I get much enjoyment out of capturing interior and exterior spaces. Creating a record of how people have previously tackled design, which inspires new design.

HISTORICAL PROCESS DRAWING
This historical process drawing has been inspired by many of Heath Robinson’s process drawings. It shows a humorous version of the previous use of 5 Crompton Street, the building which was re-imagined for my final year project. The illustration was created on Photoshop, using a combination of photography and hand drawing.

KEY VISUAL The Key Visual is a visual representation of the brief of my final year project, showing both the location and the new purpose.
BRIEF In the celebration of Lydia Becker's life and her contribution to women's suffrage movement in Manchester, the proposed new brief is to create an extended home for the Women's Library Collection, and the Lydia Becker archive collection. The project will recognise Lydia Becker's achievements in an exhibition of her life and her writings, which will be rehoused from the Manchester Library Archives, where they are currently stored. The building, a Former Post Office located in Bury, Greater Manchester; will dedicate an archive and library space for the viewings of a selection of the Women's Collection, which is currently stored at the London School of Economics. Giving recognition back to Manchester for their efforts with London, within the women's suffrage movement. To do this, the building will provide an archive space which will hold a selection of the women's archives, including letters, journals, banners and museum artefacts. The building will also provide a separate open library space with a selection of books from the women's Library collection. The project will address current topical issues of today, providing a publishing space to work with female authors to publish their writings. These published writings will be sold within a bespoke retail space on-site. These spaces have the possibility to collaborate into a unified space; creating a transparent environment between visitor and publisher.
