Testing the idea of stenciling the fruit to show the colours

Creating a repeat pattern of the stencils and adding them to the J20 logo templates

Choosing favourite and addiing to neck and body logo templates

i chose this design as i think the black background realy makes the multicolour burst bold and vibrant, therefore empahsises the fruity flavours in the drinks. i think using the colour black will also make the product more suitable and appealing to a older demographic. however though this is my favourite stencil design layout, i feel the stencils themselves are weak in quality.

I want my j20 design to be more illustrative than digital as i feel the majority of packaging design is done digitallly. Below i have illustrated the fruits of the drink which i can scan into the computer and add to the packaging templates.

Experimenting with colourburn. i was playing around with thre layering of the line drawings and watercolour bursts and liked the effect ‘colour burn’ gives as it shows the colours of the fruitsthrough the lines of the drawings themselves.

adding a background colour to stop thewhite over powering. unfortunatly this didnt work as well as i had hoped as the watercolour burst have come through on places other than the fruit.

I really like the repeated pattern of the fruits on this idea however I think the white background is to over powering and not appropriate for drinks packaging as transportation may scuff and mark the packaging which will show up so much more on white .

devloping stencil idea: after designing the line drawings of the fruit i played around with layering them behind the stencils also. however, i feel i am steering away from the type of outcome I need to produce simple but effective, I think this amount of detail in such a small stencil is to complex and will not necessarily be notice or appreciated on packaging design. design

Simplifying idea down: though the idea above is to complex, i liked complex the combination of line drawing and the burst of watercolour you can see through the stencil as illustrated both the fruit and the flavours in an abstract way.

I wanted to create a bottle to represent how it will look with my labels on. As I am not 100% confident using computer software I thought a simple outline with the pen tool on illustrator would be the simplest way to effective show the bottle shape. for the 4 pack design I wanted to continue the water colour bursts and the line drawings so the bottle and the packaging link together as a whole, and therefore can easily be identified. adhering to the brief, I needed to make sure the colour green was present in my design so have played ha around with added that too.

i felt my body logo design lacked definition and was would not stand out against the bottle, so i have played around with adding a lined boarder in the hope this will make the lable bold. again i have experimented with the green of J20 currents brand identify, but I have also used black to aim to the older audience and to make provide a even bigger contrast between the other colours and the bottle

experimenting with loosing the line drawings from the body label as this could be making it too crowded and therefore detracting attention away from the logo inside the label. looking at the label with just the burst of watercolour behind it, I think highlights the logo better with the bold colours making it a focal point.

the dark green against the watercolour is to much of a contrast, also the line drawings dont show up very well so i have tried to brighten them, however this doesnt look right either. i think the watercolour works best against a white background backg however using a colour next to the bottle makes the packaging design looks more complete and dismissing unecessesary negativespace adding the green to break up the neagive space and also to draw existing customers to the new product with the brands colour scheme.

experimenting with what colour works best agains the green show the pack mandatory infomation. i have chosen the yellowy orange to fit with the colour of the drinks I have used a lime green background colour as this colour was present in both of the watercolour bursts, it is also a lighter shade of J20’s synonymous green colour. i think this syno tackles my problem of loosing the white background, yet still allows the line drawings and watercolour spash to stand out just as much as the white background.

deciding on the positoning of the fruit for the orange and passionfrut packageing. this was difficult as i didnt want them to over lap but i also needed to leave room in the same place as the mango and apple pack for the writing to sit.

Now that I have change the background colour of the packaging from white to lime green, I felt I needed to do the same to the labels in the bottles to make them match.
