted rooms. Accommodation rules and arrangements are modified once a student reaches the age of 18 or if significant issues arise in their hall of residence. Any requests to change rooms have to be agreed with the Student Services Manager. fo llow us on t w i t t e r / re a s e he a thc olle ge

Residential Information
Student Information Booklet • The care and safeguarding of students is maintained through a team of Safeguarding Officers with cover provided by staff of both genders on a 24 hour, 7 days a week basis. The team of Welfare Officers support students who have non-academic issues whilst at the College. All halls of residence are protected by access control, CCTV and vetted Safeguarding Officers. Although excellent monitoring arrangements are in place at the College it has to be recognised that a degree of maturity is required from the student to make a success of residential accommodation. • Students are closely monitored whilst on the College campus and arrangements are in place to allow individuals to leave the campus in an evening in a controlled manner. Under 18 year old students in halls of residence are expected to abide by a specific set of rules (available on request) which are issued to students once a place has been offered. Parents are also asked to read the College Residential Agreement and confirm they also understand the rules and are asked to support the College in ensuring under 18 year old students follow rules. • A multi faith support member of staff is available at the college as is a multi-faith prayer room. The college catering outlets can provide special diets on request. • The College offers evening activities which are organised for students. Students are actively encouraged to participate in the wide range of activities offered by the College. The residential experience helps a student develop social and interpersonal skills. Other information that is distributed to students but which is also available on request that students and parents can access are as follows: • Rules and Regulations - “College Residential Agreement” • Student Handbook and Diary

The Unique Learner Number (ULN) What is a ULN? The ULN is a unique 10-digit number, and most learners aged 14+ have one. It’s designed to work with your Personal Learning Record (PLR), helping to give you proof of your learning and achievements from aged 16 onwards.
Why would I want one? Because it is unique to you, the ULN ensures that the qualifications and achievements you have worked so hard for are credited permanently to you online and helps control access to your PLR. Your ULN will stay with you for life as you build up a record of education and skills achievement. The ULN is the educational equivalent of your National Insurance number.
Where can I find mine? Your ULN may already be printed on your exam results slip or award certificate. There are 10 digits, remember - it’s not the same as your Candidate, Exam, or Centre Number. If you haven’t received a ULN already, you can ask your school, college, university or training provider to give you one. Keep your ULN safe. It’s unique to you and it’s the key to accessing your PLR and verifying your learning and training to others.
Can you tell me my ULN? For security reasons, the Learning Records Service can’t tell you your ULN or give you access to your PLR. Your learning provider, who is best placed to verify your identity and protect your privacy, must do this for you. If this is a problem, ask them to contact us on 0845 602 2589 or email lrssupport@learningrecordsservice.org.uk.
Where can I get further help? Things to do Aged 16 - 19 You can contact a Careers Advisor
Find my ULN. Write it down and keep it safe.
Aged 19+ Contact the National Careers Service Telephone: 0800 100 900
Log in and take a look.

PLR and ULN fact sheet for learners Personal Learning Record (PLR) What is a PLR? The PLR is a permanent online record which collects all your learning achievements, including GCSEs, A Levels, BTEC awards, qualifications and work-based learning, into one convenient place.
Why would I want one? The PLR makes life a lot easier for you. It gives you a life-long record of qualifications and skills achievement, which can be used by colleges, training bodies and employers as evidence, so that you no longer have to hand over copies of different certificates when enrolling on courses or applying for jobs. You can also share your PLR with careers advisors when deciding what you should study next.
Who can see it? Your PLR belongs to you, and you have control over it. Other people can only view your PLR with your permission. You can also choose which parts of your PLR to print out as a report, when using it as proof of qualifications for employers, for example. Organisations may want to view your PLR when adding qualifications they’ve awarded you, or check what qualifications are already there, but they can only do this with your permission via a Privacy Notice Agreement, and using your Unique Learner Number (ULN).
How can I access it? If you’re aged 16-19, ask your school, college or training provider to set you up with access to your Learner Account. You’ll need your ULN, password and email address to log in for the first time. If you’re aged 19+, you’ll be able to access your PLR through the National Careers Service, as well as through your registered learning provider.
