We took a survey in our class of our favorite teachers and this month we decided just exactly who are favorite teachers are. You see, as eighth graders we've been at Willkie for the past three years, and we know who we like. So, here are the highlights of our fav teachers and a little about why we love them so much.
How long have you been a teacher? I've been a teacher for 11 years.
Why did you decide to become a teacher? I became a teacher to help students discover and see the best in themselves.
8th grade-Mrs. Banta AVID / Principal of Human Services
Why we love Mrs. Banta: We love Mrs. Banta because she's so positive and makes it fun to learn. Plus we love being able to eat what we make in her class. She's really sweet and encourages us to comes together as a family.
How long have you been a teacher? I have been a classroom teacher for six years, but have worked in a variety of roles with the youth for twenty years.
Why did you decide to become a teacher? I became a teacher to help students with reading skills because I struggled as a reader growing up. I hope to encourage students to be world changers, better citizens, and influence the communities around them.
7th grade- Mr. Payne ELAR / Foundations
Why we love Mr. Payne: He's very relatable because he went through the same struggles.
How long have you been a teacher? I have been a teacher for 10 years.
Why did you decide to become a teacher? I absolutely love math. I want to share that love with others. Knowledge is power.
6th grade-Mrs. Jones / Math
Why we love Mrs. Jones: She pushes you to be successful and makes you realize your potential.
