Hello, I’m Rebecca. I write, design and think creatively.

About Me Hi, I’m Rebecca. Ever since I can remember, I have believed that I was born to stand out. I always had a quirky side which made it a little easier for me to be different. When I was 7 years old, I set up a lemonade stand on my front lawn. It was a blistering hot summer day in St. Louis. There was a pitcher, cups and a makeshift cash box filled with one dollar bills and coins for change. Next to the pitcher, there was a bowl filled with tiny slips of folded paper. The sign read “Lemonade and Laughs, Cups: 50 cents, Jokes: 10 cents.” I anxiously awaited customers as the sun began to warm up the lemonade pitcher.

10 cents, sir.” He reached for his wallet and pulled out a ten dollar bill. He told me to “keep the change because the world needs more of you.” I didn’t know what he meant by that at the time but as I have gotten older, I’ve appreciated that act of kindness more and more each day. I have never stopped innovating and developing ideas. From planning family-wide events to designing personalized gifts to collaborating with my co-workers, I used my skills to make the world a better place.

A man pulled his truck over and approached my stand. I asked him if I could interest him in a cup of lemonade but he shook his head as he was already holding a large QuikTrip Styrofoam cup.

From the moment I wake up in the morning, my wheels are turning. “Where can I improve? How can things/designs be better? Are my ideas relevant to the goals at-hand?” I am constantly honing my skills by observing signage, magazines, packaging and promotional materials and creating from that inspiration.

“I’ve had a bad day,” he said, “ I’ll take a joke.” My eyes widened as I pulled a Laffy Taffy joke out of the paper-filled bowl. “That’ll be

I have had some incredible opportunities to gain invaluable experience in the professional world as a marketing and communications

professional and graphic designer that have allowed me to decide where I ultimately want to be, what I want to do and who I want to help in the process, all while mastering my creative skills to be the best asset that I can be to your company. I have held a multitude of positions, each unique in their own ways, but through each of them I have found my strengths, areas of improvement and methods for success. If I worked with you, I would give nothing but my best in order to succeed and excel in my areas of expertise which include creative strategy and graphic design. I welcome any and all opportunities because I believe there is something to learn everywhere, but I feel especially compelled by the agency atmosphere and would love the opportunity to get my foot in the door at your agency.

Fast Facts I like to shop at thrift stores. I never know what eclectic and cool things I am going to find.

My favorite font is constantly changing but if I had to pick one, it would be Didot.

My favorite food is cherry tomatoes. I prefer them over most desserts.

I follow more dogs on Instagram then people I know in real life.

Samples Over the years, I have collected pieces that show a wide variety of my skill set, along with the evolution of my style as a designer and creative. Here are just a few of the many final products I have created for several companies and campus organizations.

The Standard - Missouri State University Illustrations // 2014 - 2016 Top: This graphic was created in Adobe Illustrator to compliment a feature story about the effects of vegetables and healthy eating. Bottom: This editorial illustration was created by hand and Adobe Illustrator to illustrate the eating disorder epidemic on a college- level scale.

Missouri Athletic Club Notices // 2016 These 11 x 17 posters were created in Adobe InDesign to promote club events, special messages and notices. Close attention to the brand guidelines assisted these to be as successful as they were.

MSU Communications Teacher Appreciation Poster // 2016 As a component of Teacher Appreciation Week, I created these typographic posters for teachers in the communications department.

MSU Communications Promotional Postcards // 2015 These postcards were written and created in InDesign. The purpose of this project was to recruit undecided students to the communications department at Missouri State.

DIY Doctor Logo Creation // 2016 After a sit down with the client, I created several designs for a new sewing start-up and this was the final product and became the logo for the company.

Missouri Athletic Club Recruitment Brochure // 2016 I created a promotional brochure to recruit members who do not currently live in Missouri or surrounding areas.

RedBubble Stickers // 2016 - 2017 I began creating stickers for my own purchase when I couldn’t find designs to my liking. Overtime, I have sold more than 1000 stickers and have made custom designs for customers around the world.

Samples Maes Gelateria Public Relations Plan // 2016 In 2016, I received the opportunity to work with a new ice cream shop in Springfield, Missouri. The concept was a gelateria, much like the ones the owner found in San Fransisco while living there. The shop saw little profit after its soft opening in July and was in dire need of some marketing strategies to put them on the map. I created a plan to help get their business running for real and many of my strategies, including a push for social media and campus visits, were implemented in coming months and the shop saw a measurable increase in profit.

HOPE Foundation Media Kit // 2016 As part of a semester long project, my team and I collaborated on a media kit and public relations plan for the HOPE Foundation, a non-profit that serves as financial assistance for pediatric emergencies in Springfield, Missouri. I took charge of the media kit and included various analyses including a SWOT, Message map, info-graphics and a demographic analysis. The media kit also included press releases, background information, a flier and a feature story. In addition to the media kit, I also mocked up a new, user-friendly website for the organization.

Legacy Bagelry & Bakery Public Relations Plan // 2015 I worked with Legacy Bagelry in Springfield, MO on strategies and tactics to increase their profits with college students. Strategies included visiting campus organizations meetings, offering catering discounts for large groups such as sororities and fraternities, extending hours on the weekends and even introducing a customer loyalty program which offered rewards to customers who visited often.

The Cherry Diamond, Missouri Athletic Club Feature Story // 2016 In the Missouri Athletic Club’s monthly magazine, I researched wedding trends and wrote the feature story for the special events issue. The article itself was four pages long and covered a variety of wedding topics, including budget, preferred seasons, dresses and, of course, venue choices which highlighted the MAC as a prime location for a wedding in St. Louis.
