i think the standing up silhouettes wok better as it communicates the ages/gender/roles of the family better -i.e mum, dad, 2 younger sisters.

^though this is effective with the detail of each face, it will be a very time consuming process, plus it does not show the concept that the family is no longer their. i could resolve this by creating a silhouette of the family except for Tony.

thinking of ways to visually represent the loss of Tony’s family.

Adding mock up of the silhouette illustration to main t-shirt illustration. i experimented with adding a grave stone to emphasise the loss of the family as i wasnt sure weather the silhouettes decribed this enough, however after asking advice, from people who were not awre of the concept, they understood that loss or absence was implied.

Because the rest of my drawings are draw quite delicate, and light with line detail, i wasn't sure weather the block silhouette of the family fami would look odd and contrasting next to the others. I played around with just using a outline of the silhouettes to the match with the other line. though this does make the family illustration less prominent and bold and blends in with the map background, i’mi still not 100% happy with it.

making the block silhouette myselfeven though i wasnt sure about the block silhoutte when adding the mock-up to my main illustration, i decided to create it anyways to see if it looked better after i recreate it. when adding a it to the illustration, i have played around with its opacity allowing the background map to show through, i think this improves the effect of the bold silhouette as it makes it less overpowering next to the other drawings. reflecting on it, i think the silhouette needs to remain blocked as i think this will emphasize and represent the tragic concept that his family is no longer with him.
