Kevin M. Scarpati Mayor

May 12, 2019 Dear Members of the City Council, Let me begin by thanking the City Council Finance Committee and Chairman Daniels, City Manager Coon, Finance Director Lupkas, and all of our Department Heads, for bringing forward a 2019/2020 budget. This budget has seen several revisions by the City Manager, a review of all departments, and bipartisan support and approval from the Democratic, We the People and Republican parties for a unanimous vote by the City Council. Difficult decisions have been made and the city-wide mill rate has been reduced from 41.04 to 40.86. While this $197M budget is not perfect across all lines, in all departments, I do believe it is a fair budget for our residents. In light of these factors, I will be waiving my right to veto, as I support the budget that has been recommended by the City Manager, amended, and approved unanimously by the City Council. Thank you,
