Choosing page to illustrate

Audience of 5-9 year olds gift givers i wanted to illustrate the white rabbit on page 2 as he is an iconic recognisable char ter from the alice in wonderland books and one i think of when thinking about the book. i want to try t and convey the rabbits ergency and panick through my illustration to decribe the scene visually. i want to make ma him bold, simple and colourful to adhere to what i feel the target market would be drawn to.

i tried to make the rabbits expression look panicked with big eyes. my idea is to scan this into Photoshop and add textured to the jacket such as tweed to make it recognizable and give a realistic feel. i have h kept to a similar image making technique as the illustrations on my from cover - loose water colour and detail where necessary. i have not illustrated the pocket watch again as i will use the illustration from the cover, to again make the illustrations recognizable as a set. illust

Choosing the Tweed Texture too dull, i don’t think this will draw children in

not enough texture/ change in material colour

i like how this one has a range of colours in but still is a realistic example of a tweed jacket. colour

i felt the colour of the waste coat needed to be changed as it dint go well with the tweed texture. below i have experimented with changing hues on Photoshop so the blue colour would change its tone. i really real like the combination of the tweed and mustard colour, as the mustard colour features in the tweed. i also think this colour scheme is one suited for the time period Alice's adventures in wonderland was written.

Illustration in the 270mm (H) and 215mm (W) single page asked for by Pan Macmillan.
