Two years ago at the New Years Resolution sale the Hougham boys stepped out and bought choice on the great RF 202Z’s embryo inventory and the Olympian sired eggs were the winning choice. Black Gold Ms Tula 58D will be the first female to sell at public auction in western Canada sired by Excalibur. 58D is the result of embryos purchased in the New Years Resolution Sale. We ended up getting 3 black baldy calves that were very consistent for being sired by 3 different bulls. 58D’s sire, Excalibur is an exciting herd sire from South of the border. He was a high seller at Denver, commanding $65,000 for half interest. With his pedigree being completely free of Dream On, combined with his flashy and powerful presence, make him an intriguing herd sire. 58D’s dam, Tula 1R is a true matron in the Simmental breed being the mother of Drake PokerFace. Dotty’s sire is the $50,000 high selling Combustible son Ultra Livestock sold to Regan Schlacter that we hear has sired some very impressive progeny for Regan. When an animal catches your eye time after time at multiple different events throughout the fall a guy has to stop and take a deeper look. Well that animal was Brooking Bank Note for me, he had the look, the come buy me look. That wasn’t quite feasible for us and snatched up a semen pack instead. At first it was an investment but later turned into something to build on in our own herd. We selected a few females to mate with him and the result has been nothing short of impressive. Selling half blood sons last year and leaving commercial producers asking if we were going to do it again for next year helped to solidify our choice of using him. The females were our main focus with using him and knew they would make great cows to build from. So good that they have found their way to the top and into top end sales this fall like this one and SimPower a couple weeks before FNL. Ms Tease has been a standout since a young age with her large spring of rib, smooth shoulder, clean lines and striking femininity. She strides out easy on a big square hoof with a promising udder development. Her dam RDD 128W has been a consistent calver with a daughter in herd, one selling through the bull sale as well as two sons going to local commercial cattleman. She is massive in her rib shape that ties into a soft flank with a tidy, balanced udder behind that. The MumboJumbo cows are the back bone of our black program and they have shown to be very productive for us. The service to NCB Cobra should be a profitable one as he has shown to work on all types to raise the good ones.

Here is a powerfully constructed female that has tremendous rib capacity, mass, and depth of quarter. She is admired for her adequate bone, sharp front end, nice teat placement, and overall balance. We have decided to offer these two paternal sisters who are sired by the $40,000 Empire bull that Jean Francois Leblond purchased from us in our 2016 bull sale. We were fortunate to draw semen before he left for Quebec for our own use, and both Jean Francois and ourselves are very happy with his calves. What initially drew us to this heifer was her stylish, feminine front end and beautiful neck extension. She has since developed into a heifer that is about as long and square as they come. Her dam is moderate framed, easy keeping, with a picture perfect udder. She goes back to the great God Father bull. We used him quite extensively and cannot say enough about the attractive, functional females he has left in our herd. No introduction is needed for her well known sire- Red Rocket. This dark cherry red heifer is one that will make a great addition to any herd. Her smooth profile and feminine make will turn heads. I can’t say enough about these Wheatland Circuit Breaker calves they are pridy sweet I’d have to say. 752E is stout, thick, deep bodied fancy gal with great hair. A heifer that will mature into a great producing cow with an unreal udder just like her young dam. These Red Mountain cows really turned into great productive cows that are powerful, deep and milk strong with very nice udders. We have milking Circuit Breaker daughters in the herd and they are everything we could hope for they will be making an impact in our herd for years to come. Calamity Jane has a very good disposition and would make a great 4-H and show prospect and also good foundation cow. Well here she is a true sale feature from the very top end of our heifer pen. Outlaw Ms After Party is a heifer that gets you excited every time you look at her cause she just keeps getting better and better. The potential she has is endless, either it’s a show heifer, mama cow or your next donor. She is so stout, sound structured, thick topped, big hipped, lots of middle, great hair, very nice fronted and super disposition. Our donor, Tess Ms Red 123Z has done it again and it seems whatever we breed or flush to her she just keeps impressing us with consistency and making them damn good. She is an outstanding Tess Rampage daughter that has had the look of being a top producing donor cow since day 1 when we purchased her from Tessier Simmentals. She is a very moderate, deep, powerful, great uddered, solid red picture perfect cow. Two years ago her circuit breaker heifer calf sold in this very sale for $15,000 and her last year heifer was retained in herd. We flushed 123Z to JF Milestone and what a flush it was. 7106E being the only heifer but has 2 solid red, 2 solid black and 1 black blaze full brothers that are all impressive and consistent individuals that will head line our 2nd annual bull sale in February. The Milestone cattle have proven themselves to be very highly productive and marketable cattle. You will want to have a few milestone females in your herd. She’s angular, deep ribbed, sharp fronted and comes to you from one of our favourite cows, Crossroad X-Sula, a beautiful Beefmaker daughter. Autumn 44E is patterned very similar to her mother who has a picture perfect udder and terrific feet and legs. Her sire, RWR Fireball 35B, was a high seller in our 2015 bull sale for $21,500 purchased by Wallgren Farms. Cherry Whiskey represents the first calf crop from our walking Discovery son from Meadow Acres and she is crossed with a good young Virginia Radison daughter that did a real nice job raising her second calf. Cherry Whiskey possesses as much style and presence as any we will drag out this fall. Dark complexion and a money strip for good measure. She is a female you have to really admire for the way she gets out and moves while being very proud through her front end, considering the amount of mass she carries hitting her holes with every stride. We really admire this heifer for her looks and think she could be one to hang a halter on, but most importantly she is one we think will be an exciting addition to her new owners replacement pen.

