September 8, 2009 TO ALL TOWN OF SOUTHINGTON EMPLOYEES: Dear Town Employee: The Southington Town Council passed in 2006 0 provision of the Ethics Code that allows for whistle blower protection to all town employees. Under the Code, all town employees ore protected when they report any possible ethicol or criminal acts committed by town employees or officiols, The State of Connecticut also has a very comprehensive State Whistleblower low that protects employees from retaliation rorthe reporting of wrong doing, Attorney General Blumenthal's office has u~ed the state Whistle Blower lew on numerous occasions. Recently there has been a very serious allegation made against a town employee. This issue is a matter of great concern to the Town Council. Law enforcement will be aggressively investigating this matter. We encourage all employees to come forward wifh any information of an aefion that you suspect is criminal or against the Ethics Code. We ask that you please contact Deputy Town Manager Mark Sciofa at 860-276-6221 or Chief of Police Jacl< Daly at 86().378-16Dl, These recent developments against 0 fong time employee should not refled negatively on the good work that others do each and every day.
