CT 06489 Dear Chairman Barry, Honorable Members of the Town Council and Mr. Weichsel: At the last Southington POlice Commission's meeting of January 8,2009, ! was asked by the commission to meet with the Town Attorney and obtain his recommendotions pursuant to a complaint fHed by the police union dated DecembeJ' 30, 2006. After a long discussion with the Town Attorney, I am authorized on behalf of the commission to J'equest of -he Town Attorney to contoct a suitable state agency and ask them 1'0 review all allegations of a criminal nature of any department employee whether alleged in the complaint or discovered through any other investigatory means. Also, upon advice of +he Town Attomey, I am authorized to work with the Town Attorney's Office to enlist the services of a retired police captain or chief who has no connection with the Southington POlice Deportment to review cctions of ony employees of the Southington Police Department whether stated in the comploint or othef'Nise, to review whether any violations cf the deportment's procedures or general orders have been violated.
