I didn’t want an actual image of nostril hair because that’s just too disgusting, right? I had imagined using images which appear to something that they’re not, like this apple/ face. So for hair I found a photo of the back of a model’s head.
1. To give the impression of a nostril (can’t believe I’m writing this!) I cut a circular shape out of a pink, vaguely skin-toned, rectangle and placed it behind the hair model. I used the burn brush in PS to add some shadow to the opening.
I chose a clean, thin sans-serif font to get the information across in a discreet and readable way. I’m really happy with this. There’s a playful ambiguity. It’s like ‘hot dog legs’, a fun internet phenomenon.
