Receiver Mark Adams
Mark Adams tackles various health and safety issues at distressed properties, including homes, hotels, apartment buildings, and commercial properties. His expertise includes addressing unpermitted construction, fire and seismic damage, rampant crime, abandoned structures, unsafe living conditions, junk accumulation, pest infestations, asbestos, mold, and other hazardous situations. In 1999, he became the first receiver appointed under the California Health and Safety Code. This appointment was in response to a tragic incident at a 66-unit apartment complex where an 11-week-old infant died due to the building's deplorable conditions. This marked the first use of the Health and Safety Code to tackle a nuisance abatement issue. Inspired by this event, he established CRG as a comprehensive solution to eliminate dangerous properties and relieve affected communities. His career has been built on decades of experience in real estate finance, Receivership, and public affairs. He has held significant positions, including a principal role at Civitas Housing Company, Senior Vice President at De Miranda Management, and Director of Public Affairs at Fannie Mae. His work in these roles provided the foundation for his pioneering efforts in health and safety receivership. Beyond his professional achievements, Mark Adams has been a mentor to many other health and safety receivers in California. He is frequently invited to speak at state and national housing conferences. He has contributed to significant legal cases, including submitting an amicus curiae brief in the California Supreme Court's landmark ruling in City of Santa Monica v. Gonzalez. His personal life is equally rich. Born in Chicago and raised in Los Angeles, he and his wife Janis have raised three children and are approaching their 35th wedding anniversary. His children have pursued prestigious academic paths, with two attending Harvard University. He's a devoted grandfather who sends daily knock-knock jokes to his granddaughter while she's at camp.