We are confident Winfrey will be as stout hipped and have as much spring to her rib as any other simmental heifer calf you will find. She is absolutely a tank when you get behind her and can see the power over her top. When you take a look at this girls pedigree, it’s easy to see why. We purchased her 680S sired dam as a bred heifer from the good folks at Crossroad Farms and she has been an excellent producer for us! 349W also has a daughter in the Czech-Mate herd that is doing an upstanding job for them. These Heavy Hitter progeny have out done our expectations!!! Check out the performance in their weaning weights, their overall mass and growth, and their easy fleshing, correct structures. Opal 1E is the natural calf off of our foundation Opal 652S cow. This cow has a long list of accomplishments for what she has raised for both sale calves and those 14 daughters we have now kept in the herd. This is a female we really love how long spined she is and how her neck comes out of her shoulder. She has piles of depth of body, is stout through her heart girth, tracks very true on her feet and legs, and again has that big pin spread and big muscle definition that we see on all the Heavy Hitter calves. The young cow she is out of, goes back to another foundation donor cow here, Mader Blackgold 110S. Blackgold has consistently led our program for GRANDDAM the past numerous years, and we now have about 10 daughters milking in the herd. The Blackgold cow family is heavy milking, high in volume, and flat out work! After seeing this first calf crop of Heavy Hitter calves, we decided this spring to let him breed the bulk of the black cows. Its hard to find a bull who can consistently produce the right kind, and one that gives you extra bone, foot size, softness, muscle defintion, and that overall balance. Kiss This has been one of our favourites all year long! She is very feminine fronted than explodes into a huge rib cage. You will also admire her for her added length of spine, stoutness over that top, and the depth that she has through her twist and lower stifle. This is the first progeny to sell off ‘McDavid’, the ‘LFE Heaven Sent 30X’ son who was the high selling bull in the 2015 Lewis Farm’s Bull Sale. Here is a female we are not sure why we are not keeping. The 6T Dynamite Black cow will now have her second daughter sell on the grand stage which is Friday Night Lights. At some point we will have to start keeping her daughters, this cow just flat out works. 717E herself is a long-spined female who carries a ton of neck extension and an abundance of bone with an impeccable structure. Here is a female we are damn proud to bring to the Friday Night Lights sale Ring! She has stood out from a very early age and hasn’t looked back yet. She is super soft in her middle, broad topped, wide based, angular while moving out elegantly. She is backed by some top cows on both sides of her pedigree. Deeg Ms 58B is a beautiful Cobra daughter that comes from the productive D Bar C Glow 949W cow that has been raising good ones since we acquired her. Two of her bull calves have gone through the sale ring to be high sellers, a Cobra son to Janzen Ranches and a Muirhead Broker son to M&R Damen Farms. A daughter sold in the bull sale as well to Beagle Simmentals, who has gone to do good things for their program including a feature bull calf in their upcoming sale. With Joy Elegance on the top side of the pedigree the guess work is done on daughters coming from High Idle as Joy Elegance is a no miss donor and has a massive ROI that’s still growing. We obtained High Idle knowing his daughters would be awesome females and sons would be highly marketable for their type. After loosing High Idle to injury shortly following the first breeding season its safe to say that we won’t be offering another daughter of his and the chance to own one only comes once in a Blue Moon.

Lydia 29E came in dam from Lewis Farms in their last Leading Ladies sale where we bought her dam for her huge middle, soft flank and impeccable udder quality. Knowing she was bred to Absolute didn’t phase us one bit as we know the capabilities he has and marketability there is for his sons and the femininity of his daughters. The Absolute daughters have great udders with perfect teats and spacing as well as an above average hoof size. We will be calving out ten absolute daughters this year and we are confident that they will go on to be productive females. Here is one sweet female that is extremely neat for us to bring out and sell as the first progeny out of IPU 206S El Tigress 113B! When we purchased 113B it was a big investment but we knew she would work out! We did a flush to CMS Poker Rally and as a result we got 10 full sibs, 6 heifers and 4 Bulls. As Scott and I went through the full sibs in the summer we decided that 21E was the dominant one of the sisters. This females resembles so much of IPU 113B in her length of spine, big hip and complete with that thick straight hair coat! TC 21E has so much length of neck to add that extra style and look to her! Faye is just a perfect picture of the type of female we had in mind when choosing to give the SimAngus deal a go. We purchased Faye as part of an embryo package in the first March Madness sale. We deicided that this would be an excellent place to start out after seeing her dam Ponderosa Jenn’s Fay as a calf and later a dominant yearling, also her sire being Muirhead’s Broker. Really, how could you go wrong? Faye herself, in our minds, is just a model female. She has a lovely, sculpted head and neck that lay seamlessly into a nice flat shoulder.
